Electra Wagon Rear Seat Woody Awesome Condition 74k Miles! on 2040-cars
Clinton, South Carolina, United States
******EDIT******I WILL DELIVER THIS WAGON TO AN AIRPORT NEAR YOU FOR A FULL PRICE OFFER. I know buying on ebay is tough because of shipping cars so want to make this as convenient as possible for a potential buyer. I'm not driving to CA (although I wish I had the time to do so) but am willing to make a day trip and fly home. Also shows I trust this car to get me there :) Hopefully you live somewhere cool like NYC and I can make a weekend out of it. Email me with any questions or if you want to work something out. This is one of the nicest examples of a late-80's all original wagon you will ever find. Extremely low mileage for the year: 74,500. The original white paint shines on this Buick and the woodgrain sides are in great condition. Easily cruises down the highway at 75 mph with no rattles, shakes, or loud road noise. The cabin is quiet, the radio sounds fine, and all the speakers work. My kids absolutely love riding in the rear-facing backseat of this car with the window down. When your kids sit in the "very back" and you realize how quiet it is in the front, you'll wonder why they ever stopped making them like this. And yes, we've been compared to the Griswold's :) The only reason I'm selling this classic is because I have one too many cars and can't bear to sell my Bronco (I justified purchasing the wagon thinking I could). You'll attract plenty of attention from people at gas stations and friends who say they had one "just like this growing up!" You'll also get a lot of smiles and "thumbs ups" on the road. Please see my condition description above. Nearly everything works on this Estate Wagon just as it did in 1987. To my knowledge, it has every available option from that model year, including the two-way tailgate (swings open or lays flat like a pick-up), climate control, and power locks and driver seat. The air conditioner will absolutely freeze you out. The heat works as well. In case you missed it in the condition description, I want to be clear about the following: the very rear light needs a bulb, I can't get cruise control to engage (although the light comes on), and the rear driver's side door sometimes doesn't lock when you press the power door lock from the driver's seat. Everything else works as it should. The switch on the dash raises or lowers the rear window. You can also lower the back glass by turning the key in the tailgate. Includes brand new windshield wipers and new hydraulics to hold the huge hood open. This wagon belonged to an older lady who always kept it garaged. When she passed away, a local(ish) car collector bought it from her estate because it was identical to the one his wife's dad drove while he was still alive. She began to avoid it because of the reminder of her father so he put it up for sale and that's who I bought it from. It hasn't disappointed in any way. I wish I could justify keeping it but I can't. Local buyers are welcome to come look it over or take it for a test drive. Email me any questions and I'll get back to you. I've never shipped a car but I'd be glad to assist in any way possible. $500 is due within 24 hours of a winning offer. Please check out the pictures and don't let this one get away! |

Buick Velite is a not-so-Volt-like plug-in hybrid concept for China
Mon, Nov 7 2016Is the Buick Velite a Volt by any other name? That's a question worth asking after General Motors said that the Buick Velite concept vehicle will make its global debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show later this month. GM says the car "will provide a template for upcoming models being launched under the Buick Blue new energy vehicle strategy." Whether that means the Velite is a variant of the second-generation of the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in is open to interpretation. Some automotive publications, including Autoweek, are saying that's the case, but GM China doesn't mention the Volt in its press release, only saying that the car is a "high-performance" plug-in hybrid vehicle. As we know, GM doesn't use the "PHEV" descriptor for the Volt, which makes us thing the Velite's powertrain is more like the Cadillac CT6 PHEV. Either way, the concept was developed by the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC), which is a joint venture between GM and Shanghai-based SAIC. As far as the name, GM has been shopping the Velite moniker around for a while now. The automaker first used Buick Velite for the convertible concept vehicle it showed off at the 2004 New York Auto Show. More recently, GM in 2014 filed to use the name for the US variant of its Opel Cascada four-seat convertible model, which debuted in 2013. As for the second-generation version of the Volt, that model appears to be gaining favor in the US. Domestic sales of the Volt through October have surged 64 percent from a year earlier to more than 18,500 units. The new version boosted its all-electric range by 40 percent to 53 miles while increasing its power output by 20 percent. Third 1987 Buick Regal GNX will be auctioned in January
Mon, Nov 13 2017A member of the 1987 Buick press fleet is hitting the auction block next year and it's a rarified gem: a low-mileage Regal Grand National GNX, serial No. 003 and one of just 547 models built for that year, and the last of the traditional body-on-frame, rear-wheel-drive Grand Nationals. It'll be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in January. The GNX No. 003 was loaned out to publications including Autoweek, Motor Trend and Road & Track, where it racked up around 8,200 miles. "Through it all, a constant sad undertone was the understanding that 1987 was to be the final appearance of the traditional body-on-frame, rear-wheel-drive G-body (which also underpinned the best-selling Chevy Monte Carlo, Pontiac Grand Prix and Olds Cutlass)," reads a the description published on Barrett-Jackson's website. "A totally redesigned W-body Somerset Regal, with front-wheel drive and unitized body construction, was slated to replace the popular midsize Buick in 1988." So Buick opted to make "a Grand National to end all Grand Nationals" with the '87 GNX, partnering with ASC/McLaren to equip them with wheel lip flares, fender vents, 16-by-8-inch BBS rims and more aggressive tires. It left untouched the Grand National's standard Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection 3.8-liter V6 but added a larger Garrett T-3 turbocharger with a ceramic impeller, a larger intercooler, more aggressive fuel, spark and waste gate tables, and a dual exhaust system that boosted output from 235 horsepower and 330 foot-pounds of torque to 276 hp and 360 lb-ft. That was enough, Barrett-Jackson reports, to make the performance coupe quicker and faster in quarter-mile tests than the Ferrari F40 and Porsche 930 Turbo. After making the test-drive rounds in the automotive media, the car sold in 1988 as a brass hat/company official car to Fischer Buick in Troy, Mich. with approximately 8,200 miles on it. From there, it quickly sold to a local resident who drove it very little, and sold it in the spring of 1989. Since 1992, it has reportedly been kept in climate-controlled storage, totally original, unmodified and undamaged, with just 10,790 miles on the odometer today. It recently underwent a complete mechanical service and cosmetic reconditioning. You can check out the listing on Barrett-Jackson here. The first '87 GNX ever produced resides in the General Motors Heritage Collection and No. 002 is at the Sloan Museum in Flint, Mich. Interestingly, another '87 GNX, No.
Buick mulling more powerful Encore; diesel too
Mon, 21 Oct 2013Looking to set itself apart in the mid-luxury segment, Buick is looking to introduce a diesel engine somewhere in its US lineup. And according to Edmunds, the two best chances of a diesel Buick rest with the Encore and Verano.
In both our First Drive and Review of the 2013 Encore, our chief complaint about the compact crossover was the the lack of power from the 138-horsepower turbo engine. Edmunds says that the recently introduced 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine (with both gas and diesel variants) from the Encore's overseas cousin, the Opel Mokka, could make its way into the Encore delivering the much-needed boost in power.
Then there's the Verano. As a close relative to the Chevy Cruze, which just added a diesel engine for 2014, the article speculates that a Verano Diesel might actually be the more "probably candidate" if and when Buick decides to add a diesel model to its portfolio. Either way, offering such an engine in one of its products could be a great way for Buick to differentiate itself from Cadillac and possibly even attract buyers from Volkswagen, Audi and Mercedes-Benz looking for a luxurious, fuel-efficient vehicle.
