1986 Buick Regal T-type Coupe 2-door 3.8l on 2040-cars
Miami, Florida, United States
Condition: I would say it is in very good condition. It has the tiniest amount of rust from its first 2 years in the NE. Both bottom corners of the doors have a little rust, also, the corners of the trunk underneath the rear window, have a small amount of rust. One of them has been rigged with a plastic bag so that water does not seep into the trunk. The other side is not leaking. There is some pitting on the chrome components in the engine bay. The car was sitting in a carport for 8 years in South Florida so the paint is not in the best condition. The owner had it fixed about a year ago to get it running again. It had ran fine when he parked it 8 years ago, but not so much 8 years later. The fuel injection system, ignition, and fuel injectors had to be replaced, a new battery was added, and the gas tank was removed, cleaned, and resprayed. He has put about a thousand problem free miles since then. There is one small crack in the dash from the sun. There are absolutely no stains, burns or tears whatsoever on the seats, carpets, door panels, trunk carpet, or any other interior surface. The pictures don't do it justice because of the light, but interior is in tip top shape. Everything works, AC, Radio, Turn signals, lights, windows, etc. It is in need of a very minor cosmetic restoration to get this to concours quality.
Features: If you are intending to do a full restoration, we have the original rims available for a nominal fee. History: The vehicle was originally owned by the current owners Sergeant from Vietnam in the NE. He bought it after he had had it for a couple of years and the vehicle was relocated to South Florida from the NE. He had it parked in a carport for the last 8 years, and it ran fine when he parked it. To get it running again, he had the fuel injection system, battery, ignition system and injectors replaced. The gas tank was removed, drained, cleaned, and resprayed. He has put about a thousand trouble free miles on it since he got it running again, he also put new Michelin tires on it. He held onto the vehicle for sentimental reasons, but is retired now, and the car is just not practical for him anymore. I wanted to do the full restoration and try to get high retail for the vehicle or send it to the Barrett Jackson Arizona auction, but he does not want to put any more money into it and wants to sell it as is. Shipping and Payment: Buyer responsible for shipping arrangements. Cashiers check, cash, or money order are acceptable forms of payment, as well as paypal. Potential buyers can come visit the vehicle during the auction period, please contact me if you wish to do so. The vehicle is located in the Pinecrest-Dadeland area of Miami. |

Junkyard Gem: 1997 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight LSS Supercharged
Tue, Mar 21 2017Oldsmobile got terminated by The General in 2005, in part because the marketing suits decided that the first three letters of the marque's name made the cars undesirable to the under-75 set (never mind that 21st-century rappers continue to venerate Oldsmobiles). Not long before the demise of Olds, though, you could buy an Eighty-Eight with the supercharged L67 V6, known as the Luxury Sports Sedan or LSS. These cars are very rare today, but I spotted this '97 in a Denver self-service wrecking yard. These Eaton blowers are now so easy to find in wrecking yards that most of them go unpicked by customers. The going rate for this supercharger is about 50 bucks, because everyone who wants one already has a big hoard of the things. If you have ever wanted to drop a supercharger onto your crapcan race car's engine, now is the time. Performance was respectable for the era, with output of 240 hp and 280 lb-ft. The 3800 was the descendant of the ancient Buick V6, which debuted way back in 1962, so GM had had many decades in which to make it a dependable (though not very smooth-running) powerplant. Yes, you could still buy big ol' sedans with rear drums at the dawn of the 21st century. Did the LSS steal any sales from potential BMW or Mercedes-Benz buyers? Probably not many, though its $27,695 price tag must have looked pretty tempting when compared to that of the much slower $32,960 Lexus ES 300 in 1997. Right now is the best time to make a resolution you'll enjoy sticking with. The reviewers at Popular Mechanics were unable to break the first-year LSS. New Buick Verano testing in Germany
Thu, 29 May 2014A refresh to Buick's popular Verano sedan appears to be nigh, thanks to these spy photos that show the tweaked four-door testing in Germany.
As with the current Verano, the refreshed model will have a great deal in common with its European platform-mates, the Vauxhall/Opel Astra. Each car rides on General Motors's Delta II platform. Unlike the current car, though, the refreshed model's styling could lean more heavily towards its European roots, if these photos are any indication.
Despite its commonality with the Astra Sedan, the Verano has featured its own unique styling since arriving in the US back in 2011 as a 2012 model, with distinct fascias at both the front and back, as wells its own headlight and taillight designs. The two cars were still rebadged vehicles, but it was more subtle than it will be in 2015, when the refreshed Verano arrives. Astra-like elements are expected to dominate, particularly in regards to the headlights and taillights. That said, trademark Buick styling features will remain, like the waterfall grille. Really, then, the 2016 Verano won't be unlike the Regal - a rebadged Vauxhall/Opel Insignia, aside from a few very small styling details.
MotorWeek remembers the nearly forgotten Buick Reatta
Thu, Feb 18 2016The Reatta was Buick's failed experiment to take on European competitors with its own two-seat luxury coupe and convertible. The model only lasted a few years, and US customers didn't see another droptop from the brand until the Cascada. The latest MotorWeek Retro Review takes a look back at the short-lived roadster and remembers it quite fondly. Host John Davis calls the 1990 Reatta droptop "one of the best looking convertibles ever." His sentiment seems a little hyperbolic, but the roadster is definitely an attractive machine by the standards of the time. The smooth front end and pop-up headlights are reminiscent of Japanese sports cars of era, and the profile with the top down is elegant. There are weaknesses, though. The manual roof mechanism appears cumbersome to operate, and the crude digital instruments, which simulate physical dials, make the cabin look too dated. Other than a complaint about over-boosted power steering, MotorWeek enjoys how the Reatta drives, too. Buick's roadster is largely forgotten today, but such glowing praise suggests it deserves to be better remembered. Check out this Retro Review to look back on this interesting experiment from the early '90s. Related Video:
