DESCRIPTION:

Up for sale is my beloved BMW Z3. Mechanically it's a gem. As I will describe every detail below:

- Sporty, glossy yellow (I think it's called "Dakar Yellow").
- Clean title.
- Manual 5-speed stick shift (yeah!).
- 6-cyl 2.8L engine. This little car with such a big engine I can assure you, it FLIES.
- Brand sparkling new tires (less than 100 miles on them, just spent $400 on tires). Front: Accelera 225/50/16. Rear: Kumho ecsta Asx 245/50/16 (a little wider than the 225's, for better grip and sporty look). Black rims all around, very classy.
- No leaks whatsoever, no strange noises, no weird transmission gear changes.
- No scratches at all in the exterior, no scratches at all in the interior.
- No paintwork needed: looks shiny and smooth all-over.
- Passed smog 5 days ago: you are good for the next 2 years.
- Current registration up-to-date. Tags till APR 2014.
- Manual roof top.
- 106K miles. Runs like new, very strong and fast. I babied this car and always maintained it very well. Any issue it would have I'd take it to the shop immediately.
- Heating seats. This is a great feature, they REALLY get hot. Perfect in winter times.
- Has never been involved in an accident.
- CD player with USB for iPod, computer or mp3.

Every time I take the car out, I get compliments from other drivers. It's a real pleasure to drive it around. This is a luxurious car for a very, very good price. It got famous after James Bond 007's Golden Eye movie. It's Bond's car!

ISSUES:

EVERY car from '98 will have something to mention, but not everybody will mention them. The important thing is to be sincere with the buyer and say everything that you can think of. Way better this way than when you read "mint, no problems at all, everything 100% perfect, as new!" and they are hiding something. As I said, mechanically IS AS BRAND NEW, and the issues that I will list here are completely insignificant, but as I said, since you are not looking at the car personally I rather describe it as best as possible.

- AC does not work. It's a convertible, so I didn't think I would ever use it, that's why I never fixed it (about $200 part is needed, already quoted by the mechanic). In winter I never used it, of course. And in summer I take out the top, so I didn't use it either.
- Power mirrors are not working at the moment. I set them up manually and they work fine. I believe it's probably a fuse which is about $10. It could be something else, but I'm sure it's not more than a $50-$100 fix needed.

And that's it. With about 200-300 dollars you'll leave it AS NEW, including the brand new tires on it. Always changed oil with engine cleanser every 3000 mi, and I always used 91 premium gas.

WHY AM I SELLING IT:

ONLY reason for selling it is that I bought a 7-person mini-van, since I work moving big equipment and I can't afford to have two cars. Now I need the van more than this one. This car is my every-day drive and if I wouldn't have the minivan I'd never sell it. YOU ARE NOT BUYING SOMEBODY ELSE'S PROBLEMS, as I know that is something people are afraid of when they buy used cars.

PRICE:

Bidding starts at $7900 with buy it now option of $9400. I see EVERY single Z3 in eBay go for at least $10.000 with the 1.9L engine and without this sporty, classy and luxurious Dakar Yellow color. I believe this is an excellent deal.
Location: Los Angeles, California.
Payment: PayPal or cash.

REMEMBER:
- This is a privately owned car that I've been driving for the past 4 years. Nobody knows the car better than me. I'm not a dealer that resells cars that never tried before.
- Remember that when you place a bid in eBay the price you put is the maximum you are willing to pay for it and eBay will help you pay the minimum automatically. Example: If the bid is at $8500 and you bid $9200, you will not pay $9200 instantly. You will pay $8510. If later on somebody else bids $8700, then eBay will automatically bid for you $8710 (and so on up to the $9200 you placed as your maximum bid). That means that you don't need to wait till last minute to bid (avoiding the typical "oops! forgot to bid because the oven was overcooking my dinner right at that moment!")
Payment: PayPal or cash.

