2000 Buick Lesabre Limited Sedan Car 4-door 3.8l Leather New Tires Loaded As-is on 2040-cars
Hemet, California, United States
Hello & Welcome! Up for auction is my AS-IS Bronze 2000 Buick LeSabre Limited that is nearly fully loaded and looks great. First off, we'll start with the back story! We've owned it since March 2011, it ran perfectly for the first 2 years, but more recently we've had quite a few repairs totaling over $3,000 to hopefully get it going for another 100,000 miles. Had a new Radiator installed, New Water Pump, New Starter, New Plenum, New Control Arms w/bushings, A few New Belts & Hoses, New Floor Matts, New Goodyear "Eagle RX" Tires that currently have only about 1,000 miles on them, and probably a few other things. All parts were NEW, not refurbished or salvaged and we wouldn't have spent this much money if we didn't expect to keep it..... BUT, a few days after a trip to Long Beach at the beginning of February we noticed a sputter and the engine had lost a lot of power. Had it towed to the dealership and they said: QUOTE FROM SERVICE PAPER - "CHECK/ADVISE ENGINE RUNNING VERY POORLY? FOUND 80% LEAK DOWN PASSED RINGS & EXHAUST VALVE. LOTS OF MILES CYL HEAD NOT A LSTING FIX, CUSTOMER DECLINED REPAIRS. RECOMMENDED TRADE IN". Why we declined repairs?? Because their "repair" was to replace the engine at a cost of approx. $5,000! This is a great car and I firmly believe that if you are mechanically minded, you can have it running again with little more than time committed. For us to pay someone for their time at $100+ an hour just isn't feasible though. The car has a beautiful bronze metallic paint with chrome rims that were part of Buick's "performance package" though two "cover caps" are missing. It's fully loaded with almost every option this model year offered, including: Twilight Sentinel (light sensor auto dimming for instrument panel lights & headlights), Power Seats & Power Lumbar, 2-Driver Memory Seats & Mirrors, Remote Trunk Release and Trunk Lockout, Anti-Theft Alarm, Power Windows, Tilt Wheel, Electronic Day/Night Rearview Mirror w/Compass, Illuminated Visor Vanity Mirrors w/ Dual Sun Visors, 3 Auxiliary Power Outlets, Front Center Console with rear seat Air Vents, HomeLink Garage Door Opener, Computerized Driver Information Center, Dual Climate Controls, Steering Wheel Controls, AM-FM Stereo w/cassette & CD Player with automatic tone control, Cabin air filtration, Theater Dimming Lights, and probably a few other things. I'm even including for the winning bidder a few extras that belong to the car, like a dashboard cover, a spare set of floor mats, an extra bottle of brake fluid, bottle of antifreeze, spare light bulbs, etc. And of course all of the service papers & receipts. Think this has always been a So-Cal car and don't believe it was ever in an accident or flood. Now for the bad stuff, obviously the engine is in need of repair, having been left alone for a couple weeks the battery is dead, there is a chip in one tail light, the steering wheel shows wear (like someone was scratching at the top), there is a crack to the leather in the drivers seat (though I have tried my best to make them supple again), a couple light "shopping cart" dents & a scratched bit of paint to the bumper in front of the front tire on the drivers side (see photos), and the drivers side vanity mirror broke off somehow, but is included. You can just use the additional dual visor though! Anyway, the car is being sold "AS-IS" with no warranties expressed or implied. We welcome anyone who wants to see this LaSabre and since we work from home the time would be at your convenience. Please contact us with any questions through the eBay "Ask Seller a Question" button & we'll get back to you as soon as possible (usually less than a few hours). We live in Hemet, CA, not far from Palm Springs & Temecula. Thank you for Looking! |

Next-gen LaCrosse, Cascada convertible coming to Buick showrooms in 2016
Wed, 23 Jul 2014It's difficult to overstate how significant the post-bankruptcy years have been for General Motors' Buick brand. Arguably the most improved American automaker, Buick has rounded out its range with an excellent compact in the Verano, a well-balanced midsizer in the Regal and a segment-busting mini-CUV, with the Encore.
Seeking to keep that momentum going, the next several years will see the brand address a trio of its most obvious issues. First and foremost will be a replacement for the aging LaCrosse, a vehicle whose only bit of attention since its 2009 debut was a very light refresh in 2013.
According to Automotive News, we should expect the next-generation LaCrosse to arrive late next year or early in 2016, as a 2016 model. AN expects big design changes, as Buick attempts to further the LaCrosse from its popular platform-mate, the Chevrolet Impala. The changes won't be so radical, though, as to do away with its front-drive architecture, as the latest version of the Epsilon platform will underpin the next LaCrosse. The 3.6-liter V6 is likely to carry on, although a smaller, budget-minded offering is also extremely likely (we'll eat our hat if it's not the 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder from the Regal, Verano and Cadillac CTS et al.).
GM finds steering flaw, decides it doesn't warrant a recall
Tue, Apr 14 2015Guess what? General Motors is back in the spotlight for not recalling something. This time, though, not only does the company have an argument against a recall campaign, but its position is supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to The New York Times, over 50 owners of GM vehicles have reported instances of stuck or seized steering after driving long distances without moving the wheel. One owner complained to NHTSA that the "locked" steering of their 2013 Buick Verano caused a collision with a concrete barrier in a construction zone. Along with the 2013 to 2014 model year Verano sedans, Chevrolet Cruze and Malibu sedans are also affected. Considering the popularity of those models, GM needs to have a reason for not issuing a recall, right? "Based on a very low rate of occurrence – ranging from less than one half to less than two incidents per thousand vehicles – and the fact that the condition is remedied when the wheel is turned, GM determined this was not a safety issue," spokesman Alan Adler told The Times. The company has, however, issued a technical service bulletin for owners that complain of the problem. The fix is nothing more than a software update that is covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles from new. NHTSA cited GM's actions, along with descriptions of the problems from customers, in its decision not to issue a recall, with spokeswoman Catherine Howden saying, "the symptoms described would be a brief, perceptible change in steering feel that has little to no effect on the driver's ability to safely steer the vehicle." "When terms like 'notchy,' 'stick,' 'slip' or 'feel' are used, it does not indicate a meaningful increase in steering effort," Howden told The Times via email. What do you think? Is GM in the wrong here? Should there be a recall, or is the issue so limited as to not warrant one? Have your say in Comments. 2013 Buick Encore nets strong IIHS, NHTSA safety scores
Wed, 05 Jun 2013After being crushed from every which way and rolled over like a labrador, the 2013 Buick Encore has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. To earn the accolade, a vehicle must achieve the highest rating of "Good" in each of the institute's four main crash tests: Front Moderate Overlap, Side, Rollover and Rear. The Encore aced those four tests with "Good" ratings, but missed out on the coveted Top Safety Pick+ designation by receiving a Poor rating in the institute's new Front Small Overlap test. To be named a Top Safety Pick+, the Encore would need to score at least an "Acceptable" rating in the new test, as well as "Good" in all four original crash tests.
Despite the miss, the Encore joins the Enclave, LaCrosse, Verano and Regal as Top Safety Picks all. If you count only the Encore with all-wheel drive, then all five Buicks have also earned five-star overall ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration, making Buick one of the few manufacturers to offer a full lineup with high scores from both safety rating organizations.
The front-wheel-drive Encore, despite performing equally as well as the all-wheel-drive version in NHTSA's crash tests, only earned four stars overall. As far as we can tell, the discrepancy between the two is because some safety equipment, like Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Assist, are optional features on the FWD Encore and standard on the AWD model.
