Rare W15 Real Wood, Suede And Leather Option Package, 1 Of 647, Low Mileage on 2040-cars
Seabrook, Texas, United States
Up for auction a garage-kept 1985 Riviera in very good condition. This car has the rare real wood option package, including leather seats with suede inserts, and wood and leather steering wheel. Of the 65,305 Rivieras sold in 1985, only 647 had this option.
Exterior: The original sandstone paint is in very good condition, and is very presentable despite showing its age in a few spots, which have been touched up over the years. The dark brown vinyl half-roof is still soft and supple. Coach lamps are intact, but no longer illuminate. Bumper fillers have been replaced within the last two years, so they should have another 30+ years of life. Locking wire wheel covers have a few small dings, but still look very nice. The chrome "R" symbol is missing from the left taillight (Replacements are widely available, as 1979-1985 will fit). Glass and chrome are excellent all around, and tires have 90% tread life left. There is a small spot of rust on the bottom of the right rear bumper extension, otherwise, exterior is rust-free. Interior: Very good overall condition - seats are still soft, and dash has no cracks. Power seats work great, including the optional right front seat power recliner. Burled walnut dash and door trim are also in excellent condition, and retain their original luster. Wool carpeting is in good shape. The headliner was apparently replaced by a previous owner, and looks OK, but for some reason the visor clip and coat hangers are missing. I'm currently using an improvised clip to hold up the visors. Mechanical: I've scrupulously maintained the vehicle by performing regular fluid changes, and addressing repairs as they are needed. Parts are still widely available for this car due to the large number of GM E-Body cars produced over a seven year period. Work done over the last year and a half include:
I have described the car to the best of my ability, please message me with any questions. I currently drive the car locally on weekends, but I have not taken it on any extended road trips, so I would recommend shipping if you need to transport a significant distance. Shipping is at buyer's expense, but I will fully cooperate in any way I can. Car is listed with low reserve. A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of auction close, with the balance due within seven days in cash or certified funds. I have the car listed for sale locally as well, so I reserve the right to end the auction early. Thanks and happy bidding! |

GM CEO to meet with U.S. lawmakers over job cuts
Fri, Nov 30 2018WASHINGTON — General Motors Co Chief Executive Mary Barra plans to visit Capitol Hill next week to discuss the company's plans to halt production at five plants in North America next year and cut up to 15,000 jobs, two congressional aides said on Friday. GM has come under harsh criticism from lawmakers from both major political parties, and from President Donald Trump, since Monday when it announced the biggest restructuring for the U.S. No. 1 carmaker since its bankruptcy a decade ago. Barra is expected to meet with lawmakers from Michigan and Ohio, where GM plans to shutter three plants, as well as senior leaders in Congress. GM did not immediately comment. Barra has been calling lawmakers this week to explain the decision to end production. Trump has threatened to revoke subsidies for GM. The Detroit automaker plans to halt production next year at three assembly plants: the Lordstown small-car factory near Youngstown, Ohio; the Detroit-Hamtramck complex in Detroit; and the Oshawa, Ontario, assembly complex near Toronto. It will also stop building several models now assembled at those plants, including the Chevrolet Cruze, the Chevrolet Volt hybrid, the Cadillac CT6 and the Buick LaCrosse. Additionally, GM plans to shutter the Warren transmission plant outside Detroit and a plant that makes electric motors and drivetrains outside Baltimore, Maryland. The Cruze compact car will be discontinued in the U.S. market in 2019, although GM may continue building it in Mexico for other markets, Barra said. Reporting by David Shepardson. Related Video:
U.S. denies GM tariff relief request for China-made Buick SUV
Wed, Jun 5 2019WASHINGTON — The Trump administration has denied a General Motors Co request for an exemption to a 25 percent U.S. tariff on its Chinese-made Buick Envision sport utility vehicle. The denial of the nearly year-old petition came in a May 29 letter from the U.S. Trade Representative's office saying the request concerns "a product strategically important or related to 'Made in China 2025' or other Chinese industrial programs." The midsize SUV, priced starting at about $35,000, has become a target for critics of Chinese-made goods, including leaders of the United Auto Workers union and members in key political swing states such as Michigan and Ohio. GM said on Tuesday it was aware of the denial and has been paying the tariff since July. GM has not raised the sticker price to account for the tariff. Buick Envision sales fell in the United States by nearly 27% to 30,000 last year and fell another 21% in the first three months of 2019. Only a small number of vehicles are built in China and sold in the United States. Last month, the U.S. Trade Representative's Office also denied a request by Chinese-owned Volvo Cars for tariff exemptions for mid-size SUVs assembled in China after the automaker sought an exemption for the XC60, its top selling U.S. vehicle. GM, the largest U.S. automaker, argued in its request that Envision sales in China and the United States would generate funds "to invest in our U.S. manufacturing facilities and to develop the next generation of automotive technology in the United States." GM said last year the "vast majority" of Envisions, about 200,000 a year, are sold in China. Because of the lower U.S. sales volume, "assembly in our home market is not an option" for the Envision, which competes with such mid-size crossover vehicles as the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Cadillac XT5. Ahead of the July 2018 start for higher import tariffs, GM shipped in a six-month supply of Envisions at the much lower 2.5 percent tariff rate, Reuters reported in August 2018.
GM opens military discount to 21M veterans and their spouses
Thu, Apr 7 2016May marks the start of National Military Appreciation Month, and General Motors is getting into the spirit by expanding its military discount program to, well, just about everyone. That includes a total of 21 million military veterans and their spouses, along with the current slate of active duty, reserve, and National Guard members. The discount can slash thousands of dollars off the price of a new Buick, Chevrolet, or GMC vehicles, with Automotive News listing an $1,100 discount on the top gas-powered version of the Malibu, the Premiere. Those that want a bit more spice can get $1,700 off the price of a last-generation 2015 Camaro SS, while truck buyers will enjoy $3,000 off the Chevy Silverado All Star. That's just a start, though, since the military discount can be paired with other GM incentives. The discount doesn't apply to everything, though. Some are understandable – none of Cadillac's vehicles are included in the deal, nor is the Corvette Z06. You'll also be unable to apply the discount to a range of base-level trims, like the Chevy Cruze or Equinox L, the base Colorado, or the entry level GMC Acadia, Canyon, and Terrain. A full list is available at GM's dedicated military discount website. GM's expanded discount plan runs from today through May 31.
