1961 Buick Electra 225 From The Coen Bros Movie "inside Llewyn Davis." on 2040-cars
New Rochelle, New York, United States
This is the Principle photography vehicle from the last Coen Brothers movie,"Inside Llewyn Davis," starring Oscar Isaac, John Goodman ,Carey Mulligan and Justin Timberlake. I was the Picture car Coordinator on the movie and had to the supply them with this vehicle for the running, driving and exterior shots, and a duplicate car for studio work.
The car has a high quality repaint in basecoat clearcoat with the correct color of Desert Fawn and reupholstered with new correct fabrics from SMS ,in the original pattern. Mechanically, I went through the vehicle to make it safe and reliable for whatever torturous conditions it might encounter during filming. It has new brakes and rear axle seals. New battery, radiator, water pump and hoses. The carburetor and fuel pump were replaced. a set of auxilliary gauges were installed below the dash to monitor oil pressure, coolant temp and charging rate. This is a nice solid example that you can turn the key and drive anywhere. All the power windows and 6 way seat work. The radio and lights all function correctly. I have been using the car on a regular basis and it never lets me down, even in NYC traffic or long hauls to upstate CT! It's not perfect and there are minor scratches and imperfections, but it is ,after all, a 54 year old car. I'll be happy to answer any questions prior to the end of the auction and make it available for any inspection, at my location in New Rochelle, NY. I will also include a notorized stement of fact attesting to the Electra's credentials. You can also look me up on the IMDB under Hollywood Nick Pagani. The reserve is less than I have in it, but I need the space . Thanks for looking ! |

2013 Buick Encore nets strong IIHS, NHTSA safety scores
Wed, 05 Jun 2013After being crushed from every which way and rolled over like a labrador, the 2013 Buick Encore has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. To earn the accolade, a vehicle must achieve the highest rating of "Good" in each of the institute's four main crash tests: Front Moderate Overlap, Side, Rollover and Rear. The Encore aced those four tests with "Good" ratings, but missed out on the coveted Top Safety Pick+ designation by receiving a Poor rating in the institute's new Front Small Overlap test. To be named a Top Safety Pick+, the Encore would need to score at least an "Acceptable" rating in the new test, as well as "Good" in all four original crash tests.
Despite the miss, the Encore joins the Enclave, LaCrosse, Verano and Regal as Top Safety Picks all. If you count only the Encore with all-wheel drive, then all five Buicks have also earned five-star overall ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration, making Buick one of the few manufacturers to offer a full lineup with high scores from both safety rating organizations.
The front-wheel-drive Encore, despite performing equally as well as the all-wheel-drive version in NHTSA's crash tests, only earned four stars overall. As far as we can tell, the discrepancy between the two is because some safety equipment, like Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Assist, are optional features on the FWD Encore and standard on the AWD model.
GM China President says automaker could export vehicles from China to US
Sat, 20 Apr 2013At a press conference on Saturday at the Shanghai Motor Show, General Motors announced plans to further expand its presence in the Chinese market. Among those commitments are plans to build four new plants by the end of 2015, giving the automaker the capacity to produce around five million vehicles a year in the country.
In order to make the most of that expansion, GM is adding 400 dealerships in China this year alone (for a total of 4,200 sales points), and it's eyeing 5,100 dealers by 2015. Yet not all of that production will stay in China - GM is planning to increase exports as well. Officials estimate the company will export somewhere between 100,000 and 130,000 Chinese-built vehicles this year - a record. And it's gunning for more.
Autoblog asked GM China president Bob Socia (above) if that means the company might eventually export new vehicles built in China to the United States, and he responded:
Trademarks indicate Buick Regal wagon could be on the way
Wed, Dec 23 2015American wagon fans have been waiting for General Motors to import a Buick-badged version of the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer since the current Insignia-based Regal hit dealers. If a new patent filing is any indication, that day could be coming soon. Then again, it might not mean anything. AutoGuide reports that Buick has filed two trademarks with the US Patent and Trademark Office for "Motor land vehicles, namely automobiles." You can see the trademarks for "Tourx" and "Regal Tourx" here and here. "Tour" smacks of wagon models, while the "x" – for all-wheel drive – makes us wonder if maybe we'll be seeing a rebadged version of the high-riding Opel Insignia Country Tourer (shown above). This isn't the first time Buick has stoked the hopes of US wagon fans, though. Earlier this year, trademarks were filed for the "Regal Sport Touring," a name that's very close to the Euro-market wagon's title. In fact, that trademark had the same description as the Tourx/Regal Tourx filings. As we've established before, automakers file trademarks all the time. It's far from a guarantee that anything will come of such trademarked names. Still, two wagon-ish filings with the USPTO from Buick in under a year makes it seem like there's at least someone at the Trishield brand that's campaigning for a long-roof Regal. Fight the good fight, friend. Related Video:
