Up for sale is my 1986 Buick Regal with only 34,490 miles. Car is all original matching number. Paint is original,it has some scratches on the sides, not a rust spot any where. It was treated with an under coating (Bilstein R-2000) since new. The chrome on the bumpers and the stainless steel moldings are in excellent condition. The half top is in great shape,a true sign that the car was garaged all its life. The interior is in excellent condition, but the only thing replaced there was the head liner. The hood liner was also replaced. The brakes are in good shape, it has new shocks and I added a rear sway bar, and replaced the front one for a thicker one, added the Grand National wheels, and all this gave the car a more sportier ride. The motor runs great, it was tuned up, and the carburetor was professionally rebuilt. It has new plugs cap, and rotor cables. The thermostat and the housing was replaced, valve cover gaskets, and put a K&N air filter. Valve covers and the cover of the air filter where powder coded black. The spring on the oil pump was changed with a new one to bring the pressure back up. It has a new PWR performance aluminum radiator with custom brackets to be able to put a electric fan, it is a 4 row radiator so if you are looking to put a V8 in the car this will work grate. All the fluids where replaced oil, coolant, the oil on the rear end, trans & filter. I replaced the muffler for a stainless steel Magna flow with a 3" side pipe in stainless steel. I have the original muffler that is in good condition, with its side pipe. The AC is ice cold it was charged up. I also installed a MP3 input that works off the original radio, the small center console I made to hold my MP3 player is not bolted on so it can be removed if wanted. The only not working thing in the car is the cassette player. I put a dash pad on it, not to cover any thing up the dash is in good condition. It has tinted windows and a PA inspection good till 12/14. I have the original wheels and tires & hubcaps. Car can be seen and driven I have insurance on it. GM admits goal of 500,000 EVs by 2017 won't be met
Sat, May 9 2015After a little over four years of Chevy Volt sales, General Motors has a better handle on how many people it expects will buy cars with plugs. And it's less than the company thought back in 2012, when then-senior vice president of global product development, Mary Barra, said that GM expected to sell 500,000 "vehicles with electrification" by 2017. In a sustainability report released this week, GM says that half-million vehicle target will not be met but that it still, "believes the future is electric." In the report, GM says that, "For our commitment to electrification, our forecasted outlook currently projects us, along with the broader automotive industry, falling short of expectations for 2017. ... We continue to aspire to our stated goal." GM's electric lineup includes the Volt, the recently popular Spark EV, the slow-selling Cadillac ELR and upcoming Malibu Hybrid, CT6 plug-in hybrid and eAssist technology in the Buick LaCrosse and Regal. GM says it has 180,834 electrified vehicles on the road in the US today. In 2013, it had 153,034; 95,578 in 2012, and 39,843 in 2011. The company's next big plug-in vehicle will be the second-gen Chevy Volt, which is coming to market later this year, followed by the 200-mile Bolt EV coming, we think, in 2017. GM Employees on Mission to Transform Transportation Sustainability report outlines vehicle and manufacturing progress; sets new targets 2015-05-07 DETROIT – General Motors' just-released sustainability report chronicles efforts by the company's 216,000 employees to live out GM's newly defined purpose and values by earning customer loyalty, applying meaningful technology advances and improving the communities where it does business. These actions – led by CEO Mary Barra – further drive sustainability into the company's culture through building safer and smarter vehicles with less environmental impact. "GM will take a leading role in the auto industry's transformation as it undergoes an unprecedented period of change," said Bob Ferguson, senior vice president, GM Global Public Policy. "From GM's labs to its assembly lines, our people are driving the world to a better place through improved mobility." The company believes the future is electric, with billions of investment to support an all-in-house approach to the development and manufacturing of electrified vehicles. It now counts 180,834 on the road in the U.S – up from 153,034 in 2013.
J.D. Power study sees new car dependability problems increase for first time since 1998
Wed, 12 Feb 2014For the first time since 1998, J.D. Power and Associates says its data shows that the average number of problems per 100 cars has increased. The finding is the result of the firm's much-touted annual Vehicle Dependability Study, which charts incidents of problems in new vehicle purchases over three years from 41,000 respondents.
Looking at first-owner cars from the 2011 model year, the study found an average of 133 problems per 100 cars (PP100, for short), up 6 percent from 126 PP100 in last year's study, which covered 2010 model-year vehicles. Disturbingly, the bulk of the increase is being attributed to engine and transmission problems, with a 6 PP100 boost.
Interestingly, JDP notes that "the decline in quality is particularly acute for vehicles with four-cylinder engines, where problem levels increase by nearly 10 PP100." Its findings also noticed that large diesel engines also tended to be more problematic than most five- and six-cylinder engines.
GM expanding Lansing Lambda CUV plant
Thu, 30 Oct 2014Considering that crossovers are a rapidly growing portion of the US auto market, it's not surprising to hear that General Motors is preparing to build even more of them. The company is investing $63 million to expand its Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant that builds Lambda platform CUVs like the Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave.
According to GM, the expansion will add roughly 263,000 extra square feet of space to the plant. Of that, 181,000 square feet will be for an updated body shop with cutting-edge robots. There will also be 54,000 square feet of additional room in the paint shop and 28,000 square feet of more area for general assembly.
GM isn't saying as much, but there is the possibility that this extra space could allow for additional models produced at the factory. Cadillac reportedly dropped plans to build a three-row SUV on the Lambda platform earlier this year, however, dealers for the luxury brand were recently pitched the possibility of adding large and small CUVs, an ATS convertible or a sedan below the ATS.
