1990 Buick Reatta Convertible on 2040-cars
Raleigh, North Carolina, United States
If you're reading this ad, you've probably been looking for just the right Reatta to enjoy and drive. Look no further, this is it! This example is sporting just over 140,000 original miles. Just barely getting broken in. I have personally driven Reattas with over 280,000 miles. These cars, if well maintained, will last a long time. I bought this car in Rock Hill, SC in 2012, and This car has been my personal car for over two years, and I've driven it almost on a daily basis during warm months. It is garaged during the winter, and as I said before, is completely rust free. During my ownership, along with regular oil changes, I have fixed, isntalled, and upgraded the following items ~New Haartz cloth convertible top with heated glass back window (April 2013 - 134,000 miles) Upgraded from factory original vinyl to a durable top that will last for years. ~New color keyed headliner. (April 2013 - 134,000 miles) Tan to match the interior. Replaced the factory black, and removes the claustrophobic cave feel. ~New ABS Brake accumulator (July 2012 - 123,000 miles) A must have on any Reatta to ensure the reliability of the brake system ~Refurbished headlight motors with lifetime limited warranty (June 2012 122,000 miles) Headlight problems are a guarnteed problem with Reattas. No need to ever worry about it with this car. ~NOS sunvisor clips installed (February 2013 - 133,500 miles) These are normally broken. I replaced with New Old Stock from GM ~Refurbished factory radio and CD player (January 2013 - 133,500) the CD player is a rare option on 1990 and 1991 Reattas. This one has been professionally overhauled. ~New speakers all around (June 2012 - 122,000 miles) The entire stereo has been gone through and sounds like new ~New Monroe Sensatrac struts on all four corners (June 2013 -135,000 miles) No bouncing, rattling, moaning, or any other unpleasant sounds. The car rides like a true Buick again. ~New brake pads on all four corners (June 2013 -135,000 miles) Yet again, another thing you don't have to worry about with this car. ~New 16" chrome wheels with custom Reatta center caps (September 2012 -129,000 miles) They add a look to this Reatta that you just won't find on any other car. ~New Toyo Versado 215/60/16 tires (September 2012 -129,000 miles) Ride great, very quiet, and still have tons of rubber left on them. Many more miles of carefree cruising. Not to mention the beautifully working A/C (converted to R134a) that blows hard and cold, and the overall great condition of the car. No rips or tears in the leather upholstery, the optional 16-way power driver's seat works flawlessly in all functions. The 16-way seats were engineered by Leer Corp and really give you great support. The best description I have heard of to describe them is that they feel like you're sitting IN them rather than on them which is what you feel with the standard seats. I am 5' 11" and very comfortable. I have some customers that are over 6' and will not have anything but a 16-way seat in their car because it's so much more comfortable. Particularly to tall people The car comes with the original window sticker. The car was originally a Buick Motor Division Show Car. It's equipped with all availble options, even the YF5 California Emissions Certification. All of this information is on the window sticker for your viewing pleasure. Being a BMD showcar, when it was finally sold to the public, it was given simply the owners manual in the leather sleeve. Not the coveted Owner's Portfolio that Reattas are known for having. I do have an extra complete owner's portfolio that I can include with the car for $500 extra of the final sale price. This may not be a perfect original example, but it is a stunning car that's fun to drive, and is very comfortable for two people and luggage. Day trips to the beach or the mountains, or long trips to wherever! The perfect retirement car to tour in. Not to mention it's a great car for tooling around town in running errands and taking to Friday night cruise-ins. The paint is a 7/10. Not perfect, but very presentable. It has two small chips in the front windshield on the driver's side (see picture). The previous owner said he had them sealed, and they have never spread or been an issue for me. They aren't in the driver's line of sight. The engine runs smooth, the transmission shifts like butter, and it rides like a Buick should. These cars were known for having bad cowl-shake problems going down the road between 49 and 52 MPH. This one you can feel a little bit, but it's barely noticeable. In my experience buying Reatta convertibles, it's always the higher-milage cars that have less cowl shake. My only explanation is that they rode better, and thus got driven much more. So while you may be considering some other 40,000 mile beauties in your Reatta search, consider how much less you'll be driving the car if you're uncomfortable with the ride. Why am I selling? I have 5 other Reattas, and my garage is full. I've had this car for a couple summers and have gotten my use out of it, and need the money to put into other projects. I have over $11,000 invested, but I deduct a certain amount per year of the car's value in the amount of enjoyment I receive from it. Whether it's for long road trips, beach trips or ice cream runs with the kids or grand kids, or just for the night out with your significant other, this Reatta is sure to serve you well and bring thumbs-up and bewildered looks wherever you drive her. Have any questions? Feel free to call me any time (919) 233 1973. I have more pictures available upon request. I'm glad to meet locals to see the car in person if you're interested. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Deposit of $500 due at the end of the auction. The remaining money must be paid in cash upon pick-up. The reserve is below the Buy it Now price. Car is located in Raleigh NC. Fly into RDU and drive home. We can discuss delivery options if you do not want to pick it up, however, it must be paid in full before I start the trip. My rate for delivery is $2.00/mile. Which includes all of my gas and other vehicle expenses. There's no place I won't go, so don't think I won't deliver it that far. Just ask, I may do it. |

