Due to an unpaying buyer/bidder, I am relisting to ol' girl again -----

This auction is for a 1955 Buick "SUPER" - Riviera - 2-Door Hardtop - "project car".
This "Super" was sold as a used car Jan. 7, 1957 from Benson Motors in Minden, Nebraska.
Owned by the father/daughter who bought the car in 1957 until I got it recently -
Some time ago, I had bought the daughter's 1967 Barracuda that she bought NEW in 1967,
so when they were leaving town, she contacted me about her father's Buick.
I have the old "small-style" Nebraska Title for it - CLEAN Title - ready for the next owner.

This Buick needs restored but is way above average for "starter project cars" - Good Color Combo too.
I took a bunch of pics so buyers can Clearly see what they're bidding on.

I would consider this car a "low-rust" body -
Trunk, Mid & Back Floor pans, Engine Compartment, etc are Very Solid with ONLY surface rust
LH/RH Front Floor Pans need repaired (see pics) - Small rust-hole bottom of LH Front Fender.
Rocker panels/Bottom Edge of body getting some rust but looks worse in the pictures than they actually are.
Frame Rails, Suspension, etc also look Very Good - Very Minimal rust to be fixed on this ol' body !
One advantage to this Buick is it's longevity with one family and minimal parts loss.
Car is almost totally complete except missing Top-End of the Nail-Head Engine, Radio & Speaker and small misc parts.
Sure makes restoration a WHOLE lot easier when all the little "nuts & bolts" that are so time consuming and costly to find & replace are attached to the car !

GLASS - Windshield & Side Glass will need replaced due to crack, discoloration, etc -- BACK Window is in Good Condition.

EXTERIOR Mouldings, etc ---
LH/RH Side Mouldings are in Very Nice Condition from front to rear - NO dings, very straight !
Both Bumpers are good candidates to be rechromed - "Honey-Comb" Grill is Very Nice - Headlite Bezels shined up nicely, Lenses are Good.
Tail-lites, Front-Fender Mounted Mirrors and the (8) Side-Marker have some small "pitting" but shine up nicely.
Windshield, Side Windows and Rear Window Chrome looks Very Nice.

INTERIOR:
Needs interior restoration - Pictures below show it clearly -
Nice that it's pretty Complete except for radio and Speaker - Pretty Neat Chrome Cigarette Lighter mounted under the Dash !

ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN:
Looks to be pretty Complete except missing Heads, Intake, Carb and Air Cleaner.
Transmission, Driveshaft, etc are connected - Just needs engine replaced.
I was told this was a "nail-head" engine - I do not know Cu. In.size.

Overall, this ol' Buick will make someone a heck of a "starter" project car -
Whether to restore, ratrod or whatever, it's VERY Nice to have a pretty complete car making restoration so much easier !!!

My shop PC died(using a friend's laptop to do this ad) and my shop phone(308-236-5784) is not working due to remodelling issues,
so please email questions through Ebay or call my Cell: 308-380-8630 and leave a message please.
Due to the amount of calls, etc (I'm a one-man shop), I will call back as soon as possible - MANY THANKS !

The 2020 Buick LaCrosse we won't get looks exceptional

Thu, Mar 7 2019

GM is killing off the Buick LaCrosse in the United States after the 2019 model year, but elsewhere it lives on. Buried by all the Geneva news this week, GM quietly took the wraps off a 2020 Buick LaCrosse facelift for China. It only makes sense to keep selling the big Buick in the popular Chinese market (now Buick's largest), but we're a tad jealous of what we can't have stateside. The changes Buick has implemented make the LaCrosse into a far more handsome option. Both the front and rear get massaged here. A new horizontal patterned grille, slimmer headlights with a neat LED design, plus new lower bumper surround all work together to provide a more upscale look. The view out back is an even larger departure from the old and somewhat awkward rear end on the 2019 LaCrosse. Smaller, flowing taillights mesh well with the chrome strip on the trunk lid, then dual exhaust outlets offer a sporty flair to the squat rear end. The Buick badge looks cohesive with the look as a whole now, instead of just chilling out alone on the expansive trunk lid. An updated powertrain package goes along with the new looks, too. GM is snagging its new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder LSY engine it uses in the Cadillac XT4 for duty here. It makes 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to GM's nine-speed automatic transmission. China will be the only market to see this generation of LaCrosse as GM plans to exclusively produce it in its Shanghai facility. The Detroit-Hamtramck plant that previously made it for all North American markets was among those facilities GM announced would close, bringing with it the LaCrosse and other vehicles. Is this GM's next electric crossover?

Thu, Nov 16 2017

GM made headlines this week when CEO Mary Barra presented the company's electrification and automation plans at the Barclays Global Automotive Conference in New York. "We are committed to a future electric vehicle portfolio that will be profitable," Barra said, which could be taken as a jab at Tesla. In the presentation ( PDF here), though, we see a new vehicle in a slide titled "Leveraging existing BEV platform to expand in near term." The vehicle, seen above, accompanied the captions "New CUV entries" and "two entries by 2020." Is this a sneak preview of an upcoming electric crossover from GM? The image seems too realistic and intentional to be a random placeholder. If this is, indeed, an upcoming battery-electric CUV based on the Bolt, the question remains: Will it be a Chevy or a Buick? It has no visible badging, but it shares DNA from both brands. As Inside EVs points out, though, it does bear a resemblance to the Chevrolet FNR-X concept unveiled in Shanghai earlier this year. With two CUVs on the way, it's not unthinkable that there could be a version for each brand. In addition to this slide, the presentation includes plans for an "All new multi-brand, multi-segment platform" launching in 2021. The all-new modular battery system will cost less than $100 per kWh, providing higher energy density and faster charging. The platform will host at least nine different vehicles, including a compact crossover, seven-seat luxury SUV and a large commercial van. GM has said it will launch 20 new EVs by 2023, and that it targets 1 million EV sales per year by 2026. Many of those sales will be in China. Related Video:

U.S. new-vehicle sales in 2018 rise slightly to 17.27 million [UPDATE]

Thu, Jan 3 2019

DETROIT — Sales of new vehicles in the U.S. rose slightly in 2018, defying predictions and highlighting a strong economy. Automakers reported an increase of 0.3 percent over a year ago to 17.27 million vehicles. The increase came despite rising interest rates, a volatile stock market, and rising car and truck prices that pushed some buyers out of the new-vehicle market. Industry analysts and automakers said strong economic fundamentals pushed up sales and should keep them near historic highs in 2019. "Economic conditions in the U.S. are favorable and should continue to be supportive of vehicle sales at or around their current run rate," Ford Chief Economist Emily Kolinski Morris said after the company and other automakers announced their sales numbers Thursday. That auto sales remain near the 2016 record of 17.55 million is a testimonial to the strength of the economy, said Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Analytics. The job market, he said, has created new employment, and wage growth has accelerated. "That's fundamental to selling anything," he said. "If there are lots of jobs and people are getting bigger paychecks, they will buy more." The unemployment rate is 3.7 percent, a 49-year low. The economy is thought to have grown close to 3 percent last year, its best performance in more than a decade. Consumers, the main driver of the economy, are spending freely. The Federal Reserve raised its key interest rate four times in 2018 but is only expected to raise it twice this year. Auto sales also were helped by low gasoline prices and rising home values, Zandi said. It all means that people are likely to keep buying new vehicles this year even as they grow more expensive. The Edmunds.com auto-pricing site estimates that the average new vehicle price hit a record $35,957 in December, about 2 percent higher than the previous year. It will be harder for automakers to keep the sales pace above 17 million because they have been enticing buyers for several years now with low-interest financing and other incentives, Zandi said. He predicts more deals in the coming year as job growth slows and credit tightens for higher-risk buyers. Edmunds, which provides content, including automotive tips and reviews, for distribution by The Associated Press, predicts that sales will drop this year to 16.9 million.
