2001 Bmw Z3 Roadster Convertible 2-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Dresden, Maine, United States
Condition: New paint on front bonnet. Had minor damage which has been repaired to driver's side engine vent area. I took the opportunity to repaint the entire hood and it came out sparkling. This is a very good looking car which gets lots of attention, especially since it looks like the same one used in the James Bond film that made it so famous. The DSC (dynamic stability control) does not seem to have any effect when driving, so it may not engage. Power windows are in need of lubrication maintenance and go up and down with a little manual assistance now. Power assist on the convertible top motor is not working and has not worked since I bought the car 6 years ago. The roof is not heavy so there is no reason to use a motor to put the roof up or down. The boot cover was also missing when I purchased the car. You can buy them for about $200. There is minor damage to the passenger seat leather where the seam separated at the cushion corner near the door, about three inches, currently covered with a strip of black tape. The leather looks like faux ostrich to me, but I am not sure. The trim molding has a small two inch split near the windshield in the very center. Near the side glass the dash material has come unglued slightly due to the heat. Neither of these things are very noticeable. The stereo is not original, and the subwoofer has been replaced in the center console, as these often wear out. The tires are in good shape, but have been used one season. This car has always been covered, stored and well-cared for. |

2015 BMW X6 keeps it weird
Thu, 02 Oct 2014Say what you will about the BMW X6 - odd and ugly as it may be, it's actually been sort of successful for the German automaker. BMW has now sold some 250,000 examples of the X6 since its launch, and the company's fastback-crossover-coupe-whatever-thing gets a host of meaningful updates for the 2015 model year while not straying from its original mission.
Aside from its revised styling, most noticeably set apart by its larger, X5-inspired headlamps, the biggest update for the US-spec X6 is the addition of a rear-wheel-drive model, the sDrive35i. This trim joins the all-wheel-drive xDrive35i and xDrive50i, and since you should all be capable of decoding BMW's weird naming structure by now, you know this means the X6 will be offered with a choice of 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder and twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engines. Fuel economy figures have not been released yet, but BMW says the new powertrains are more efficient than before, mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission regardless of cylinder count.
Look for the updated X6 to hit US showrooms this fall, following its debut this week in Paris. Expect pricing to be revealed closer to the model's on-sale date. Have a look below for all of the details.
BMW working with Dainese to put airbags in motorcycle suits [w/video]
Fri, 19 Jul 2013Addressing the safety concerns of its customers, BMW Motorrad is co-developing a rider suit with Dainese to feature something that's much more common in automobiles: airbags.
Starting with Dainese's D-air Protect System, which is made up of inflatable protectors that deploy in 15 milliseconds, the two companies will integrate the technology into a BMW Motorrad brand, one-piece racing suit, the DoubleR RaceAir. Later a different, street-oriented airbag system that can be retrofitted to bikes will be offered to Beemer riders.
The DoubleR RaceAir is expected to be presented at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan in November, after all required crash testing has been completed.
BMW M4 Concept leaked ahead of Monterey debut
Thu, 15 Aug 2013Last month, we heard that BMW might be bringing a concept previewing its next M4 sports coupe to this year's Monterey festivities. Well, thanks to the folks at USA Today, we have absolute confirmation of this by way of some leaked images. And goodness, she's certainly a looker.
While a few of us still find some of the 4 Series' design to be a bit awkward, it's hard to not immediately warm up to the aggressive bits of this hotter M4 concept. It certainly looks the business of a proper sports car, and a worthy successor to the M3 coupe. Of course, a lot of this will likely be toned down for the production version, which we'll likely be seeing at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show in January, along with its four-door M3 kin.
The official M4 Concept details will be revealed later tonight, but for now, have a look at a few shots of the golden show car in our gallery of leaked shots, above.
