** Exceptional 2007 BMW X5 4.8i SUV w/Warranty **This listing features a very nice 2007 BMW X5 4.8i Sport Utility Vehicle. This car has 70,500 miles, includes all historical service history paperwork, extended warranty and free BMW scheduled maintenance. The warranty and BMW maintenance is good through November 2015 or 97,XXX miles. This car was first purchased (leased) by my cousin. He owns Car Concierge Service in Edmond. His business is in the business of garaging, servicing, detailing, and maintaining local exotic cars for local clients. He is a car fanatic and meticulous with service, proper warm-ups, and everything else car related. Here is a good example: BMWs come with free scheduled maintenance during the first few years of ownership (including oil changes). So, I was puzzled to find the very first service receipt to be an oil change that was not free and the car only had 2,080 miles. I asked Jay why he paid for an oil change and why he did it before it was due. He told me that he thought it was important to change the oil after the engine break-in period and just couldn't make himself wait for BMWs free scheduled oil change. That's Jay - his passion is cars.Jay's lease was for 3 years / 36,000 miles. At the end of the lease, my other cousin (and also Jay's cousin) bought the car from Jay rather than Jay turning in the lease. She bought it July 2010 with 33,832 miles and has owned it since then. When the original factory warranty was about to expire, she bought an extended mechanical warranty and a BMW scheduled maintenance extension. These benefits are good through November 2015 or 97,XXX miles and are transferrable ($100 transfer fee). In February this year @ 65,475 miles, while stopped in a parking lot, someone behind her hit the back of her car. That repair receipt is included (as is every other receipt of every service performed) for your inspection - but it was only the bumper cover that was damaged. The total was $1,163 of which $763 was for the genuine BMW cover and the remainder was paint/clear coat and installation. This car is in very nice cosmetic condition. It's had a clear-bra on the front since new to protect the nose from rock chips. The wheels are black BMW 'snowflake' style wheels and each wheel has a degree of curb rash, but nothing outside of normal - just very minor scrapes. You may find a tiny scratch or chip or blemish or some other sign that the paint/body/exterior is not brand new - but there is not even a door ding - it looks like a <10K mile car. Other than just a slight wrinkling in the drivers side seat leather, the inside is just as nice and still smells new. The tires look new - surely less than 10K miles have elapsed (if that) as they even have the little rubber things still sticking off the sides.** CLICK ON ANY PICTURE FOR A LARGER VERSION ** |

Husqvarna sold to KTM CEO Stefan Pierer
Fri, 01 Feb 2013A couple of days ago the UK's Motorcycle News reported that BMW was in the final stages of selling Husqvarna to KTM, with a deal potentially confirmed as soon as this week. Following that came reports that Husqvarna Motorcycles wasn't sold to KTM but to a Pierer Industries, the company owned by KTM CEO Stefan Pierer. Turns out the advance report was true, as was the follow-up: BMW has just announced a "strategic realignment" of its Motorrad division, explaining that it sold Husqvarna to Pierer Industries in order to focus on the urban and e-mobility segments. Husqvarna's off-road machines, obviously, don't fit into those categories.
BMW bought the Italian-based bike maker with centuries-old Swedish roots in 2007 - the rest of the Husqvarna company remains based in Sweden - and has invested huge sums to integrate the smaller company into the larger parent. Six years later, just when dividends should begin to truly pay off, the brand is sold.
Before BMW made its announcement, one of the theories that forum members put forward for Pierer's interest in purchasing Husqvarna was that he wants his own business to run his own way. The parent company of KTM, Cross Industries, is 47.27-percent owned by India's Bajaj Automotive, with Pierer the majority shareholder, and is on a quest for global growth, taking the fight to BMW in Europe and launching new bikes and technology into the Indian market. Compared to BMW's and KTM's 2012 sales of around 100,000 bikes each in 2012, Husqvarna sold 10,751 bikes, which was a 15.7-percent increase over the previous year. Pierer would have a lot more freedom in the running of a company of that size.
BMW X4 opens up alongside its boxier brother
Tue, 01 Oct 2013It doesn't seem so long ago that BMW (not to mention Audi, Volvo and a handful of other European automakers) weren't in the crossover market. But it's been over a decade since BMW began producing the first-gen X5, and in the fourteen years since, the Bavarian automaker has steadily expanded its portfolio to include the X1, X3 and X6.
The next to join the family will be the X4, which is essentially to the X3 what the X6 is to the X5. That is to say, basically the same vehicle, only with an (arguably) more stylish but less utile roofline. Previewed in concept form at the Shanghai Auto Show half a year ago, the X4 has been snapped by our plucky paparazzi in the past, but this is the first time we've seen inside.
Not only that, but the prototype in question was spotted next to the current X3 on which it is based, which gives us ample opportunity to see the differences between them. Of course, that still primarily comes down to the slantback profile, because otherwise, the two are essentially the same inside and out. Or at least they will be: many of the differences between the two are expected to port over to the X3 when it's refreshed next year, including some subtle interior upgrades - just not the roofline.
Toyota close to licensing deal with BMW for fuel cell technology
Wed, 23 Jan 2013For over a year now, we've been hearing about a potential partnership between Toyota and BMW on everything from sports cars to lithium-ion batteries, but one of the first cooperative projects between these two automakers could bring Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell technology to a BMW vehicle. Reuters is reporting that an announcement is likely to be made as soon as later this week regarding a BMW fuel cell vehicle that could be in production by 2020 with a prototype running around by 2015.
The last we heard of Toyota's fuel cell technology, it was in the FCV-R Concept that we saw at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, but there is no word how far along in development this system is. If it does come to fruition, such a vehicle for BMW would build on the automaker's commitment to hydrogen that started with the Hydrogen 7, which unlike a fuel cell vehicle, simply ran on hydrogen fuel rather than converting it to electricity for use in motors. We're definitely interested where this Toyota/BMW tie up could be headed.
