Up for sale is my 1987 Buick Regal Turbo "T"  WE4 with 24,670 original documented miles.

For the record, if you are looking for a show car this is not the car for you. I am a very picky owner, and I will be 100% honest. I have nothing to hide, and if the car doesn't sell, well it doesn't sell. There are no funny stories here.. My kids or my wife aren't forcing me to sell it, I'm not under financial hardship, I don't need to sell it to finance another project, and I'm not oblivious to how rare this car is.

The car comes with a number of receipts and documentation including maintenance records, repairs, and upgrades. I believe I am the 4th owner. I purchase the car just before winter of last year with 23,680 miles.

I have documentation that this is former Dennis Kirban owned car (purchased by previous owner in 2000). I had looked for a long time for a low mileage turbo Regal before I purchased this car. I actually bought the car sight unseen after speaking with Dennis.

Here are the list of modifications:

Turbo TA49  with a polished compressor housing from Limit Engineering and HD actuator

Mease Performance big-neck, stock appearing IC with customer aluminum shroud

Big Mouth Cold Air Kit

RJC powerplate

Powdercoated stock plenum

BOP angle boss IAC relocator

Walbro 307 (hotwired)

Accufab adjustable fuel pressure regulator

009 - 42.5lb injectors

GNX 02 sensor

Terry Houston SS downpipe mated to a Terry Houston Jersey Dump pipe

ATR SS2.5" dual exhaust with two stainless steel ATR Pitbull mufflers

Alumimum driveshaft by Dynotech Performance Engineering

Aluminum brake drums

Bilstein shocks

Protorque 10.5" L/U converter 3,000 stall

Dynotech Performance Shift Kit by (Eric Shertz)

Spohn Rear Drag Bar

Red Armstrong Plug Wires (AC Delco C443TS plugs)

Custom embroidered hood insulator by IMM Auto Specialties (I don't have the stock insulator)

Polished aluminum battery cover, radiator cover, and turbo shield.

Buick Motorsports valve covers

Gbodyparts Aluminum radiator with "Turbo 6" engraved cap

Autometer Ultra-lite 35 psi boost gauge mounted on a custom hood bracket that mounts to the under-hood light

Spectra Premium gas tank (replaced in 2000) but still looks brand new. I also have an extra set of straps that go with the car.

Front and rear Kirban frame braces.

The car comes with a couple of chips. (100 octane custom programmed chip by Jim Testa, a 100 Oct TurboTweak Chip, and a 93 octane Jim Testa chip - currently in car)

At 24,000 miles I had the following work done:

Valve cover gaskets, rear main seal, oil pan gasket (currently oil is Mobile 1 Synthetic)

The accumulator ball was replaced due to a the original one failing (I still have the part if the new owner wants it). The Power Master switch has been changed out.

I also had all new body mounts installed, and had the Eibach Pro Series Kit installed which dropped the rear 0.8" and the front 1".

The front brakes have slotted rotors installed and may have 1500 miles on them.

The key would occasionally stick in the ignition, so I had the shop that performed the above work, fix that too.

When I purchased the car, the boost was set at 25psi which was more than I was comfortable with. The turbo is currently adjusted to a modest 12psi.

I have documentation dating back to when the car was purchased new, and I believe I have all of the manuals that came with the car.

There are two sets of rims and tires with this car.

The 1st set is a stock set of wheels. These wheels are in perfect shape. There are no signs of clear coat peeling due to tire weights. The tires that are on the stock rims are Toyo Proxies TPT (Directional) P215/65 R15. They have >95% tread on them and about 4,000 miles total. They have not been mounted on the car since I purchased it. The stock center caps (which are in perfect shape) come with these wheels as well.

The 2nd set of wheels are the GTA wheels. The rears are offset to resemble the GNX wheels. The tires on these rims are the BFGoodrich G-Force Sport Comp 2. The rear tires are 255/50 R16 and the front tires are 245/50 R16.

The car fires right up and drives as you expect it to. Everything works on the car including the AC/Heat. The power antenna works too!

The reason I say this isn't a show car, because it does have it's share of issues - remember I am very picky.

The Exterior:

Overall I would rate this car a 7 out of 10. There is absolutely no rust issues with this car. The previous owner never washed the car in the time that he had it. (I will give you his contact information if you would like to talk to him).

The car has a number of car door size dings in it from years of storage - I counted five. The most noticeable dent is an impression on the hood (I attempted to take a picture of it) from someone trying to close the hood.

The paint on the car is not original and there a number of places to prove it. At some point in the cars life the drivers side rear quarter and door had some damage and it was repaired and not very well. I can take a picture of the quarter panel from inside the trunk. There is evidence of a 3" scrape mark (crease), which makes me believe that the car may have been hit in a parking lot  or side swiped a garage door. I was not concerned with the previous repair because I planned on stripping the car down and having it repainted anyway. The paint on the car is not cracked, chipped, or damaged it's just not a show quality paint job. It does clean up very well and has a deep shine to it.

Over the winter the front drivers side bumper filler cracked. The bumper fillers are original and turn a milky white color within 24 hours of waxing them. They need to be replaced.

Please note that the car retains all of the original RPO codes on the drivers door and the options sticker in the trunk.

The floor pans are perfect, the trunk is perfect, the frame rails are perfect with no rust. The bottom of the door jams are clean (for a 30 year old car) with no rust. The usual problem areas for this car are clean.

