This is a 1987 Buick Regal "Grand National" 3.8L Turbocharged Intercooled tribute/clone. The car started its life as a clean, rust free loaded 87 Regal and has since been cloned into a Grand National. The car is driven daily, runs and drives perfect with only 120k miles. The car has an older paint with chips and flaws but still looks pretty good as you can see in the pictures but not a show car by any means. A/C blows ice cold, Sony CD player with iPod jack and remote. This is as close to a GN that you will get minus the turbocharger. The naturally aspirated 3.8L V6 gets great gas mileage and the car gets a thumbs up gesture multiple time a day! You can not pull into a gas station without several people coming over to check her out. Really nice interior showing only minor wear (thumbnail size tears in drivers seat). This car needs nothing but a new home. Drive the car as it is, install a turbocharger, or maybe even do a V8 swap. No trades offers please. The car has OEM Grand National hood, GN spoiler, GN air dams, GN wheels, GN emblems, GN coil springs, GN front and rear sway bars, etc. New tint, new floor mats, four new fiberglass bumper fillers installed. I have more into the parts on the car than I'm selling the entire car for. Also, I will include with the sale a matching center console with floor shifter. The car starts right up, runs like a champ and all the lights, wipers, turn signals, hi/low beams, parking lights, etc. work as they should although horn is not. Drive her anywhere. I just did a 12 hour trip this past week (630 miles) in the car and she ran absolutely perfect! This is a great car for a fraction of the cost of a real Grand National. Nobody will ever know the difference unless you pop the hood. Please note, the GN is being sold "as is" and "where is" to the highest bidder so if you are not sure about something then please ask. It is the bidders responsibility to inspect the vehicle personally before the auction ends, just send me a message and we can set up a time for you to view the car in person. Also, I do have the car for sale locally so in the event it is sold, I will end the auction. Thanks for your interest. Bid to win, clean and clear title in hand.

Terms: A $500. deposit through PayPal due within 24hrs of auctions end, balance to be paid with-in seven days cash or cashiers check only. If you have less than five (5) as your feedback, please contact me BEFORE you bid or your bid can/will be canceled. If you bid and win the auction and choose not to pay, I will file a non payment claim, report you to ebay, block you from bidding in the future, and leave appropriate feedback. I am not wanting to waste my time or yours, so if you don't have the funds, please do not bid. Thanks and good luck if you choose to bid.

PSA's purchase of Opel from GM is expected to be finalized soon

Sat, Mar 4 2017

PSA's purchase of the Opel/Vauxhall division from General Motors is expected to be officially announced on Monday, according to The New York Times. PSA, the parent company of European automakers Peugeot and Citroen, will reportedly hold a joint press conference with GM in Paris to announce the deal. GM has worked as part of an alliance with PSA in Europe since 2012. The deal could be a big boon for both companies. For PSA, the addition of Opel and Vauxhall into its fold would catapult the automaker into second place behind Volkswagen for European marketshare, and would allow the company to spend research and development costs across a greater number of vehicles. And GM, which has struggled in recent years to turn a profit with its European division, would be able to focus more squarely on the areas where it's most profitable and to invest in future technologies like automation. But the deal isn't without its potential pitfalls, primarily for PSA. GM hasn't been able to make a success of Opel and Vauxhall, and it's not a sure bet that PSA will, either. What's more, the addition of Opel and Vauxhall doesn't expand PSA's reach any further into new markets, like China or India. The NYT cites data from Ferdinand Dudenhoffer, a professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, showing that 70 percent of PSA and Opel business is done in Europe, a market that has been shrinking since 1999. We'll have to wait a few days to see exactly how the deal between PSA and GM will be structured. We're also curious to see how the loss of Opel may affect GM's lineup in the States, especially for Buick, since the company's Regal sedan is based on the European Opel Insignia. In other words, stay tuned. Related Video:

One of the world's largest muscle car museums is auctioning off its cars

Mon, Jan 11 2021

Rick Treworgy's Muscle Car City is one of the biggest collections of high-performance American cars in the world. With over 200 cars of mostly GM makes, it's a mecca for fans of the golden age of Detroit iron. Unfortunately, the museum will be shutting its doors for good on Jan. 17 and auctioning off most of its assets with no reserve. The collection is, to put it bluntly, astounding. Advertised as a combined 65,000-plus horsepower, it occupies a 60,000-square-foot retail space in Punta Gorda, Fla., in a former Walmart store. It make sense when you learn that founder Rick Treworgy made his fortune in the commercial real estate business. As a hobby, he began to amass a truly jaw-dropping collection of muscle cars, filling out a collection that often has every year of a particular model represented, or a grouping of the rarest and highest-performance option packages of that year or model. Often, Treworgy bought placeholders while scouring the country for even rarer versions. It helps that Muscle Car City also houses a showroom where unwanted cars are sold, as well as its own speed shop that stocks plenty of parts. There's even a '50s-style diner called Stingray's Bar and Grill. According to a 2014 episode of Car Crazy, Treworgy has 80 Corvettes alone, more than the actual Corvette Museum. Among them are 20 models from 1967, one of Treworgy's favorites. The rest span the decades from 1954 (he once had a '53 but sold it) to a recently acquired 2020 C8, which, according to The Drive, has only 300 miles on the odometer. You like Impalas? There are models of every year from 1958 to 1969. El Caminos? He's got 'em from 1964 to 1972. Novas? Every year from 1963 to 1970 is represented. Most are the more desirable examples of each breed, with four-speed transmissions, the biggest blocks, and unicorn option packages like a factory 1965 Z16 SS396 Chevelle, one of 200 that were ordered off-menu at Chevy dealerships. And don't even get us started on the Camaros, which include not one, but two COPO 1969s. Treworgy even owns the only known surviving example of a 1936 Chevrolet Phaeton, of which only seven were built. On top of it all, many of these cars are concours quality and have won awards at prestigious car shows. While it's sad to see a collection like this broken up, Treworgy told The Drive that he'd been planning to retire next year anyway. However, the COVID-19 pandemic sped up those plans, greatly reducing the number of visitors to his museum.

Movie Review: Black Air: The Buick Grand National Documentary

Thu, 06 Dec 2012

As Buick currently claws and scratches its way back into relevance to compete against luxury brands like Lexus and Acura, it's hard to believe that not too long ago, the brand had a car that was mentioned in the same breath as Corvette, Lamborghini and Ferrari. That car? None other than the Buick Grand National. All black with a turbocharged V6 and some of the quickest acceleration of its time, the Grand National, in today's standards, is along the lines of a 2013 Shelby GT500 with both cars essentially being a working man's supercar.
The last Grand National rolled off the assembly line in Flint, MI on December 11, 1987, and to mark the silver anniversary of that somber occasion, Black Air is a documentary of the Grand National from the perspective of the enthusiast, the collector, the media and even from those at General Motors responsible for creating such a sinister legend. Like the car itself, Andrew Filippone Jr. shoots the documentary in a raw fashion, and it definitely helps to show why a low-volume muscle car from the 1980s is still the object of obsession for many automotive enthusiasts to this day.
