1987 Jet Black Buick Regal "Grand National" V-6 TURBO.  This car was only made for 5 years (1982- 1987) and this vehicle was the last production year of this awesome car (ONLY 20,193 of these cars were made in 1987).  It is equipped with a 3.8 SFI V-6 TURBO!  This is the FASTEST production car that Buick ever made and it is THE FASTEST  production car I have ever owned or driven.  This car SCREAMS to be let loose on the road (it has beat a 2010 Corvette and a 2011 Rally SS Camaro without breaking a sweat!).  Vehicle has detachable black smoke T-Tops with original storage covers in the trunk, original floor mats with the "GN" logo, original seats (driver's seat cloth has small tears from age and wear as well as minor ones on passenger seat).  Full set of front and backseat seat replacement covers included with the purchase (they are BRAND NEW in the box and were purchased from "Highway Stars" who specializes in Grand National replacement parts, NOS parts and OEM parts and GN restorations.  These cost me over $500 and they look as close as possible to the original seats.  I have received verbal estimates of about $250 to have them installed by a local upholstery shop).  "T" steering wheel.  Custom, rare and limited original GNX speedometer/gauge/dashboard (gauges work along with the "knock" sensor gauge" (you cannot buy these and no one makes them anymore.  This instrument panel is a ONE OF A KIND feature on this GN).  Vehicle has power windows, power seats, power door locks, power trunk release, cruise, power disc brakes, am/fm/cd/mp3/satellite radio (I purchased an "original" radio that I have never installed and it is included with the vehicle.....I don't know if it works as I have never connected it yet), a/c & heat work, tilt steering wheel, rear window defroster, lighter, driver's remote passenger mirror (doesn't work as well as it should).  Radio has a BOOMING amp/base speaker setup in trunk and sound output is PHENOMENAL (manual with radio included)!  Has original 1987 Texas tag issued to the vehicle and sale includes pictures, magazine articles, DVD, manuals, owners manual (not original but those can be found on ebay regularly if you are wanting that), pictures, GN turbo logo value stems, GN turbo logo key chain, GN mini-car keychain, extra original parts, all paperwork of car since purchase, model car kit of GN, GN Watch, original window sticker, two (2) laminated window stickers, car show displays and three (3) trophies where the car won first place in its class.  This car has won in EVERY car show it has ever been entered into but one!  This car turns heads EVERYWHERE it goes and it is an automatic conversation starter when/wherever I drive it.  Car garage kept and covered at all times.  Only driven to/from car shows, car washing/gas and the occasional joyrides.  This car purrrrs down the road and only premium fuels have been used.  Oil fresh, tires look new and battery about one year old.  Full size original spare tire in truck.  Too many extras to list here, but this car is ready to show with all the extras.  You WILL NOT be disappointed with this MONSTER of a classic car!

Buick begins offering 24-hour test drives

Mon, Jul 20 2015

Even as the year's sales charts show a decline, Buick says its brand image is improving. To bolster that soft metric while it works on overhauling its lineup - consumers are clamoring for more crossovers - the brand will begin offering overnight test drives as of July 23. Buick trialled the program in Phoenix and got a good response, so it rolls out as an ad-supported nationwide campaign called "24 Hours of Happiness" as of July 22. The push is on probation for three months while Buick evaluates it, but they expect it to continue beyond 90 days. Cars will be sourced from the loaner fleets that dealers offer customers whose cars are in for service, so only dealers with such fleets will be able to participate. General Motors did the same thing in 2003 and 2004, at the time saying it led to more than 500,000 "extended" test drives and close to 190,000 sales. That program had a cash component, in that buyers were offered $250 if they chose a non-GM vehicle after their test drive. 24 Hours of Happiness won't come with any inducements; Buick is taking the long view, positioning this as support for the brand instead of as bait for immediate returns. The Phoenix dealer who ran the program first said that it got fewer bites than he expected, but that customers who took a car home "were far more likely to buy the vehicle." Cue the Regal GS hooning in three, two... Related Video:

Despite strong profits, GM still fighting flat market share

Fri, Jan 17 2014

Looking at the progress General Motors has made since it entered bankruptcy, it's easy to forget that the company still has a long way to go before it's the juggernaut it once was. A recent report from Reuters points out that, while GM is making money, it isn't making any gains in terms of US market share. Quite the opposite, really. Consider this factoid: In 1963, nearly half of the cars sold in the United States were from Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC or Pontiac. Now, the company's US market share is stagnant at 17.9 percent. That same number is half of just Chevy's 1963 market share. This is all despite GM going on a binge replacing or updating its models. "Market share increases are not instantaneous," Mark Reuss told Reuters at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. "We've got a lot of baggage. Don't underestimate what people though of us, or these brands, through these hardships and 30 years." The reasons for the stagnant market share are numerous. Reuters points out that retooling of factories and a focus on limiting incentives are both good things for profit, but not necessarily for market share. There's also the troubling turnover of the brand's marketing department. These issues don't change the fact that Chevrolet has lost 1.4 percent of its market share in two years, and that Cadillac - arguably GM's most improved brand overall - has lost 1.2 percent in the same period. Part of that can be blamed on GM's avoidance of fleet sales in favor of more profitable customer sales. "Our focus has really been on retail and that's where we've got the growth," said Alan Batey, GM's interim global marketing boss. "We want to grow GM and that means growing market share and profits, but it's not at all costs," Reuss said. 2018 Buick Regal TourX First Drive Review | Pop the champagne, it's another wagon!

Tue, Jan 30 2018

As a newborn member of an endangered species, we should probably pop open the Dom to fete the arrival of the 2018 Buick Regal TourX. It's a wagon, after all, and if there's anything we automotive writers have been clamoring for is more wagons. "Forget those SUVs," we've implored. "This wagon over here is better! Just as much cargo space, better to drive! And have you seen it in brown?" Well, it seems like our collective proselytizing is starting to pay off, or perhaps far more likely, consumer tastes are shifting a bit to appreciate the wagon. Sure, they need to be lifted a bit and sport plastic fender flares to add a wee bit of SUV-ish flavor, but who the hell cares? Beggars, choosers, etc. It's a wagon, and we should be happy it's here. And we are, the Regal TourX is a pretty good one that thankfully offers more than just its mere existence. It especially delivers on the space front, which is refreshing since most of today's wagons are not as cargo friendly as the collective "we" would like to admit. An Audi Q5 regrettably does have more cargo space than an Audi A4 Allroad. Yet, the TourX has more than both – considerably more in fact, coming in at a certifiably huge 73.5 cubic feet of maximum space. The difference is palpable between it and the 53.5-cubic-foot Allroad, which Buick considers the TourX's closest competitor. As the below video (somewhat) demonstrates, I was able to cram 12 Patagonia duffle bags into the Allroad, filling up most of the cabin. The same amount in the TourX left tons of residual space, you could still see out the back and loading it all in didn't require a degree in Advanced Tetris. There's also a far more useful amount of space with the back seat raised (32.7 vs. 24.2). That area is especially lengthy, and with the large rear quarter windows and reasonably square roofline, it should be a good choice for dog owners. There's no built-in dog net behind the back seat as you'll find in the Allroad and BMW 3 Series wagon (you'd have to go the aftermarket route), but your four-legged buddy should at least appreciate the lower liftover/jump-aboard height. Which brings us to the next wagon benefit: the lower roof height. According to Buick's marketing folks, people who buy off-roadish wagons like the Regal TourX are far more likely to actually live the outdoorsy active lifestyles the owners of SUVs usually only envision for themselves.
