1986 Buick Grand National All Original Never Modded on 2040-cars
Willowbrook, Illinois, United States
You are looking at a 1986 Buick Grand National with 88K original miles... car has original paint and is 100% all original and unmodified and always has been stock. This was a lady driven car for most of its life. Car will need a tune-up and will need to be gone through prior to being daily driven as it has sat for years. Car runs and idles smooth, goes through the gears fine, convertor locks as it should , makes no noises or does anything strange... no dash lights are on and everything seems to function as it is supposed to. I put 20 miles on it and other than the flat spots on the tires didn't feel, hear , or see anything unusual. There is a small pin hole leak in the fuel tank, but a additional good tank will come with the car. The interior is DIRTY and will need a steam cleaning and a thorough scrub... but will clean up nice.. This is a G80 POSI car with digital Climate control, twilight sentinel and CC1 T-tops. Car had aftermarket radio which has been removed prior to sale. This is a rarely optioned car and only 5500 GN's were made in 86 ! The driver rocker panel will need to repaired as it and the drivers lower door has rust. the passenger side is relatively clean... The pass side quarter will need a 4x6 patch panel put in place .. driver side quarter is relatively clean. Upper right hand corner of the windshield does have a small crack on it.. way up at the top corner. have to look for it.. also there is a paint crack in the header panel.. knit picky but if you really look you will see it.. If you are looking for a decent driver .. it is not a show car. You could easily change all the fluids / filters and just drive it the way it is without doing anything to it.. or drive and restore as you go.. I do have access to whatever parts you would need. IF BUY IT NOW IS USED I can include some HI-PO parts that would get the car in the 12's It will have to be paid for within 3 days of listing end... I can store the car until you need for pickup.. will work with you any way I can to help with shipping.
This is the CHEAPEST running , driving, stock GN on the NET right now. |

GM may kill 6 car models as it works with UAW to tackle sales slump
Fri, Jul 21 2017The president of the United Auto Workers union said on Thursday the union is talking with General Motors about the potential threat to plants and jobs from slumping U.S. car sales. GM's response will be more trucks and SUVs, and sources say at least six slow-selling car models may be killed off. "We are talking to (GM) right now about the products that they currently have" at underused car plants such as Hamtramck in Michigan and Lordstown in Ohio, and whether they might be replaced with newer, more popular vehicles such as crossovers, Dennis Williams told reporters. "We are tracking it (and) we are addressing it," Williams added. GM has cut shifts at several U.S. plants this year as inventories of unsold cars have ballooned. Industry analysts said more jobs could be at risk as the automaker wrestles with permanently shrinking production of small and midsized sedans. GM is reviewing whether to cancel at least six passenger cars in the U.S. market after 2020, including the Chevrolet Volt hybrid, which could be replaced in 2022 with a new gasoline-electric crossover model, Reuters has learned from people familiar with the plans. Other GM cars at risk include the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala and Chevrolet Sonic, sources said. Some analysts have singled out GM's Hamtramck plant in Detroit as one of the most vulnerable because of plummeting car sales. The plant, which opened in 1985, builds four slow-selling models: Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala, Cadillac CT6 and Chevrolet Volt. In the first half, it built fewer than 35,000 cars, down 32 percent from the same period in 2016, according to suppliers familiar with GM's U.S. production schedule. The typical GM assembly plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year.COMING ATTRACTIONS: TRUCKS AND SUVS GM must "create some innovative new products" to replace slow-selling sedans "or start closing plants," said Sam Fiorani, vice president of AutoForecast Solutions. The auto maker already has begun to shift future production plans from cars to trucks, according to Morgan Stanley auto analyst John Murphy. He estimates that fewer than 10 percent of the new vehicle models that GM will introduce over the next four years will be passenger cars, with the rest divided among trucks, SUVs and crossovers. GM plans to add production of the new Cadillac XT4 crossover next year to its Malibu sedan plant in Fairfax, Kansas.
Jay Leno finds no detail neglected on Icon's Derelict 1948 Buick Super
Wed, Apr 1 2015Jonathan Ward seems to have one of the greatest jobs in the world. As the CEO at Icon, he's in charge of not only the company's fantastic trucks but its Derelict series of semi-restored classics, as well. Ward's vehicles are no strangers to Jay Leno's Garage, but the latest guest on the show might be one of Icon's coolest yet. What looks like a 1948 Buick Super Convertible on the outside hides the supercharged heart of a Corvette ZR1 underneath. Like the rest of the Derelict series, this old Buick's toasted paint and pitted chrome are all part of the charm of the car, and it's really a case of beauty being more than skin deep. The Super rides on a custom chassis and suspension to make the convertible a far better driver than even a pristine original example. Plus, Ward hides all sorts of modern upgrades inside that are practically invisible until he points them out. Leno absolutely falls in love with driving the Derelict Buick. If his enthusiasm grabs you, the video below from Ward goes much deeper into the build process of this awesome project.
Watch this phantom Buick drive itself down the highway in a snow storm
Mon, 16 Dec 2013Years ago, General Motors used Buick cars to test out the idea of a "smart highway" concept. More recently, GM has been talking up its award-winning Super Cruise semi-autonomous technology that will roll out with Cadillac and make its way to Buick. The LeSabre in the video above has nothing to do with any of that.
On Interstate 15 in Utah, a man driving this LeSabre got into an accident that rearranged the front end and set the horn on permanent blare. At the time of writing this, no one is sure what happened next, but the man ended up sitting in the snow in the highway median while his car carried on down the highway without him. Passing traffic stayed well to the right.
The 51-second video below provides a different take on our autonomous future. A local newscast on KUTV covered the story the evening of the incident, but the Utah Highway Patrol didn't have any update on the fate of the LeSabre. We'll take that to mean that Buick's take on Christine could still be out on the prowl... so watch out!
