2002 BMW X5 3.0l 6 cylinder with AWD and Steptronic Automatic transmission. Dark grey exterior with black interior. The truck is a ONE OWNER automobile, a lady purchased it in TN and when she got married moved to SC and registered the vehicle in SC.
It has been exceptionally well maintained at the local BMW dealership - Century BMW. The truck has absolutely no mechanical issues and runs and drives perfect.
It has a few optional extras such as Heated and Power front seats, Power adjustable rear seats, CD player, Hill Descent Control (no need to use the brakes on the hill descent the car will maintain a steady 5mph speed unless gas pedal is pushed down) of course it has ABS and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) and the usual airbag system. Sunroof and power heated leather seats also present and working fine.
It also has a Xenon (HID) headlight system, with headlamp washers. It comes with a factory sport package which in 2002 on the 3.0l models were black exterior moldings, sport suspension, sport steering wheel with radio/cruise control knobs and 18" Sport wheels/tires.
The car has a digital automatic climate control and wood decor package. It comes with a rear door sunshade package and cargo cover (foldable)
The body : It has a few slight scratches around the body but they are very minor and barely visible.
The Engine/transmission : absolutely perfect mechanical condition, no trouble. Runs fine, shifts fine, suspension is solid, steering is tight, no worn-out parts, no shaky shocks, etc.
The interior - Extremely clean and neat, no missing items.
The two exterior defects are :
1. Passenger side (RH) fender has a dent - it happened in a parking lot, the person who did this to the truck was never found. Owner decided not to fix it as it is not terrible bad looking.
2. The rear bumper and tailgate was repainted a few years ago, an another parking lot incident, both original items, just scratches were on them.
3. The rear bumper cover has a scratch from a suitcase, it is approx 3 inches long and it has been filled with factory touch up paint to make it less bad looking. see picture
4. The front headlights were getting yellow, so they were cleaned and polished at a local detailer shop about 2 years ago. They made the headlights look clean and bright !
The interior is perfectly clean, the seats, carpets, door panels are perfect. The lady owner is very thin, under 100lbs so the seats barely worn even on the driver seat, much less anywhere else.
The small imperfections on the inside are :
1. The driver seat back pockets left side support came loose. Both front seat back pockets are stretched out. Only cosmetic issue, as there is no trouble with the function.
2. The passenger side rear door sunshade has came loose on the top, it had a small crack. It was fixed and works fine, but you can see the repairs on the top. Function restored but cosmetically not 100% perfect.
3. The front door handles had a rubberish coating from the factory which has worn off over the years, so it is now a simple plastic without the rubberish coating.
The truck has had its usual BMW X5 issues, all 4 window regulators were replaced, oil seals were changed, original BMW battery is less then a year old.
It had its 160k miles service less then 2 weeks ago when all spark plugs were changed, along with air filter, cabin air filter, wiper blades. The oil was changed at that time also. As per BMW's recommendation
a Castrol Synthetic oil was used from the beginning.
The common driver side leather seat bolster wear is not present on the car, its main reason is the owners small size and weight and also a leather conditioner was applied to the seats/dash/door panels regularly.
Take a look at the seats and carpet, it is perfectly clean and does not look like an average 11 year old trucks interior.
Truck has Michelin Pilot MXV4 Energy tires on 18" factory Sport package wheels. Tires are in good shape, plenty of life left.
A BMW touch up paint kit is included with the purchase.

Tier 1 suppliers call GM the worst OEM to work with
Mon, 12 May 2014Among automakers with a big US presence, General Motors is the worst to work for, according to a new survey from Tier 1 automotive suppliers, conducted by Planning Perspectives, Inc.
The Detroit-based manufacturer, which has been under fire following the ignition switch recall and its accompanying scandal, finished behind six other automakers with big US manufacturing operations. Suppliers had issues with trust and communications, as well as intellectual property protection. GM was also the least likely to allow suppliers to raise their prices in the face of unexpected increases in material cost, all of which contributed to 55 percent of suppliers saying their relationship with GM was "poor to very poor."
GM's cross-town competitors didn't fare much better. Chrysler finished in fifth place, ahead of GM and behind Dearborn-based Ford, which was passed for third place this year by Nissan. Toyota took the top marks, while Honda captured second place.
BMW unleashes new M4 racer on DTM
Mon, 03 Mar 2014We may not get to enjoy the fruits of it all, but we're in the midst of a golden age in touring car racing around the world. In Northern Europe, rival local series have amalgamated into the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship. In the UK, the British Touring Car Championship is enjoying the largest and most diverse grid in its long history. In Australia, the V8 Supercars series has grown from a Holden vs. Ford battle to include challengers from Mercedes, Nissan and Volvo. And in Germany, the DTM championship has managed to lure BMW back onto the grid to open up the battle between Mercedes and Audi. All good things, in short.
Since returning to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters in 2012, BMW has won the drivers' title once and the constructors' title twice, proving the Bavarian manufacturer to be not only a suitable challenger to the two-horse race between its star- and ring-emblazoned rivals, but the dominant force in German tin-top racing. Now BMW is set to enter its third season since returning to the DTM, and this is the car with which it intends to do so.
Replacing the M3 DTM that has impressively won half of the DTM races it has contested over the past two years, BMW's latest racing car is made in the mold of the new M4 coupe. Only it's even meaner. While the production version has switched to a turbo six, the DTM version still uses a V8: a 4.0-liter unit with four-valve cylinder heads, mandatory air restrictors and a Bosch ECU to channel 480 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque to the rear set of Hankook racing slicks through a six-speed sequential gearbox. The lightweight chassis is rounded out with competition-level aerodynamics and all the mandatory safety equipment.
Old vs. new debate gets new life with $25,000 Fiesta ST vs. E46 M3 showdown
Fri, 10 Jan 2014You know who you are. There's probably a few of you reading; the ones that say, "Why would I spend $27,000 on a new Mazda MX-5 when I could get a used Chevrolet Corvette with more power." Yes, we're talking to you, used car proponents. While it is a fair argument, it's not like used cars don't come with drawbacks of their own, though.
In an attempt to put this new-versus-used argument to bed once and for all, Matt Farah of the The Smoking Tire has picked up a pair of $25,000 cars - a used, but lightly modified, 2003 BMW M3 and a 2013 Ford Fiesta ST. Naturally, there's a comparison.
Farah, as he's wont to do, does get into the nitty gritty of what each car is like to drive, and discusses the merits of used and new-car shopping. But as he rightly points out while testing the M3, "So, it is a good car. But like any used car, it really does depend on the individual car."
