1991 Buick Reatta Convertible 2053 original documented miles, showroom new
Up for auction is one of the finest original 1991 Buick Reatta convertibles ever to be offered with only 2053 documented original miles and in showroom condition.
The Reatta was a hand built limited production automobile introduced by Buick in 1988 ending production in 1991. The 1991 model year was extremely limited with only 305 Reatta convertibles made and only 238 to be offered to the public for sale.
The Buick Reatta offered here is an incredible original example. It is a 100% original vehicle including mileage, paint, interior and even the tires. This Buick is finished in one of the best color combinations. Finished in the beautiful bright red with the red leather interior with the contrasting white convertible top. There was only ten 1991 Reatta convertibles produced in this color combination and this is the only one with no factory pinstripe.
As mentioned this Reatta with only 2053 miles totally reflects its incredible original condition. The under carriage is as clean as the exterior having only been driven on ideal dry cruising days. The exterior finish is all original with a high gloss and shine and free of any major paint issues.
Also, there is much documentation with this beautiful automobile and included is the original window sticker price, listed new at $36,916.00 – a very expensive car in 1991.
The all original interior shows impeccable free of any rips, stains or tears. The factory accessories include both 6 way power seats, power windows, power locks, AM/FM stereo, CD player, driver’s side air bag, cruise, tilt, electronic climate control including air conditioning and a fully digital instrument panel including English/Metric conversion button. There were only two options, a CD player and 16 way driver’s seat and this Reatta does not have the 16 way driver’s seats.
The convertible top is all original in white and is in perfect condition the glass back window.
Under the hood is the powerful V6 3800 series, complimented with the 4 speed automatic transmission which is a great performing combination. The engine and engine bay are also spotless and both perform perfectly. The factory 16” aluminum wheels are in perfect condition with no curb rash.
Also included is the highly revered leather bound Buick Reatta Portfolio. This contains “The Reatta” hand crafted Buick story of the Reatta, road atlas, Reatta owner’s manual, Reatta note pad, Reatta pen light, Regatta pen, Reatta air gauge as well as the Reatta craftsman log. This is a page signed by Supervisors of each department who had a hand in building this car.
Overall, this is an outstanding original 1991 Buick Reatta convertible that would please the most discriminating collector. 2017 Buick LaCrosse First Drive
Fri, Aug 5 2016The 2017 Buick LaCrosse seems destined to never get the credit it deserves. It's bound to be dismissed as just another full-size sedan relic, ignored by those who habitually visit their Lexus dealer every few years for a new ES. This new LaCrosse will inevitably be overshadowed in the Buick showroom by SUVs and never fully appreciated by the majority of its buyers who simply want a big, comfy, and quiet car. That destiny would be a shame. The completely redesigned LaCrosse is now a legitimate luxury car, not because advertisements say it is, but for the way it drives, the way it looks, and the way it cossets you inside. The former is really the most impressive, since it's also the most surprising. During the LaCrosse press launch in Portland, Oregon, Buick boasted how comfortable and exceedingly quiet the car is, and indeed, it isolates road imperfections and allows for a pair of low talkers to converse in subdued tones. The big Buick sedan's low-effort steering will also satisfy the nice-and-easy tastes of most drivers. The best way to describe driving the LaCrosse is "unwaveringly pleasant." Yet, during that pleasant drive, road dips and mid-corner undulations don't make the comfort-tuned suspension bob and bound like its competitors might. Its body control and generally planted nature encourage speeds and confidence to creep ever so higher through successive sweeping corners on Oregon's densely forested Mist-Clatskanie Highway. Even that low-effort steering demonstrates precision, linearity, and just enough feedback to further spur on such a pace. This unexpected capability is best observed on cars equipped with the optional 20-inch wheels, which supplant the standard 18s and, more importantly, bring with them Continuous Damping Control (CDC) and GM's HiPer Strut front suspension, which is designed to quell torque steer and further improve cornering grip. You don't even have to engage CDC's firmer Sport mode to appreciate the LaCrosse's surprisingly sharp road manners. "We unleashed the engineers," chief engineer Jeffrey Yanssens said after our test drive. "I told them, 'I don't care how much it costs. I want you to know your system and I want your system to be the best it can be. What do you have to do to make that happen and what can I do to enable you to make that happen?'" Yanssens is honest and clearly proud of his team's work.
Junkyard Gem: 1997 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight LSS Supercharged
Tue, Mar 21 2017Oldsmobile got terminated by The General in 2005, in part because the marketing suits decided that the first three letters of the marque's name made the cars undesirable to the under-75 set (never mind that 21st-century rappers continue to venerate Oldsmobiles). Not long before the demise of Olds, though, you could buy an Eighty-Eight with the supercharged L67 V6, known as the Luxury Sports Sedan or LSS. These cars are very rare today, but I spotted this '97 in a Denver self-service wrecking yard. These Eaton blowers are now so easy to find in wrecking yards that most of them go unpicked by customers. The going rate for this supercharger is about 50 bucks, because everyone who wants one already has a big hoard of the things. If you have ever wanted to drop a supercharger onto your crapcan race car's engine, now is the time. Performance was respectable for the era, with output of 240 hp and 280 lb-ft. The 3800 was the descendant of the ancient Buick V6, which debuted way back in 1962, so GM had had many decades in which to make it a dependable (though not very smooth-running) powerplant. Yes, you could still buy big ol' sedans with rear drums at the dawn of the 21st century. Did the LSS steal any sales from potential BMW or Mercedes-Benz buyers? Probably not many, though its $27,695 price tag must have looked pretty tempting when compared to that of the much slower $32,960 Lexus ES 300 in 1997. Right now is the best time to make a resolution you'll enjoy sticking with. The reviewers at Popular Mechanics were unable to break the first-year LSS. 2015 Buick Verano gets styling tweak, loses 6-speed manual
Fri, 06 Jun 2014Well, all good things must come to an end. For 2015, the Buick Verano's experiment with a manual transmission will cease, as the American manufacturer has announced it will discontinue the 6MT in the turbocharged version of its compact sedan. According to Buick, the take rate on the Verano Turbo 6MT was (unsurprisingly) low, leading to its discontinuation.
That's not the only bit of news for the Verano, though. After a few years on the market, Buick has seen fit to refresh the popular sedan. The visual changes aren't huge, really, with subtle tweaks to the headlights and taillights. We'd bargain that the average passer-by wouldn't notice a difference between the two.
The main aesthetic change is a new appearance package, available on the mid-range Convenience and Leather option groups. Unimaginatively called just that - Appearance Package - it offers up a new paint color, Desert Dusk Metallic, as well as a grille treatment and a rear spoiler. The new package is, however, limited to naturally aspirated models.
