2000 BMW Z3 M Roadster
Rare example of a BMW Z3 M Roadster. This car is a blast to drive, but I need the money to start a business. Here is everything that has been done to it: Cooling system: - New radiator and hoses - Fan - Fan clutch - Stewart water pump Suspension: - Bilstein Sport shocks and H&R Sport springs @ 160k miles - 28mm H&R front sway bar - All new front control arms, ball joints, tie rods, bushings @ 160k miles - Rear trailing arm modified for eccentric camber and toe adjustment - Diff mount brace installed Sound: - Alpine CDA-7949 Headunit - Alpine PRA-H400 Processor - Aura RPM2300 Amplifier - Rainbow Sound Component set with crossovers Other: - New convertible top @ roughly 180k miles - Added factory Alpine alarm and keyless entry - New brake master cylinder @ 200k miles Issues: - A/C blows cold, but not cold enough - Passenger door stays locked sometimes, does not unlock with remote. Weak lock actuator - Nick in the windshield on passenger side, can't see while driving and zero cracks - Starter hiccups when warm, new starter coming in this week (Sat 5/31/2014) - A couple of door dings and some rock chips - Previous owner hit a deer with the car as the report shows, though there is no damage to the unibody. The hood was replaced. I can provide the carfax upon request. |

As BMW i3 US launch nears, more details discovered
Thu, May 1 2014Think of the BMW i3's gas-powered range-extender as akin to driving around with a middle linebacker in the back seat. Except that football player will have a hard time pushing the car 60 miles or so once the battery runs out. Thankfully, he won't prevent you from getting a nifty tax credit either, according to BMWBlog, which isn't affiliated with the company. The i3's front storage compartment is not watertight. Here in the US, where the i3 will be available in short order, BMW will offer an optional i3 plug-in vehicle with a range extender that will have a 1.9-gallon capacity gas tank. That sounds a good deal smaller than the 2.4-gallon tank used in Europe, but the two are actually the same, the US tank is simply limited to the smaller size, Dave Buchko, from BMW's product and technology communications department, told AutoblogGreen. The complete range extender system – including the tank, the engine, and all related hardware – adds about 265 pounds to the 2,634-pound curb weight of the i3 EV and the extra weight in turn adds about a second to the EV's 0-to-60 time of seven seconds flat. Adding the range-extender won't make the US government take any longer to dole out a $7,500 tax credit for the i3, though. We also learned that the i3's front storage compartment is not watertight since it is only meant to hold the mobility kit and the 110-volt charging cord. BMW recently increased its production of the i3 at its German factory from around 70 units a day to about 100 due to better-than-expected demand. Check out our First Drive impressions of the model here.
2016 X6 M brings the power at LA show
Wed, 19 Nov 2014BMW tore the cover off the second generation 2016 X6 M Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
BMW tuned the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 to push out 567 horsepower, up from the last model's 555 hp. Torque also leaps to 553 pound feet, compared with the previous output of 500 lb-ft. The V8 is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which swaps in for the old six-speed. This potent powertrain allows the crossover to hit 60 miles per hour in about four seconds.
The X6, which features slightly more dramatic styling and an angled rear roofline, debuted alongside the more conventionally styled 2016 BMW X5 M at the LA show.
BMW M4 spied in coupe and convertible form
Thu, 29 Aug 2013From the sound of it, we'll have to wait until the Detroit Auto Show to see the production version of the BMW M4, but spy shots show the new hi-po BMW testing recently in both coupe and convertible form. Showing a lot more skin than recent spy shots, these M4 prototypes look very similar to the M4 Concept we saw at Pebble Beach.
Carryovers from the concept car include the funky mirrors, bulging hood and the slotted front fascia vents, but the rear fascia seems to be missing the added flair of the concept and, as expected, the carbon fiber front splitter and exhaust tips are also missing from these M4s. Like the current M3 Convertible, the drop-top version of the M4 will utilize a retractable hard top.
