2003 Buick Century , 115,151 Miles , Needs Motor Work , Runs , Pioneer Cd on 2040-cars
Brookfield, Ohio, United States
This car needs motor work or a replacement motor,,, One of the rocker springs came out or broke off as I was told.. I'm no mechanic , I can only relate what I was told by a Pro. mechanic... I was told the motor needs taken apart and rebuild the Rocker-Spring / Valve issue or to replace motor.. Car ran great until this happened.. Car runs straight without pulling or shimming or any other issues.. Handled well and shifted well... Cold AC and a Pioneer CD player that works good..... Front tires about 70% - rear tires about 50%.. Battery less than 6 weeks old....New Air filter.. Newer radiator... Rocker panels are rusty but could be fixed or replaced if desired ... No cracks on dashboard.. No major rips , tears or stains on the interior ( minor rough spot on drivers seat ) Carpet could use a shampoo if desired.... Does not pull when braking... Vehicle does currently run but " misses " due to the number 3 cylinder being " disconnected " according to my mechanic.. Rear brakes might need worked on or replaced - squeal when stopping in reverse and when I first start driving vehicle then quiets after a few miles of driving..... This could be a good car for the mechanical person.. or even a good parts car...Headliner tight...No cracks or chips on windows... Retractable moon roof works well , no leaks.. Interior is good... All lights are currently working.. I still drive this car for short distances but I would not recommend driving this vehicle until the issues are fixed... This can be a good car for someone who can do repairs.. Sold "As Is - where is" only sale... I am located about 10 miles north of Youngstown Ohio , 60 miles southeast of Cleveland on the Pennsylvania state line... Please only serious bidders , this vehicle needs work and no warranty or refunds will apply.. This title is clear and trouble free.....I will arrange title transfer upon final payment ( Please make sure buyer must have appropriate ID for vehicle to be transferred ) Thanks.., Sorry pics don't do justice.. If you wish to see vehicle before bidding or buying please feel free to make arrangements with me.. I can be available between 7 AM to 8 PM... I will consider any Buy-It - Now offers... Buyer is responsible for all shipping or transporting vehicle charges.. Please feel free to Email with any questions ,and Feel free to make an offer.... Thanks

Jay Leno finds no detail neglected on Icon's Derelict 1948 Buick Super
Wed, Apr 1 2015Jonathan Ward seems to have one of the greatest jobs in the world. As the CEO at Icon, he's in charge of not only the company's fantastic trucks but its Derelict series of semi-restored classics, as well. Ward's vehicles are no strangers to Jay Leno's Garage, but the latest guest on the show might be one of Icon's coolest yet. What looks like a 1948 Buick Super Convertible on the outside hides the supercharged heart of a Corvette ZR1 underneath. Like the rest of the Derelict series, this old Buick's toasted paint and pitted chrome are all part of the charm of the car, and it's really a case of beauty being more than skin deep. The Super rides on a custom chassis and suspension to make the convertible a far better driver than even a pristine original example. Plus, Ward hides all sorts of modern upgrades inside that are practically invisible until he points them out. Leno absolutely falls in love with driving the Derelict Buick. If his enthusiasm grabs you, the video below from Ward goes much deeper into the build process of this awesome project.
GM finds steering flaw, decides it doesn't warrant a recall
Tue, Apr 14 2015Guess what? General Motors is back in the spotlight for not recalling something. This time, though, not only does the company have an argument against a recall campaign, but its position is supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to The New York Times, over 50 owners of GM vehicles have reported instances of stuck or seized steering after driving long distances without moving the wheel. One owner complained to NHTSA that the "locked" steering of their 2013 Buick Verano caused a collision with a concrete barrier in a construction zone. Along with the 2013 to 2014 model year Verano sedans, Chevrolet Cruze and Malibu sedans are also affected. Considering the popularity of those models, GM needs to have a reason for not issuing a recall, right? "Based on a very low rate of occurrence – ranging from less than one half to less than two incidents per thousand vehicles – and the fact that the condition is remedied when the wheel is turned, GM determined this was not a safety issue," spokesman Alan Adler told The Times. The company has, however, issued a technical service bulletin for owners that complain of the problem. The fix is nothing more than a software update that is covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles from new. NHTSA cited GM's actions, along with descriptions of the problems from customers, in its decision not to issue a recall, with spokeswoman Catherine Howden saying, "the symptoms described would be a brief, perceptible change in steering feel that has little to no effect on the driver's ability to safely steer the vehicle." "When terms like 'notchy,' 'stick,' 'slip' or 'feel' are used, it does not indicate a meaningful increase in steering effort," Howden told The Times via email. What do you think? Is GM in the wrong here? Should there be a recall, or is the issue so limited as to not warrant one? Have your say in Comments. 2018 Buick Enclave: How engineers made it larger, lighter, more sophisticated
Wed, Apr 12 2017Buick used the unveiling of the 2018 Enclave at the New York Auto Show to introduce its new range-topping Avenir sub-brand to the world. With fancier interior finishes and exterior details, it's Buick's latest effort to make itself a proper luxury brand (or perhaps re-establish itself as such). However, lost in the Avenir song and dance is the fact that the 2018 Buick Enclave is a (very) long-awaited all-new model regardless of the trim level one selects. Like the Chevrolet Traverse upon which it is based, the new Enclave is bigger than the vehicle it replaces but considerably lighter, by about 400 pounds. "We told every engineer, 'get your job done, but then take the weight out,'" said engineer Rick Spina as we hovered next to his larger yet lighter creation. His team therefore set about taking a little bit of weight out from just about everywhere, from using additional aluminum in the suspension to varying the thickness of the frame (thicker in places that needed to be stronger, thinner and therefore lighter in places that didn't). Only about 100 pounds came out of the body with the rest coming from elsewhere. Not only will the reduced weight improve fuel economy (Buick-estimated at 19 mpg combined with FWD versus 18 for the 2017 model) and presumably the old Enclave's rather ponderous handling, but it should only make things easier for the new powertrain: General Motors' now-familiar 3.6-liter V6 and its latest nine-speed automatic. With 302 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, Buick says the new engine will need 7.2 seconds to reach 60 mph with FWD or 7.5 seconds with AWD. That's a second quicker than before. Besides acceleration, towing is also bumped up by 500 pounds to 5,000. For those models with all-wheel drive, the Enclave has the same basic system featured on range-topping versions of the Buick LaCrosse. Besides power being sent front and rear, it can also differ from right to left in the back, although Spina is quick to point out that capability is for traction-enhancing purposes rather than sporty, handling-enhancing torque-vectoring ones. Buick owners already appreciated the Enclave for its quietness so the engineers decided to take it that much further. This included altering the exhaust, improving body sealing (there are triple door seals), including active sound deadening and utilizing advanced materials that absorb sound as opposed to simply being thick, dense and heavy enough to keep it out.
