Please read my entire ad and view all photos before bidding. Up for auction is a 2002 Buick Century Custom. If you are looking for a showroom condition automobile at a used car price, you have found it. Very low miles at only 79,700. This Buick has always been owned and driven by an elderly lady. Very very well maintained and always garaged. No money was ever spared on this Buick. It has had all regular service work done in a timely manner.  Oil and filter changes, transmission services, radiator flushes, brake system flushes and you name it, it’s been done. If the dealership said do it, she did it. She even kept a log book for all work done. Also all recalls were taken care of. She just had 4 new Michelin tires installed and new brakes all around. She treated this car like a child.

CONDITION:  When I say showroom condition I mean it. The car is mechanically perfect. No oil use between changes and of course, no drips of any kind.  The body and paint are a solid 10+. Not a mark on it anywhere. No dings, scratches, dents or  front bug rash.  The paint is beautiful. Also never in any type of accident. All glass is like brand new. No sand scratches on windshield at all. The interior also would have to be rated a 10+. It doesn’t appear that anyone has ever used it. Original carpet floor mats are as new. No funny odors as it’s never been smoked in and never had any children or pets ride in the car. This Buick runs, drives, rides and handles like brand spanking new. Always being here in the south, the underside is as nice as the top side.  You really need to see and drive the car in person as the photos do not do it justice.

OPTIONS:  Power drivers’ seat, power steering, tilt steering wheel, power brakes, Automatic headlights, running lights, cruise control, automatic door locks, power windows, power mirrors, ice cold A/C with driver and passenger controls, Hot heat, remote keyless entry and am fm stereo CD etc. All options operate as new. The car came equipped with a radio with only a tape deck. I had a 200 watt receiver with CD and Ipod input professionally installed.( see photos). The system sounds awesome as the car came equipped with concert sound speakers. The original radio cassette is in perfect working order and will come with the car.

HISTOTY AND REASON FOR SELLING: The first owner of the car was an elderly lady who owned the car for seven years. She’s the one that started the log book. When she quit driving an elderly lady that was a friend of hers purchased the car from her and kept up the log book just as she had done. This lady now can no longer drive and the car went up for sale. I’m 69 years young and have been retired for 7 years. Whenever I see a super nice car come on the market I’ll try to purchase it to resell. This one showed up at church one Sunday with a for sale sign on it and I purchased it. I had to pay a nice little sum for the car but figured I could make a few extra dollars with it. I don’t try to get rich doing this. It mainly just keeps me busy doing something. I’ve been driving the car for the past 3 months and this is by far the nicest car I’ve ever purchased. If you miss this one you’ve missed one heck of a fine car.

If you have any further questions or would like to come by and see and test drive the car or take it to a mechanic of your choice, you can phone me at 706-736-3972. Shipping will be the sole responsibility of the buyer, however, I will assist any way I can. You can fly into Augusta, I’ll pick you up at the airport and you can drive this car home anywhere.

A nonrefundable deposit of $500.00, payable through Paypal, will be due at auction end and the balance will be due within 7 days of auction end payable in cash or cashiers check. (No credit union checks please ). This car far exceeds the definition of NADA clean book. The price I’m asking I think is very fare. A dealer would be asking much more. PLEASE READ MY FEED BACK AND BID WITH ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE. I’ve tried to be as honest about the car as possible. Thanks for taking the time to read my ad and great luck bidding.

GM announces six new recalls, covering 3.5 million vehicles

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

General Motors has just initiated another crushingly large recall, this time affecting some 3.36 million vehicles built between 2000 and 2014 and sold in the US, Canada and Mexico. Once again, the issue surrounds the cars' ignition switches, which can be kicked out of the run position if they're carrying extra weight or if they experience a "jarring" event. In this particular case, though, GM will modify the keys, rather than the ignition itself.
A four-by-six-millimeter hole will be drilled into the key, which will more safely accommodate the weight of the key ring. As is usually the case, the work will be done free of charge. The recalled vehicles include the 2000 to 2005 Cadillac Deville, 2004 to 2005 Buick Regal LS and GS, 2004 to 2011 Cadillac DTS, 2005 to 2009 Buick Lacrosse, 2006 to 2008 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 2006 to 2011 Buick Lucerne and 2006 to 2014 Chevrolet Impala. Only the Impala is still in production, and even then, it's only sold to fleet companies.
According to an official statement from GM, there have been eight crashes and six injuries due to this latest issue. As if this isn't a dire enough blow for GM, the company has announced five smaller recalls, covering 165,000 vehicles.

How to hack a Buick Regal with CarKnow

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

If you own an Apple iPhone or Android device, perhaps you've been tempted to jailbreak or root it. This process gives you access to the the software's code, and can be used to make minor or drastic changes to its operating system. CarKnow, a company in Boston, is working applying a similar concept to the automobile.
Translogic recently took a look inside CarKnow to see just how it can tweak the computers inside a car and what sort of things can be done. As our transportation tech sister site explains, CarKnow basically created a digital duplicate of their Buick Regal in the cloud, while harvesting data generated to create custom apps and infiltrate the deepest function of their test car.
And before you freak out about people maliciously taking over your car, CarKnow's founder, Josh Siegel, stresses that it isn't quite so easy as driving up alongside someone. Take a look at the full video below to see just what it's like to jailbreak a car.

GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect

2010 Buick Enclave - Click above for high-res image gallery
The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.
