1961 Buick Lesabre - 2 door Hardtop (Bubbletop) The 1961 Buick Lesabre
Bubbletops are becoming very popular and desirable due to their classic
and definitive lines. This Lesabre is equipped with the original
Factory 364 Buick V8 and 3 speed Automatic transmission. The Leasbre
also is equipped with factory Power Steering and Power Brakes. This
Lesabre is a southern car and is a true barn find that had
been stored inside for approximately 20 years until I purchased it
about 2 years ago. (see picture). The gas tank was flushed and all
fluids changed and the Buick started right up. Brakes were renewed. The
body is very solid and straight. The floor pans, trunk pan and frame
are solid. (Drivers floor pan has had a patch panel welded in years ago
and is hard to tell from original. The Lesabre was stripped to bare
metal and repainted in high quality base coat clear coat paint, back to a
color close to original. Both front and rear bumpers and guards were
re-chromed. All stainless is good. All glass is with no cracks. The seats are
finished in a fabric and vinyl combination. Door panels are original to the car and show some minor wear. Padded dash has been also
recovered, and the rear package tray is new. We just installed a new
3 row Aluminum radiator with electric fan. Also just added are the 18 inch and 20 inch Billet
Polished wheels that gives this classic a more current pro touring
appearance. The Buick has also been lowered 2 inches front and rear for a
great stance. The Buick runs, drives and stops nice. This Buick is
truly a rare find. It is a true survivor with all original running
gear. You will be proud to own, drive and show this classic. I have
driven the Buick hundreds of miles and its never left me stranded. As
usual the Buick will be sold as is where is without any warranty, either
expressed, written or implied. If you are in the area please come by
and inspect this beautiful and rare classic in person. If this is not
possible please review my Ebay rating on a few other classics I have
sold. I know every ones opinion and expectations are different on a 50
year old classic so please do not hesitate to call or email with any questions or
concerns. You can contact me at Jmoore@southern.edu. I will not respond to emails that ask what the reserve is but if you are sincerely interested in a "buy it now",
send me an offer and I will respond quickly. I can also be reached at 404-542-9963. Full payment via wire transfer or cash in person must be
made in three days of auctions end. I reserve the right to end the auction early. Thanks for looking! Justin

5 reasons why GM is cutting jobs, closing plants in a healthy economy
Tue, Nov 27 2018DETROIT — Even though unemployment is low, the economy is growing and U.S. auto sales are near historic highs, General Motors is cutting thousands of jobs in a major restructuring aimed at generating cash to spend on innovation. It's the new reality for automakers that are faced with the present cost of designing gas-powered cars and trucks that appeal to buyers now while at the same time preparing for a future world of electric and autonomous vehicles. GM announced Monday that it will cut as many as 14,000 workers in North America and put five plants up for possible closure as it abandons many of its car models and restructures to focus more on autonomous and electric vehicles. The reductions could amount to as much as 8 percent of GM's global workforce of 180,000 employees. The cuts mark GM's first major downsizing since shedding thousands of jobs in the Great Recession. The company also said it will stop operating two additional factories outside North America by the end of next year. The move to make GM get leaner before the next downturn likely will be followed by Ford Motor Co., which also has struggled to keep one foot in the present and another in an ambiguous future of new mobility. Ford has been slower to react, but says it will lay off an unspecified number of white-collar workers as it exits much of the car market in favor of trucks and SUVs, some of them powered by batteries. Here's a rundown of the reasons behind the cuts: Coding, not combustion CEO Mary Barra said as cars and trucks become more complex, GM will need more computer coders but fewer engineers who work on internal combustion engines. "The vehicle has become much more software-oriented" with millions of lines of code, she said. "We still need many technical resources in the company." Shedding sedans The restructuring also reflects changing North American auto markets as manufacturers continue to shift away from cars toward SUVs and trucks. In October, almost 65 percent of new vehicles sold in the U.S. were trucks or SUVs. That figure was about 50 percent cars just five years ago. GM is shedding cars largely because it doesn't make money on them, Citi analyst Itay Michaeli wrote in a note to investors. "We estimate sedans operate at a significant loss, hence the need for classic restructuring," he wrote. The reduction includes about 8,000 white-collar employees, or 15 percent of GM's North American white-collar workforce. Some will take buyouts while others will be laid off.
Buick Envision cabin detailed ahead of reveal later this month
Sun, 17 Aug 2014Buick teased the arrival of the China-market Envision last month and gave us a few specs, now it's teasing the midsize crossover's interior and features. Having said it will "set a new benchmark in terms of space, safety, performance and specifications," we're told that equipment like the heated leather steering wheel and Bose-sourced active noise cancellation are market firsts in the segment.
Elsewhere, light will shine on occupants through the panoramic roof during the day and via ice blue ambient lighting at night, and seating surfaces are being shown off with dual-stitched leather. Lane departure warning and parking assist help keep the bodywork in order, stop/start ignition fitted to the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder with 256 horsepower and 260 pound-feet will help keep fuel economy up. One more convenience for the model's core buyers: a tailgate that can be partially opened.
The Normal, Tour, Sport and Off-Road driving modes come courtesy of FlexRide, that last one - meant for extra-light-duty dirt work, naturally - appearing on a Buick for the first time.
GM announces net 220 job increase as Trump visits Michigan
Wed, Mar 15 2017GM announced today that about 900 jobs would be added (or, importantly, retained) ahead of President Trump's arrival in Michigan, where he is expected to discuss his plan to roll back fuel economy standards. The timing of the announcement is almost certainly not coincidental, as appending it to a Trump visit gives it a higher profile and dovetails with the President's jobs agenda. It's less likely the decision itself was made for those reasons, but the free PR boost is a nice bonus. As for those 900 jobs themselves, they aren't all new jobs. The only net gain is approximately 220 jobs at the Romulus Powertrain Plant, which produces the 10-speed automatic transmission that's proliferating through the company's lineup. The 180 jobs at Flint Assembly and 500 jobs at Lansing Delta Township are retained jobs – that is to say, spots the company found for workers who would otherwise have been laid off. By the way, the Flint jobs will help with production of heavy-duty pickups, and the Lansing jobs are to produce the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Finding jobs for manufacturing workers in the auto sector, whether new or retained, is admirable. No matter how GM couches it, the company has created or retained a total of 7,000 jobs this year, and its total reinvestment in US production is around $1 billion. But these decisions are business ones, not political ones – timing the announcements to make them seem inspired by economic policy, or the political situation, is simply smart PR.
