Hello and up for sale is a Beautiful Hellrott Red 2001 BMW Z3 Roadster with only 74,800 original miles on the car. The Z has never been in an accident and is in really nice shape. The paint has a very deep gloss to it and has been garage kept with no clear coat or paint fading. I had the front bumper refinished because of road chips and the entire car was just high speed polished, so it really looks stunning now. There are no noticeable door dings or key scratches and the body is very straight. The Convertible top is in really nice shape as well with no rips or tears. The rear window is very clear as well and is cleaned regularly with plastic polish. The leather seats and interior has never been smoked in and is rip and tear free. All the electronics work as they should including cold Ac. Both windows and top work fine with no known issues. Below is a list of recent servicing to ensure a quality Z is for sale: All new drive belts, Serpentine and Ac belts, a heads up these cars do not have timing belts, they have timing chains which do not require changing... All fluids flushed and changed including Oil and new Filter... Both seat bushings replaced to stop the play in the seat rails...There are no service lights on the dash and the car is safe to drive anywhere as I made the trip from California when I bought the car. Thanks and good luck. Please read my feedback from Z buyers as it is perfect... On May-01-14 at 12:52:15 PDT, seller added the following information: The TITLE IS CLEAR AND IN MY POSSESSION. There was never a lien on the car while in my possession. This was likely a previous owner. The "accident" autocheck is referring to, was a ding in the bumper that took place in a parking lot. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. Please email me if you have any questions or concerns. |

BMW X4 M40i leaks ahead of LA Auto Show
Wed, Sep 30 2015Leaked photos of the higher-performance BMW X4 M40i emerged today ahead of its expected debut at the 2015 LA Auto Show. The new model builds on the xDrive35i model, offering an extra 60 horsepower and 43 pound-feet of torque. The hotted-up X4 should use that power well. According to Auto Guide, it will hit 62 miles per hour in 4.9 seconds and should be limited to a top speed of 155 mph – a notable improvement over the existing xDrive35i, which takes 5.2 seconds to hit 60 and has a top speed of 130 mph. Expect the X4 M40i to be followed by an similar version using the X3's more versatile body style, both of which will use an eight-speed automatic and a more aggressive all-wheel-drive setup. Despite the "M" in its name, this is not a full-blown M car. Instead, it takes the same tack BMW has used for the M235i here in America, as well as the M50d models sold in Europe: higher performance over stock, without offering the full enchilada that is a proper M car. That explains the slightly more aggressive body kit, which isn't as sporting as that of a proper M car. On top of the new front and rear clips, there's a set of meaty 19-inch wheels that look to be wrapped in sporty Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. In the cabin, an oversized M-branded steering wheel is the most notable addition. Naturally, we'll have the full range of details on the X4 M40i when it debuts in a couple of months in LA. Researchers halfway to cutting carbon fiber costs by 90%
Wed, 15 Oct 2014Carbon fiber has been utilized for decades to build racecars, as a means to cut weight while maintaining strength. But until recently, the space-age material has been largely absent from the street on anything but supercars because of the expense to use it. Recently, BMW signaled a major shift in that trend when it starting using carbon fiber reinforced plastic panels on the i3 and i8. This relatively small scale start might be just the beginning; the German company believes that a breakthrough to inexpensively manufacture the lightweight stuff is just on the horizon.
MAI Carbon Cluster Management GmbH counts BMW, Audi, Airbus, the German government and many other organizations as supporters, and it's researching how to make carbon fiber cheaper to produce, according to Automotive News Europe. The company thinks it can reduce costs by 90 percent in the near future. "We've certainly reached a halfway point on our cost-cutting target for suitable carbon-fiber parts," said project head Klaus Drechsler to Automotive News Europe.
Unfortunately, it isn't entirely clear just what MAI Carbon is doing to make such a huge leap possible. However, a recent post on the company's website talks about a new form a carbon fiber using a thermoplastic matrix that could be cured in less than three minutes. That's compared to about 90 minutes in the traditional process with an autoclave.
This 1966 BMW 1600 Neue Klasse lives on the backroads
Thu, Mar 3 2016Among early BMWs, the 2002 gets a lot of love for being a relatively accessible, great-handling little sports coupe. Jim Huff explains in the latest episode of Petrolicious why the slightly earlier BMW 1600 Neue Klasse sedan also offers a fantastic drive – especially with some choice modifications. Huff was a fan of 2002s until his wife gave him a vintage BMW sedan model car as a gift. That toy sparked his interest in the Bavarian automaker's earlier four-door models, and he had to have one to drive. He eventually tracked down his 1966 1600 and started on a project to convert it into a great vehicle for blasting over California's backroads. Huff's 1600 still features the original classic lines, but his now includes a larger 2.0-liter engine with Weber carbs, an upgraded suspension, and improved brakes. As a result of the tuning, the vintage BMW can hang with Huff's buddies in Alfa Romeos and Porsches on curvy roads. It sounds fantastic, too. Petrolicous interviews Huff, and he discusses a little about the history of these sedans. The real highlight is seeing and hearing his BMW in motion, though. Enjoy the ride with him in this video.