I do have a California Car cover that goes with the car too...

The Interior:

Overall I would rate it a 8.5 out of 10. The only issue with the interior is the headliner. Over the winter it also decided to start to sag. It too will need replaced.

The seats are clean with no weathering or dry rotting to speak of. The carpet is not stained or have wear marks from excessive use - again it's a low mileage car, and the interior shows it.

The radio is original and the cassette player works. The speakers are original and need to be replaced but still work fine. (Concert Sound option)

The trunk has a finished kit installed and is original. There are a couple of spots that are worn (not sure from what) but it's the trunk.

The Motor:

The previous owner installed the 93 octane chip back into the car prior to me purchasing. The car could use a good tuning, but runs as expected with no service engine lights or funny sounds.

The exhaust rattles occasionally, but I haven't really figured out why. It doesn't do it all the time usually when the car is in park-idling. Again, the car comes with a number of chips, but I have never used any of the others.

I'm sure there is more, but I just can't think of anything else.

Now for the legal stuff....

I would highly recommend that you come see and drive the car if you are a serious buyer (I will be present on all test drives). If you damage the car on the test drive - well you buy it.

This car is being sold "as-is-where-is" and there is no warranty or guarantee. Please ask questions. If you bid on this car, you are entering a legal agreement to purchase the car, not a chance to come look at it. I have tried to be as fair and honest about the car as possible. It is a 30 year old car. If you have concerns about the car, come look at it.

If you have less than 10 bids, please contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid. I will not sell this car overseas, so don't even ask. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I will work with the shipping company of choice to make sure the car gets loaded properly.

Payment methods accepted are cash or certified funds (NO PAYPAL). I have the title in hand, and the car will not be released until all funds have cleared.

A $1,000 deposit is required within 24 hours of action end.

You can contact me via my cell at (317) 750-2962 between 8AM-9PM.

2014 Buick Regal GS

Mon, 09 Sep 2013

A few months ago I drove the 2014 Buick LaCrosse and wrote up a First Drive review of it. For all of my quibbles with that sedan (and I had a fair number), I understand that it speaks to the heart of what new Buick loyalists like in a car; it's roomy, has a cushy ride and is as placid as a summer's morning at highway speeds.
Those qualities, while undeniably desirable, don't mean a whole lot to me personally. I prefer sedans that conjure up words like "nimble," "punchy" or even "raucous" on occasion. So, directionally, the high-performance GS version of the 2014 Buick Regal is more my cup of tea than any other car in the company's current range.
In fact, I'd already come to know the Regal GS from its 2012 model year introduction, and grown more than a little fond of the sporting sedan in its original front-wheel-drive, six-speed-manual guise. The fast, sweet-handling car with well-sorted controls may have suffered from a slight identity crisis in terms of pricing (and may still), but it was undeniably fun to drive. So, when I heard that the GS was coming to market for 2014 with optional all-wheel drive (albeit only in combination with a six-speed automatic transmission), I was stoked to have another go and concentrated my driving impressions on the AWD car.

Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Detroit Auto Show [w/poll]

Here at Autoblog, we love unexpected debuts at auto shows – and judging by our Detroit Auto Show comments and traffic, you do, too. Surprise reveals have been fewer and farther between in recent years with so many ways for vehicles to be teased or leak out, but this week's show has been a revelation. More to the point, it's been a series of revelations, with automakers from around the globe successfully delivering a brace of concept and production surprises. It's made our jobs a lot more exciting and challenging this week, and even though it's actually more work to react and run-and-gun when the sheet is pulled on a surprise reveal than it is to publish an already-written embargoed story, we've had more fun covering this show for you than any domestic show in memory. We hope you've enjoyed the surprises along with us. To that end, borrowing the words of an unnamed automaker PR flack, we'd like to thank the following automakers for enduring "mountain of antacids" and that "creeping sense of paranoia" necessary to keeping ones' wares totally under wraps until the sheets are pulled off the sheetmetal: Buick Avenir concept Chevrolet Bolt concept Ford GT concept Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Hyundai HCD-15 Santa Cruz concept And while we're at it, we'd like to throw in an shout-out to Detroit's substantially revised and revitalized Cobo Center, and in particular, the redone Michelin media center, which is arguably the single best accommodations for writing show stories that we've encountered on the entire international circuit. Well done, everyone. Thank you, and keep the surprises coming. Auto News Detroit Auto Show Buick Chevrolet Ford Hyundai Volvo 2015 Detroit Auto Show

Junkyard Gem: 1992 Buick Century Woodie station wagon

Mon, Oct 9 2017

The Detroit station wagon with fake-wood exterior paneling had a good long postwar run, but minivans and — increasingly — sport utility vehicles were giving such wagons quite a beating in the showrooms by 1992. Buick was down to just two woodies by 1992; here's a discarded example of the front-wheel-drive Century, spotted in a Northern California self-service yard. Buick sold big rear-wheel-drive Roadmaster wagons with Simu-Wood™ siding through the 1996 model year, but the smaller Century was fairly plush. American car shoppers didn't insist on real-looking "wood" on their wagons, although Chrysler went much more three-dimensional with their plastic wood that did GM during this era. This one has the 3.3-liter Buick V6 engine, rated at 160 horsepower. This is not to be confused with the unrelated GM 60° V6, which was available in earlier and later Centuries. If only these seats could talk, they'd tell many tales of sibling battles and spilled fast food. Related Video:
