Rare W15 Real Wood, Suede And Leather Option Package, 1 Of 647, Low Mileage on 2040-cars

Year:1985 Mileage:74237 Color:
Location:

Seabrook, Texas, United States

Seabrook, Texas, United States

Up for auction a garage-kept 1985 Riviera in very good condition. This car has the rare real wood option package, including leather seats with suede inserts, and wood and leather steering wheel. Of the 65,305 Rivieras sold in 1985, only 647 had this option.

Exterior:  The original sandstone paint is in very good condition, and is very presentable despite showing its age in a few spots, which have been touched up over the years. The dark brown vinyl half-roof is still soft and supple. Coach lamps are intact, but no longer illuminate. Bumper fillers have been replaced within the last two years, so they should have another 30+ years of life. Locking wire wheel covers have a few small dings, but still look very nice. The chrome "R" symbol is missing from the left taillight (Replacements are widely available, as 1979-1985 will fit).  Glass and chrome are excellent all around, and tires have 90% tread life left. There is a small spot of rust on the bottom of the right rear bumper extension, otherwise, exterior is rust-free.

Interior:  Very good overall condition - seats are still soft, and dash has no cracks. Power seats work great, including the optional right front seat power recliner. Burled walnut dash and door trim are also in excellent condition, and retain their original luster. Wool carpeting is in good shape. The headliner was apparently replaced by a previous owner, and looks OK, but for some reason the visor clip and coat hangers are missing.  I'm currently using an improvised clip to hold up the visors.

Mechanical: I've scrupulously maintained the vehicle by performing regular fluid changes, and addressing repairs as they are needed. Parts are still widely available for this car due to the large number of GM E-Body cars produced over a seven year period.  Work done over the last year and a half include:
  • New A/C compressor and accumulator - blows ice cold and the R-12 refrigerant was retained to ensure maximum, as-designed cooling.
  • New battery
  • Throttle position sensor
  • Full tune up
  • Front crank seal, oil pan gasket, timing cover gasket, and transmission seal replaced
  • New vacuum hoses and belts
  • Complete brake job
Car starts right up, and runs and drives well. There are no fluid leaks. Engine runs strong with no unusual noises, and transmission is solid and shifts properly. All power accessories are fully functional, with the exception of the power antenna (Motor runs continuously, so it is currently disconnected - antenna works fine in "manual override" mode). The original radio works, but cassette player and right front speaker are inop. All interior and exterior lighting works properly. Car has current registration and state safety inspection. Depicted manuals will be included in sale.

I have described the car to the best of my ability, please message me with any questions.  I currently drive the car locally on weekends, but I have not taken it on any extended road trips, so I would recommend shipping if you need to transport a significant distance. Shipping is at buyer's expense, but I will fully cooperate in any way I can. Car is listed with low reserve. A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of auction close, with the balance due within seven days in cash or certified funds.  I have the car listed for sale locally as well, so I reserve the right to end the auction early.  Thanks and happy bidding!

The 2020 Buick LaCrosse we won't get looks exceptional

Thu, Mar 7 2019

GM is killing off the Buick LaCrosse in the United States after the 2019 model year, but elsewhere it lives on. Buried by all the Geneva news this week, GM quietly took the wraps off a 2020 Buick LaCrosse facelift for China. It only makes sense to keep selling the big Buick in the popular Chinese market (now Buick's largest), but we're a tad jealous of what we can't have stateside. The changes Buick has implemented make the LaCrosse into a far more handsome option. Both the front and rear get massaged here. A new horizontal patterned grille, slimmer headlights with a neat LED design, plus new lower bumper surround all work together to provide a more upscale look. The view out back is an even larger departure from the old and somewhat awkward rear end on the 2019 LaCrosse. Smaller, flowing taillights mesh well with the chrome strip on the trunk lid, then dual exhaust outlets offer a sporty flair to the squat rear end. The Buick badge looks cohesive with the look as a whole now, instead of just chilling out alone on the expansive trunk lid. An updated powertrain package goes along with the new looks, too. GM is snagging its new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder LSY engine it uses in the Cadillac XT4 for duty here. It makes 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to GM's nine-speed automatic transmission. China will be the only market to see this generation of LaCrosse as GM plans to exclusively produce it in its Shanghai facility. The Detroit-Hamtramck plant that previously made it for all North American markets was among those facilities GM announced would close, bringing with it the LaCrosse and other vehicles. Woodward Dream Cruise Photo Gallery | Classics and American muscle

Sun, Aug 21 2022

The 2022 running of the Woodward Dream Cruise just went down, and we were there from morning to evening drinking in the sweet sights and pre-emissions exhaust fumes. Yes, it’s a little smelly on Woodward Ave. this time of year. Just like always, the Dream Cruise invites all comers to cruise their machines on Woodward from Ferndale, MI to Pontiac, MI. Everybody is invited, but the original intent of the Dream Cruise was to highlight classic American muscle cars. YouÂ’ll see plenty of those in our mega gallery above, but weÂ’ve sprinkled it with a bunch of other vehicle types, such as modern muscle and other intriguing American vehicles. Similar to years past, though, sometimes the classics arenÂ’t the most entertaining thing to look at on Woodward. ThatÂ’s why weÂ’ll have other mega galleries coming soon, highlighting the weird cars and (great) dogs of the Cruise, all the imports and exotics you can imagine and a special one for all the trucks of Woodward — perhaps even more so than in years past, the truck population on Dream Cruise day was quite high. Click through above to see all the classics you wouldÂ’ve seen had you been roadside on the day of the cruise. And if you missed this yearÂ’s event, make sure you check out what happens next year. You wonÂ’t be alone, as itÂ’s estimated that over 1 million people attend the Dream Cruise to either watch from the side of the road or to sit in the most glorious traffic jam in the world. Buick Verano to go turbo-only for 2014?

Sat, 22 Dec 2012

If VIN tags recently posted online prove accurate, the 2014 Buick Verano may be getting a new base engine. Presently the Verano makes use of GM's 2.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine in non-turbo trim; 2014 documentation appears to indicate that GM's entry-level luxury compact will instead feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged mill.
If this is the same engine seen in Europe, GM Inside News suggests it may offer 192 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque - useful improvements over the larger naturally aspirated mill's 180 hp and 171 lb-ft. More importantly, the downsized engine would likely improve on the Verano's current fuel mileage estimates of 21 city and 31 highway.
We like the Verano in both of its current iterations, but the 1.6 turbo engine sounds like a worthwhile upgrade if this reports turns out to be true. Plus, if more performance is your bag, baby, there's always the Verano's optional 2.0 turbo engine with an impressive 250 horsepower and 260 lb-ft from just 2.0 liters of displacement.
