Bmw 5-series M535i on 2040-cars
Mc Kinney, Kentucky, United States
For sale is this rare and unique piece of automotive history: the 1985 e28 BMW M535i. This M535i was imported back in 1985 by a private owner as BMW never officially imported these into the United States.I'm not sure if I'm the 2nd or 3rd owner but the car is in very good shape for it's age and runs very strong. It has 165k mi but has had quite a bit of maintenance over the past year. If you have any questions please ask before bidding. Exterior: This is a rare car with the original Euro small bumper from the factory. This is not a retrofit! Very solid with little to no rust (see pictures of door frames) The original paint (Arktisblau-metallic) had been faded by the southern sun and the clear was mostly gone.I wanted a color that did justice to the rarity of this M so I chose a color similar to the Laguna Seca blue used on the e46 M3 in a flat version from DYC. The paint job is average andnot show or factory quality by any means with small imperfections visible throughout. All emblems have been replaced with OEM BMW parts just as everything else on the car. The chrome trim around the front and rear glass has been replaced, the fog lamps, and other lights as well. Brakes: The brakes were completely overhauled starting with the front using OEM BMW 4 piston Brembo calipers and 324mm performance rotors, SS brake hoses and all new hardware. Then the rear were replaced using BMW E34 Euro M5 brake calipers and rotors as well as SS brake hoses and new hardware. Additionally, new brake lines were installed from front to back (not leaking but rusty). This car stops much better than many sports cars today with this BMW BBK. ...etc

Dealers mobilize to protect their margins from automaker subscription services
Fri, Aug 24 2018Six individual auto brands — Lincoln, Cadillac, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and Volvo — have established or are trialing a vehicle subscription service in the U.S. Three third-party companies — Flexdrive, Clutch and Carma — run brand-agnostic subscription services. And three automakers — Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and General Motors — have also launched short-term rental services. Dealers, afraid of how these trends might affect their margins, are building political and lawmaking campaigns to protect their revenue streams. So far, three states are investigating automaker subscriptions, and Indiana has banned any such service until next year. It's certain that those three states are the first fronts in a long political and legal battle. Powerful dealer franchise laws mandate the existence of dealers and restrict how automakers are allowed to interact with customers to sell a vehicle. On top of that, Bob Reisner, CEO of Nassau Business Funding & Services, said, "Dealers and their associations are among the strongest political operators in many states. They as a group are difficult for state politicians to vote against." In California earlier this year, the state Assembly debated a bill with wide-ranging provisions to protect against what the California New Car Dealers Association called "inappropriate treatment of dealers by manufacturers." One of those provisions stipulated that subscription services need to go through dealers, but that item got stripped out when dealers and manufacturers agreed to discuss the matter further. In Indiana, Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a moratorium on all subscription programs by dealers or manufacturers until May 1, 2019, to give legislators more time to investigate. Dealers in New Jersey have taken their campaign to the state capitol, asking that the cars in subscription programs get a different classification for registration purposes. Automakers run the current subscription services and own the vehicles. Sign-ups and financial transactions happen online or through apps, leaving dealers to do little more than act as fulfillment centers to various degrees, with little legal recourse as to compensation amounts when they're called on to deliver or service a car. That's a bad base to build on for business owners who've sunk millions of dollars into their operations.
BMW reveals full details on M235i Racing
Tue, 17 Dec 2013We were suitably excited when BMW first announced the imminent arrival of the M235i Racing. After all, what's not to like about a factory-prepared racecar with 333 horsepower you can pick up for just eighty grand? Now BMW has released the full details on the latest addition to its racing portfolio, where it joins the M3 DTM, M3 GT4, Z4 GTE/GT3 and 320 TC in a growing family of competition machinery prepared by BMW Motorsport.
Based on the new 2 Series coupe, the M235i Racing is the first M Performance model for the track, and boasts the line's most powerful engine: the 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight six has been optimized to 333 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. A mechanical limited-slip differential helps transfer the power to the track surface, along with race-tuned ABS, DSC and traction control.
Four-pot calipers up front and two-pot calipers in the rear shave off speed for the corner and are packed inside the 18-inch alloys, with KW dampers and H&R suspension components. Inside there's a six-point racing harness and Recaro bucket surrounded by an FIA-certified roll cage, and customers can even have an extra seat installed to take passengers for ride-alongs. All of which can be yours for €59,500.00 - equivalent to $82k at today's rates, before taxes.