BMW readying Spartanburg expansion for X7 production

    Mon, 24 Mar 2014

Prior to the debut of the original X5 in 1999, the idea of a BMW crossover might have seemed like heresy. But here we are, fifteen years removed from the Frank Stephenson-penned design, and the Bavarian automaker has expanded its crossover lineup to include the X1, X3, X4 and X6, and it's showing no sign of slowing down.
We recently reported that BMW is planning on slotting an X2 in at the bottom of the range between the X1 and X3, but now it's being widely reported that it's got an even larger one to put in at the top of its utility line. That, of course, would be the X7, a long-rumored three-row model that would give BMW a large family hauler to challenge the Mercedes-Benz GL.
According to The Wall Street Journal, BMW is expanding its assembly plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to accommodate production of the X7 alongside the X3, X4 and X5 that it already builds there for local consumption.

BMW bringing X3 diesel, X5 PHEV concept to New York

    Sat, Apr 5 2014

We've seen the i3 and i8 plug-in vehicles at plenty of BMW auto show stands these past few years. At the upcoming New York International Auto Show, the automaker will spread out a bit by showing off both new diesel and plug-in hybrid SUVs. Bimmer will showcase its diesel-powered X3 vehicle, which starts sales this spring as a 2015 model, and a concept plug-in hybrid X5 SUV. There are lots of figures to digest for what will be called the X3 xDrive28d. The vehicle will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder twin-turbodiesel engine that will deliver 180 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Propelled in part by an eight-speed automatic transmission, the SUV will be able to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about eight seconds. It will be priced with an MSRP of $42,825, which is represents a $3,500 premium over the base X3. BMW hasn't made fuel efficiency figures available, but they should be a nice improvement over the base X3's 24 mile per gallon fuel-efficiency rating in the US. Bimmer is also supposed to bring the X5 eDrive concept plug-in hybrid stateside. We saw it in Frankfurt last fall and then in some on-the-road spy shots more recently. The SUV pairs a 245-horsepower four-cylinder gasoline engine with a 95-horsepower electric motor, and will be able to go as fast as 75 mph and as far as 20 miles on electric power alone. BMW says fuel efficiency will be about 62 miles per gallon, per the more lenient European Union test cycle. That's more than double the current diesel powered X5's 26 combined mpg rating handed out by the EPA. And the model's 0-60 time is less than seven seconds. If you'd like to know more, you can take the better part of the day and check out Bimmer's mighty long press release below. Car technology I'm thankful and unthankful for

    Mon, Nov 27 2017

The past few years have seen a surge of tech features in new vehicles — everything from cloud-based content to semi-autonomous driving. While some of it makes the driving experience better, not all tech is useful or well thought out. Automakers who are adept at drivetrains, ride quality and in-cabin comforts often fail at infotainment interfaces and connectivity. From testing dozens of vehicles each year and in the spirit of gratitude, here are three car tech features I'm thankful — and a trio I could live without. Thanks Connected search: This seems like a no-brainer since everyone already has it on their smartphones, but not all automakers include it in the dashboard and as part of their nav systems. The best ones, such as Toyota Entune, leverage a driver's connected device to search for a range of services and don't charge a subscription or require a separate data plan for the car. I also like how systems like Chrysler Uconnect use Yelp or other apps to find everything from coffee to gas stations and allow searching via voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: It took two of the largest tech companies to get in-dash infotainment right. While they have their disadvantages (you're forced to use Apple Maps with CarPlay, for example), the two smartphone-integration platforms make it easier and safer to use their respective native apps for phoning, messaging, music and more behind the wheel by transferring a familiar UI to the dashboard — with no subscription required. Heated seats and steering wheels: I really appreciate these simple but pleasant features come wintertime. It's easy to get spoiled by bun-warmers on frosty mornings and using a heated steering wheel to warm the cold hands. I recently tested a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe that also had heated armrest that added to a cozy luxury experience. Bonus points for brands like Buick that allow setting seat heaters to turn on when the engine is remotely started. No thanks Automaker infotainment systems: Automakers have probably poured millions into creating their own infotainment systems, with the result largely being frustration on the part of most car owners. And Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming along to make them obsolete. While some automaker systems, such as Toyota Entune and FCA's Uconnect, are easy and intuitive to use, it seems that high-end systems (I'm looking at you BMW iDrive and Mercedes-Benz COMAND) are the most difficult.