Mixed sales results, but automaker stocks rise on need for cars in Houston
Fri, Sep 1 2017DETROIT — The Big Three Detroit automakers on Friday reported better-than-expected August sales and issued optimistic outlooks for demand as residents of the Houston area replace flood-damaged cars and trucks after Hurricane Harvey, sending their stocks higher. General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler posted mixed August U.S. sales, with GM up 7.5 percent and Ford and Fiat Chrysler down. Japanese automaker Toyota improved sales by nearly 7 percent, while Honda fell 2.4 percent. Still, analysts focused on the potential for Detroit automakers to cut inventories and stabilize used vehicle prices as residents of Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States, are forced to replace tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, of vehicles after the devastation from Hurricane Harvey. Mark LaNeve, Ford's U.S. sales chief, told analysts on Friday that following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 "we saw a very dramatic snapback" in demand. That said, Ford sales fell 2.1 percent in August. It sold 209,897 vehicles in the United States, compared with 214,482 a year earlier. Sales were down 1.9 percent in the Ford division and off 5.8 percent at Lincoln. Demand was down for cars, crossovers and SUVs. It was not clear how many vehicles in the Houston area will be scrapped, LaNeve said, saying he had seen estimates ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 to 1 million. Ford's Houston dealers may have lost fewer than 5,000 vehicles in inventory, he said. Ford is the No. 1 automaker in the Houston market, with 18 percent share, according to IHS Markit. The company plans to ship used vehicles to Houston dealers and has "every indication we would have to add some production" of new vehicles to meet demand, LaNeve said. Investor concerns about inventories of unsold vehicles and falling used car prices have weighed on Detroit automakers' shares most of this year. Now, automakers can anticipate a jolt of demand from a big market that is a stronghold for Detroit brand trucks and SUVs. "It's got to be a positive for the industry," LaNeve said. Investors appeared to agree. GM shares rose as much as 3.3 percent to their highest since early March. Ford increased 2.8 percent at $11.34, and Fiat Chrysler's U.S.-traded shares were up 5.2 percent $15.91, hitting their highest in more than five years. GM reported a 7.5 percent increase in U.S. auto sales in August, helped by robust sales of crossovers across its four brands.
Buick Cascada convertible likely dead after 2019
Tue, Oct 9 2018Opel announced it was discontinuing a few cars today, but the one that got our attention was the Cascada. The plan is to let the Opel Cascada live out its life until the end of 2019, with no replacement in the works. This brings into question the future of the Buick Cascada sold in the United States, since it's basically the same car and produced by Opel in the same factory in Poland. The Cascada has been on sale in other markets since 2012 badged as either an Opel or Vauxhall, but the Buick-badged car was only introduced in North America for the 2016 model year. Of course, Buick could decide to build the model beyond 2019, but it would need to find a new manufacturing location, convertibles aren't exactly popular, and the car would be egregiously old at that point. In other words, it looks like the Cascada is dead after 2019. We asked Buick what the game plan might be, and were told that there is nothing official to say at the moment. That's par for the course for something a manufacturer doesn't want to talk about yet, but it's also possible the announcement came as a surprise. Opel is no longer owned by GM, so the announcement actually came from the brand's new PSA ownership (the same French company that owns Peugeot and Citroen). As for the rationale behind the decision, that was a head scratcher, too. Opel/PSA said it was discontinuing the Cascada, as well as the subcompact Adam and Karl, in order to meet increasingly stringent emissions requirements and produce crossovers instead. This seems contradictory. Replacing a low-selling convertible and a pair of low-profit subcompacts with high-selling, high-profit crossovers sure seems like a solid business decision more than an emissions requirement one. Indeed, the Buick Cascada has never been a raging success in the United States either, with only 5,595 leaving the lots in 2017. It helped bring in some different kinds of customers to the Buick brand, but the impact is minute compared to a vehicle like the hot-selling Buick Encore. 2017 Buick Encore freshens up for the New York Auto Show
Thu, Feb 25 2016Buick is dressing up the 2017 Encore for spring – specifically the New York Auto Show – where the compact crossover is expected to strut its stuff. The freshening follows the playbook of the Chevy Trax, which was also updated with a light hand. Though it keeps its familiar shape, sort of like an oversized Pontiac Vibe, the Encore gets Buick's new grille. It's a simple look with the wings bisecting the brand's tri-shield, and it calls to mind Buick's iconic front ends from yesteryear. You might remember it from the Avenir and Avista concepts. There are also new headlights. They look stolen from Audi, and it's an attention-getting gaze for the new face of the Encore. There will likely be new wheel packages, too. We can't see inside the Encore. Spy photographers couldn't get close enough to this Buick shoot in Southern California. But, we expect the interior to also mirror the Trax enhancements, which included a new instrument panel, gauges, materials, and infotainment. The Encore shares underpinnings with the Trax and Opel Mokka. We expect the Encore to arrive in late summer.
