I have been asked by my Aunt to settle her estate belongings and sell her beloved husband's 1995 Buick Park Avenue.  If you are looking for an affordable luxury sedan from the 1995 era, this is pretty nice indeed.  I cleaned it and drove last night and it's smooth, drives like a dream, has all the luxury appointments you'd want including digital climate, radio, etc.  Does have the tan cloth seats.  Automatic * Exterior is very nice for the year with very minor flaws, much better than you'd expect for a car of this year.  Here's the best part of this deal:  owners spent way too much money on the car than they would ever expect to recover on a sale.  Primarily because it was his daily driver going to the convenience store for lottery tickets, then back home.  A newly rebuilt engine was installed at 149k miles...yes, that means only 29k miles on the engine at present time!  Receipt in hand.  Also new struts in 2012 (receipt in hand).  You would never find that on a 1995 model car, but this one has that benefit.  I would drive this car anywhere with confidence.  Comes with two keys.  Sold "as is/where is" from my Aunt's home town of Overland Park, KS...a suburb of Kansas City, MO.  Local pickup only, no shipping.  Cash paid in person or cashier's check received and settled only on this specific transaction.  If paying by wired or paper check, no transfer of property or title will take place until funds have settled by the bank.  No exceptions. Cash in person gets car, keys, title, and bill of sale.  No warranties, expressed or implied, what you see is what you get.  Remember...car is in Overland Park, KS and that is where you pick it up.  Call Aaron at 816-590-8010 to drive or make serious offer outright and avoid the crowd. Aunt wants the car sold and her garage space back.  At any time the car can be sold so make your intentions known early in the auction.  Waiting til the end of the auction run date on this car will lose it to somebody else who's serious and taking charge.  I'd recommend you call me and make your best offer right up front.  If you like the big cruisers, this is one that should be on your list of bids.

Junkyard Gem: 2000 Buick Regal GSE

Sun, Jul 19 2020

Except for a break from 2005 through 2010, and an indefinite break after this year, The General has been selling the Buick Regal since the 1973 model year. From 1988 to 2005, the Regal rode on the same GM W-Body front-wheel-drive platform as the Chevy Impala and Pontiac Grand Prix, and some of the more interesting W Regals came with ever-hairier versions of GM's supercharged Buick V6 engine. These Eaton-blown Regals were big, comfortable and quick, but they've nearly disappeared from roads by now. I found this 2000 GSE, the kingliest Regal of that year, in a Colorado self-service yard last month. Some junkyard shopper had already grabbed the Eaton M90 blower from this car by the time I got here, because everyone wants a blower or nine stashed in the garage (I have five at the moment). If you're looking to junkyard-supercharge your AMC Pacer wagon race car and use a Soviet truck carburetor for fuel delivery, the Eaton M90 is about the easiest to remove from the junkyard and the easiest to rig up on the car. This engine made 240 horsepower when new, giving the Regal GSE quarter-mile times below the 15-second mark. The price of the 2000 Regal GSE started at $25,300, or about $38,640 in 2020 dollars. You could get the same engine engine and chassis with the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP sedan for $24,610, giving you near-identical performance and a sportier (but less dignified) look. Buick didn't bother making a manual transmission available in any North American W-Body Regal after the 1993 model year. This reduced the fun level in these cars, but probably spared owners a lot of broken axles, CV joints, and hubs. This car has the optional Monsoon speaker system, also found in some Volkswagens of the same era. Apparently Monsoon systems for home computers were all the rage during the early 2000s. Did the Oshawa plant lift that "One grade only and that the best" slogan from the Canadian Corps in Passchendaele in '17? It sounds like a Commonwealth slogan of an earlier era. This car looks pretty good inside and out, but most Colorado buyers seeking a powerful used four-door these days seek out trucks. It doesn't take much of a mechanical problem (or accumulation of parking tickets) to doom a car like today's Junkyard Gem. So many features!

Experience the New York Auto Show by drone

Fri, Apr 10 2015

The Autoblog team recently returned from wildly running around the Javits Center to cover all the news and debuts at the New York Auto Show. Sometimes, it's nice to take a more serene look at the exhibition floor, though, and the event's organizers are providing that exact opportunity by flying a drone through the hall. Combined with the down-tempo music, this clip feels like a form of automotive meditation. If you're going to miss the show in the Big Apple, the drone also provides a good overview at the exhibition floor, especially at the stands from Lexus, Buick, Dodge, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and BMW. Plus, it's a fun way to see some vehicles from a completely different angle than they ever appear on the road. 2016 Buick Cascada convertible isn't afraid of Detroit's snow

Mon, Jan 12 2015

It's the great irony of introducing a convertible in Detroit – while the assembled media might look at the car and imagine warm weather and clear skies, the atmosphere outside is anything but. Such was the case Sunday as Buick rolled out the 2016 Cascada in Detroit's Eastern Market. Snow didn't dampen the atmosphere, though, as we clapped eyes on the sleek, Astra-based convertible for the first time. While this is far from the first product Buick has borrowed from General Motors' European operations, unlike previous vehicles, changes for the Cascada were kept to a minimum. There is no waterfall grille or four-way portholes, which Buick was sure to install when converting the Insignia and Mokka to the Regal and Encore. Then again, neither of these styling treatments were really necessary, as the Cascada remains a handsome and stylish offering. Its cabin is typical of other Buicks, and features a few too many buttons on the center stack. Still, a thick-rimmed, flat-bottomed steering wheel, similar to what's found in the Verano, is both attractive and functional, while the perforated leather seats looks quite comfortable, as well. Take a look at our gallery of live images, which includes shots of the Cascada with the top up and down, and then head back to our original post on the new convertible for all the mechanical details.
