This is a nice Buick Electra that is basically a one owner.  I got it from the gentleman's estate that purchased this car new in 1979.  I've driven it some recently basically taking my kids for a ride.  My kids are little and they like riding in a car that actually has some room in the back seat.

The good stuff:  From what I can tell the car has been taken care of over the years.  It runs and drives without any issues.  The interior is  in good shape with no tears/rips or discoloration besides the issue noted below with the dash.

The bad stuff:  The car was wrecked in the front left corner.  The quarter panel, bumper, light and grill are messed up.  On the dash  there is a small hole (can be seen in picture),  the bumper saver(?) is missing on passenger side back bumper.  Also under the top you can tell that there is rust under it, but I don't know the extent.  The A.C. runs with it blowing semi-cold air, but I believe it needs to be recharged.

I'm trying to point out as many issues that I've noticed as possible.  Overall it's a nice looking and driving car without any serious issues.

In the pictures you can tell one of the rims doesn't match, but the matching rim is in the truck as the spare.

Someone did ask me about the clock to verify it was still running.  It does run, but I have not checked it for how accurate it keeps time.  They told me these cars sometimes have electrical problems and when the clock stops running is the first sign something is going bad.  I have no idea, but wanted to mention it.

Just an FYI: I did have this listed on Craiglist for sometime a couple of weeks ago.  I had a number of people that were interested and stated they wanted it, but nobody ever showed up.  Since my experience with Craigslist was not positive I've decided to put it on eBay to sell.  I will not end the auction early and it will sell to the high bidder.

I will be unable a few days next week, but I will try to work with you if you want to come take a look at.  If you have any questions please let me know.

Thank you

OnStar RemoteLink mobile app coming standard on all new GM vehicles

Thu, 06 Jun 2013

As an evolution and improvement of its OnStar technology, General Motors has announced that it will be expanding the RemoteLink Mobile App on most 2014 model year Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles. The new, aptly named RemoteLink Key Fob Services will allow users to remotely operate all of the same systems as the car's key fob, including locking and unlocking the doors and remote starting (on vehicles equipped with a factory remote starter) using a smartphone.
These Key Fob Services will be free for five years - starting from the vehicle's delivery date - but the full suite of RemoteLink features will continue to be offered only with a subscription (trial or paid). These premium features include contacting a live adviser, getting turn-by-turn directions and remotely monitoring the vehicle's diagnostic systems.

Best car infotainment systems: From UConnect to MBUX, these are our favorites

Sun, Jan 7 2024

Declaring one infotainment system the best over any other is an inherently subjective matter. You can look at quantitative testing for things like input response time and various screen load times, but ask a room full of people that have tried all car infotainment systems what their favorite is, and you’re likely to get a lot of different responses. For the most part, the various infotainment systems available all share a similar purpose. They aim to help the driver get where they're going with navigation, play their favorite tunes via all sorts of media playback options and allow folks to stay connected with others via phone connectivity. Of course, most go way beyond the basics these days and offer features like streaming services, in-car performance data and much more. Unique features are aplenty when you start diving through menus, but how they go about their most important tasks vary widely. Some of our editors prefer systems that are exclusively touch-based and chock full of boundary-pushing features. Others may prefer a back-to-basics non-touch system that is navigable via a scroll wheel. You can compare it to the phone operating system wars. Just like some prefer Android phones over iPhones, we all have our own opinions for what makes up the best infotainment interface. All that said, our combined experience tells us that a number of infotainment systems are at least better than the rest. WeÂ’ve narrowed it down to five total systems in their own subcategories that stand out to us. Read on below to see our picks, and feel free to make your own arguments in the comments. Best infotainment overall: UConnect 5, various Stellantis products Ram 1500 Uconnect Infotainment System Review If thereÂ’s one infotainment system that all of us agree is excellent, itÂ’s UConnect. It has numerous qualities that make it great, but above all else, UConnect is simple and straightforward to use. Ease of operation is one of the most (if not the single most) vital parts of any infotainment system interface. If youÂ’re expected to be able to tap away on a touchscreen while driving and still pay attention to the road, a complex infotainment system is going to remove your attention from the number one task at hand: driving. UConnect uses a simple interface that puts all of your key functions in a clearly-represented row on the bottom of the screen. Tap any of them, and it instantly pulls up that menu.

General Motors shaking up its marketing... again

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")
