1978 Buick Regal 2 Door V8 on 2040-cars
Oak Creek, Wisconsin, United States
1978 Buick Regal two door coupe. Car is a factory V8 automatic with the 305 Chevy motor. Car suns and drives good. It does have a small exhaust tick on the right side (heat riser?) that goes away when its warmed up. It has brand new full dual exhaust with flowmaster mufflers, sounds great. I dont know exact mileage, just had to put a number in for ebay. The body is very solid. Buick ralleye wheels with fair white letter tires. Car is white, used to be a baby blue. Paint is average, not show by any means. There is a hole in the drivers floor starting. the rest of the floor pans are solid, the trunk pan is excellent and the frame is clean...even at the rear bumper mounts! No rust that I see anywhere other than the hole in the floor. The interior is blue. Has a power seat but it is broken. I will include a pair of black high back bucket seats with the car, not sure the original application they came with. It has a maroon steering column with tile and an Oldsmobile steering wheel. Headliner is homeade and the rest of the interior is dirty and getting worn. Dash has no cracks, just the speaker grill on top. Has a blaupunkt cd player that runs a single speaker on the floor that works fine. (not mounted properly so its a bit loose and its not wired to hold radio station memory.) Glass is all good, power windows and locks work. The taillights are no longer black as shown in the pictures and there are no rear bumper fillers on the car. It is an old car, therefore it is sold as is and has no warranty or guarantee. Buyer is responsible to pick up or have shipped or I can deliver for 1.50 a loaded mile, please ask first. Payment will be cash on pickup only.
I may consider partial trades up or down. 1977 or 1978 trans am, 1973 grand am or GTO, Hurst Olds or 442 or ?? |

Repo man pays off elderly couple's car just in time for Thanksgiving
Mon, Nov 28 2016Repo men get bad raps for a good reason; no one likes having their car taken away. At least one guy in the repossession game proved folks in his profession aren't all bad when he helped an elderly couple hold on to their wheels right before Thanksgiving. According to the Belleville News-Democrat, unexpected bills and the rising cost of prescription medications pushed Stanford and Patty Kipping's fixed income to the breaking point. Unable to keep up with the $95 dollar a month payment on their 1998 Buick, they fell into arrears and the bank sent a repo man out to their home in Red Bud, Illinois to reclaim the car. Jim Ford, co-owner of Illini Recovery Inc., hooked up the old Buick and dragged it away, but later that night his conscience caught up with him. "When I got home that night, I said to myself, 'They are a real nice elderly couple. I gotta do something. I can't just take their car,'" Ford told the News-Democrat. Ford did do something, something surprisingly humane. He set up a GoFundMe and, within just a few short hours, he raised more than $3,500 dollars. This was enough money to pay off the Kipping's loan with a little left over for some maintenance. Ford and a friend then hooked the car back up and towed it back to the Kipping's home. Ford presented the couple with their trusty Buick, and threw in a thousand dollars in an envelope and a frozen turkey for Thanksgiving. "It was a miracle come true," Patty told the paper. "We didn't know what we were going to do." "I got up this morning and I looked up at the sun and I said, 'I hope we get our car back,'" added Stanford. "It's just unbelievable."Related Video: News Source: Belleville News-Democrat Auto News Weird Car News Buick repossession repo man
GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say
Fri, 05 Apr 2013The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.
The importance of Angel Eyes, Ventiports and four round taillights
Sun, 01 Sep 2013Just the other day, we told you about how Lincoln isn't really a luxury brand, according to Ford's head design man, J Mays. His argument was that Lincoln lacked the unique DNA to differentiate it from the rest of the market, although the arrival of the MKZ is beginning to change that. Now, we have this video from Autoline Detroit, where Jim Hall, an analyst for 2953 Analytics who was quoted in yesterday's Lincoln story, explains the influence of certain styling cues and how they impact the brands.
Using BMW (Angel Eyes) and Buick (Ventiports) as examples for small, simple touches that serve to distinguish the brand's vehicles on the road, Hall then points out how changing trademark styling features, as Chevrolet has done on the new Corvette Stingray, can hurt the vehicle's public perception. Take a look at the full video below for an interesting dive into what these styling features mean to their individual brands.
