1998 Buick Riviera, Only 19,834 Miles, Pristine, Supercharged, Greg Norman Demo on 2040-cars
Willoughby, Ohio, United States
This is a NO RESERVE listing.
This is likely the nicest Buick Riviera of this generation for sale in the country- you won't find another like it. This car began life as PGA golfer Greg Norman's demo car for the 1998 World Series of Golf PGA Tour event at Firestone Country Club in Akron, OH. This year Greg Norman was the defending champion for this event and he was given this Buick as his "demo" car. Greg Norman had use of this car for the duration of the tournament and he put the first 350 or so miles on the car. The car was then returned to the dealer, Lambert Buick, where it was sold retail in May of 1999. The lady who bought the car has kept it ever since, only putting on 19,834 miles since new. She is now 91 years old and has given up driving and that is the reason the car is for sale. The car has always had service and oil changes on time and all records come with the car. This car is all original, right down to the original tires with good tread remaining. This car has always been garaged since new and has never been driven in the winter, so it has never seen salt or snow.
This car is in outstanding clean and original condition. It is hard to differentiate the condition of this car from new. This car is absolutely pristine and clean and it has zero rust. The car starts, runs and drives perfectly and it has no known mechanical issues or problems. You could drive this car across the country if you like.
The interior shows basically no wear. The leather seats are perfect, the steering wheel is pristine and the carpets and upholstery are excellent and clean. This interior still looks and smells new. The paint is original and the body is straight, clean and excellent. The paint has just been waxed and the exterior condition of the car is superb. This car has never been kept outside and it has been preserved very well from new. There have been no known accidents. This car has the following equipment and options:
The original books and manuals come with the car along with two sets of keys. This is truly a "time capsule" example of the last generation Buick Riviera. These cars are increasingly difficult to find in good condition, and far harder to find in pristine condition like this one with less than 20,000 miles since new. This is a 16 year old car, not a brand new car. And although it is in superb condition for the miles and age, this car does have a few minor faults: There are holes in the front bumper for the front license plate bracket (included). The power antenna goes up but doesn't come all the way down- it is slightly bent. There are some very minor scrapes on the front and rear bumpers and a few tiny dings on the sides. There is extremely minor normal wear and tear on the car consistent with the mileage. This is almost certainly the cleanest, best-condition Riviera for sale in the USA. I don't know where else you could find one in this sort of condition. This car could easily belong in an automotive museum or a private collection of pristine low-mileage cars. This car is kept in my storage garage in Willoughby, OH. Please contact Angels Moving Autos at 530-245-0481 for a shipping quote. Please email me or call/text me at 440-339-4341 with any questions. |

GM cutting Chevy Sonic, Buick Verano production by more than 20%
Sat, Jun 13 2015General Motors' Orion Assembly plant in Michigan is seeing even more production cuts this year to further reduce inventories of the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano. These latest adjustments mean layoffs for about 100 workers in phases starting in July. "GM Orion Assembly will adjust plant production capacity to better align with market demand," the company said in a statement announcing the change. Through May, sales of the Sonic are down 28.5 percent to 29,082 vehicles, and the Verano is off 15.6 percent, with 15,279 sold this year. According to unnamed plant insiders speaking to Automotive News, the assembly rate is slowing at Orion Assembly from the current 33 cars an hour down to 26 an hour, a 21-percent reduction. GM is also reportedly going to keep the plant idle for three weeks during the normal summer shutdown, rather than the usual two. Earlier in the year, the factory was idled for two weeks due to excess supply of the Sonic and Verano. In March, it was closed again for several days for the same reason. The Orion Assembly plant is the future home to the line for the Chevy Bolt EV. GM Statement: GM Orion Assembly will adjust plant production capacity to better align with market demand. A phased layoff of approximately 100 employees will begin in July 2015 and conclude by year-end. Buick resurrects the Electra nameplate on a science fiction-like electric concept
Tue, Sep 29 2020Buick plans to broaden its range of electric cars in the coming years, and it still owns the rights to the heritage-laced Electra nameplate, so it was only a matter of time before the past and the future met head-on. Buick resurrected the name it used between the 1959 and 1990 model years on a futuristic, battery-powered concept car. Created by a Shanghai-based design studio, the Electra concept takes the form of either a tall sedan or a low crossover, depending on your perspective. While it's not officially a preview of an upcoming production model, it ushers in a design language named Potential Energy that will permeate most of the electric cars the firm will release during the 2020s. It's inspired by a space capsule, according to Buick, so its greenhouse was drawn to resemble a glass pod. Its surfaces are sculpted but not chiseled, and its front fascia wears LED lights with a three-dimensional effect. Fear not: Stylists didn't forget the seemingly obligatory back-lit emblem. Butterfly doors provide access to the cabin, where the space capsule theme continues. Buick packed the Electra with cutting-edge technology features, but it concealed them rather well to avoid a tech overload. The driver faces a rectangular steering wheel that retracts when it's not needed, behind which is a wide, curved screen that replaces all of the buttons, knobs, and switches normally found in a car's interior. An electric motor is far more compact than a comparable four- or six-cylinder engine, so designers were able to carve out a generously sized interior. Engineers embedded technology into the Electra from the project's earliest stage. It's equipped with software named eConnect that supports over-the-air updates, provides on-demand information about a specific trip, and gives details about the various electronic driving aids. An artificial intelligence-powered assistant lets users perform various tasks, such as setting the air conditioning or controlling home devices, with voice commands. Buick noted the Electra offers about 410 miles of driving range thanks in part to the Ultium battery technology developed by General Motors to power a wide selection of electric models, including the Cadillac Lyriq, the GMC Hummer, and a pair of Honda-badged models scheduled to go on sale for the 2024 model year.
Buick Velite Plug-In Hybrid Concept debuts to little fanfare
Sat, Nov 19 2016Buick pulled the covers off its latest Velite Concept at the Auto Guangzhou 2016 show in China. We say latest because this is actually the second time Buick has used the Velite name for a concept, the previous having been shown at the 2004 New York Auto Show. The first Velite concept was a two-door convertible; the second Velite is a four-door crossover. Enough about the name, what about the concept? Well, it's very highly stylized, and we don't really mean that in a good way. There's nothing about the Velite that screams Buick, except for its badges, of course. At the front is a compressed version of Buick's traditional waterfall-like fascia. It's flanked by slit-like LED lighting elements. The rest of the face looks to our eyes like it draws inspiration from the latest Toyota Prius. There isn't a single flat element to the Velite Concept's bodysides, in a way that resembles recent concepts from Infiniti. The last bit of styling flourish are deep recesses just ahead of the rear wheels, a look that is reminiscent of BMW's i-series of vehicles. There aren't any images showing the Velite's hind quarters, but from what we can see, that also has a QX-ish look about it. There are no shots yet of the Velite's interior, but Buick says it's "elegant" and "includes recycled materials." We wish we could see what it looks like, because the automaker says it "[points] to design trends for upcoming new energy vehicles." So, the Buick Velite Concept is a nondescript mashup of design elements that we've already seen. Under the skin, however, things are more interesting. It's a plug-in hybrid with a modular lithium ion battery. That doesn't tell us much – it could be a variant of the Chevy Volt, or it could be a different system altogether. We look forward to finding out. In the meantime, have a look at the high-res image gallery up above. Oh, and if you're wondering, the word velite traces its roots back to a lightly armored military division in ancient Rome. Related Video:
