1987 Buick Grand National on 2040-cars
Miami, Florida, United States
VIDEO** http://youtu.be/YmfPPuynpII 1987 Grand National T-tops W/ Digital Dash Mechanical: This car has a rebuilt motor .30 over block new pistons new timing set, all new gaskets new water pump new front cover and HV oil pump. I have receipts for everything. Heads were re-done with minor port / bowl work, new valve springs new cam/lifter kit from comp. Fuel: 37# injectors and Billet adjustable Accufab fuel pressure regulator to support the new motor i bought a new hotwire kit and Walbro pump and ac filter were installed. I also decided on a Casper's volt booster. Intake: Touched up the intake and dog house / ported TB - RJC powerplate with a 3 inch cold air kit. K&N filter. LT1 MAF & Translator. Exhaust: Header's were welded so no crack on the headeers. We added a THDP 3 inch downpipe with a 21/2 dual exhaust to the back. JET turbine whistle is ridiculous with the ta49 !! Cooling : The cooling in Miami's heat is extremely important! The sun wreaks havoc on bad cooling setups. So to tackle it i installed a 160 degree thermostat. New fbody Radiator with dual electric fans and thermoswitch. Currently running purified water. AC is absolutely new bought the lines on here, had to buy a new Ac compressor, new drier, new expansion valve. To complete the job properly we cleaned, flushed and vacuumed the complete Ac system. Transmission: Stock rebuild has firm and positive shifts. Converter is a red stripe, stall speed seems to be right around 2600. TA49 spools instantly. Stock 8.5 Rear with new fluid looks great. Brakes/Suspension, 8.5 Rear stock with 3.42 gears new fluid installed. Posi ! New Disc up front with new bearings new bushings nice and tight. Body: Paint is nice and straight i would easily rate it 7 out of 10 small scratches very small door ding barely noticeable. Doors look good underneath and per pics you can see no holes on the floor! This combo is a quick-spooling, put you in your seat combo. My goals for the car with these modifications was to have a quick, reliable and streetable package that I could jump in and take on a 500 mile road trip with no worries!! The drive train is in great condition with under 1,500 miles on engine. She runs, shifts and drives great! Interior: Clean no rips, Scanmaster, boost and water temp console gauges, the interior is as it left GM in 1987. It is in exceptional condition given its age and the seats and door panels show very little wear. The factory original carpet is clean. Given these issues, I would critically rate the interior an 8/9 out of 10. Wheels/Tires/Suspension: Grand National Rims with Mickey Thompson Drag Radials, Summary/Price: Overall, this is a very, very nice car I would not consider this a quality trailer queen, but a decent turbo regal that runs and drives beautifully. I have enjoyed this car a great deal since I have owned it. I no longer have the time or interest in this car I once had. Although I am looking to sell the car, I am NOT faced with a "must sell" situation. General inquiries may text or call - 786-487-9775 The bad: Rebuilt title , History shows it was branded in 1994 no type of case information available. Honestly i have exhausted my search on any info on why it was branded. I checked chassis everything is straight. From what i have researched these car's were easily branded at that time. In 94 these car's had a very low book value. This car has been taken care of this isn't a POS by far! |

38k GM eAssist hybrids recalled for circuit board, fire risk
Mon, 06 May 2013General Motors has issued a recall covering 38,197 2012 and 2013 model-year Chevy Malibu Eco, Buick LaCrosse and Regal sedans equipped with eAssist, and sold in the United States. The automaker will check the generator control module for proper operation. Only vehicles built before December 2012 are being recalled.
According to the automaker, a malfunctioning generator control module could slowly drain the battery, causing an indicator to light up in the dash. If that indicator is ignored, the driver may experience a stalling engine, and in some cases, "a burning or melting odor, smoke, and, in rare instances, a fire in the trunk."
GM says the issue is not with the eAssist battery pack; the smoke and fire comes from overheating of the control board. One trunk fire has been reported, but no injuries are known. Scroll down below for the official press release from GM.
Weekly Recap: Ford GT inspires guitar, foosball table, sailboat
Sat, Apr 18 2015Ford design vice president Moray Callum had just wrapped up a briefing on the interior of the Ford GT last month, but something seemed out of place. He grinned and pointed behind him, "You might be wondering why I have a boat behind me," he said mischievously. It was there because Ford set its designers on a mission to stretch and showcase their talents: design non-automotive objects inspired by the interior of the GT supercar. Callum received quite a response, too. His team produced a guitar, a foosball table (yeah bro!), a racing sailboat, a Wi-Fi speaker and some furniture. As the veteran design chief explained, "It's a really great exercise both to highlight our designers' talents, but also to really see how our design philosophy can work and how you can use it and get a common response back from a worldwide design team." Guitar View 25 Photos The objects have been on display this week at the Salone del Mobile furniture and fashion design fair in Milan, Italy, where Ford has had a presence for three years. There's also a light exhibition that apparently was inspired by the GT, as well. While this might seem a little far-fetched for the automaker, Ford said exhibitions like the Salone del Mobile give its designers another way to be creative and ultimately produce striking interior style. Ford wants this to be a differentiator, as research shows consumers are placing emphasis on the layout and features inside when they're making a decision about buying a new car. It's a little light hearted – but it's also potentially big business. Other News & Notes Cadillac CT6 platform could be used for Buick General Motors product chief Mark Reuss said the Cadillac CT6 platform could be used for a large Buick, though "not yet," Automotive News reported. The underpinnings can accommodate rear-wheel or all-wheel drive and would give Buick the large flagship it lacks. The report jibes with comments Reuss made at a roundtable with Autoblog and other reporters at the New York Auto Show. When asked if Buick had space for a large car on the CT6 chassis, he replied, "Yeah, I think it does. Yeah, I think we do." Buick has revamped its lineup in recent years with attractive crossovers and small and midsize sedans, but hasn't added the proverbial flagship that's yearned for by enthusiasts. Buick surprised industry observers with the stylish Avenir concept at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year that raised the possibility of a halo sedan.
Junkyard Gem: Heavily personalized 1997 Buick Skylark Custom Sedan
Wed, Mar 27 2019Normally I wouldn't be much interested in a third-generation GM N-Body (a family that includes the Chevy Malibu and Olds Achieva) spotted in the junkyard, though a case could be made for such a vehicle's historical significance. This '97 Skylark, however, arrived in a Northern California self-service wrecking yard well-plastered with stickers, reflectors, and other personalizing touches, making it an interesting document of its time and place. It appears that both of the original white fenders got mashed and then replaced with blue ones, almost certainly obtained cheaply at a yard like this one. If you're not going to paint your new fenders to match the car, then you're already well down the slippery slope to making the car a giant mobile canvas to display your interests. A 20-year-old GM N-Body, regardless of how nice it was when new, isn't worth much, and you could stretch a line of these cars from Lansing to Lahore with all the used-up Ns sitting in American wrecking-yard inventory right now. Perhaps it was the grandchild of the car's original owner who indulged in White Widow cannabis and listened to Siouxsie & the Banshees. The odds against finding the original window sticker in a car like this are mighty long, but here it is. Sold new at Putnam Buick in Burlingame. It appears that this car spent most of its final decade in or near Mill Valley. Mill Valley is a mere 30 miles from Burlingame, or about three hours of Buick driving (you have to go past SFO, through San Francisco, and across the Golden Gate Bridge, a journey featuring apocalyptically terrible traffic at just about any time). Drive east across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and you'll get to this Skylark's final parking space, about 20 miles from Mill Valley. This car lived its whole life near the shores of San Francisco Bay, and it will die there. Feathers and a political-party charm adorn the headliner. This car's final owner had a practical side, as we can see from the many reflectors and lengths of safety tape. Just the thing for avoiding a T-bone wreck in the dead of night! "Essentially, Skylark embodies all of the features customers expect from a Buick, in a smaller package, with a very attractive MSRP."
