2007 Bmw X3 3.0si Sport Utility 4-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
I am selling my beloved X3. This was the only car I have ever purchased new. Actually I leased it then bought it. It has been well taken care of by myself, the dealer and the certified independent BMW mechanic. Kelly BMW did all service until the warranty expired then I changed the oil, oil filters, air filter and cabin filter using Amsoil European Synthetic oil and Mann air filters. I always changed the oil before the recommended service interval. (see record below) I may have forgotten to record a couple oil changes but it is very close. I used a BMW certified independent mechanic for all check ups and repairs after warranty. All parts are OEM BMW. I just spent $3400 to be sure the vehicle is 100%. Now we (wife ;) have decided to buy a new SUV. The pictures show a few dings and scratches on the rear. I backed into my friends motorcycle and caused the scratches on the right side. They have been touched up with OEM BMW paint. There are no noticeable dings or scratches on the sides, just normal road rock chips. The front shows normal rock chips as well. It has always been garage kept. The miles were mostly highway miles traveling 130 miles a day for about 4 years along with vacation road trips. The interior is very good condition. No pets, no smoking, no mud. The two trim pieces on the steering wheel are peeling. The remainder of the interior is very good. Front and rear heated Letherette (NOT leather) seats are great. The vehicle does not have the bluetooth module, but all the controls are in the steering wheel. This is how it was ordered. You can add the module and it should work. Everything works. No records during the warranty period. During warranty the moon roof was repaired, wiper blades were replaced and a couple of trim pieces were replaced. The tires are still very good, they have a 80000 mile treadwear. The brakes should be good for 100000 miles if you drive sensible. We got 123,000 out the the original set. Oil was just changed. I have attempted to disclose all I have documented and memory. This vehicle is in great condition and I would drive it anywhere. You are buying it as is, no warranty of any kind. No returns, refunds or discounts. British automakers take costly precautions as Brexit 'no deal' fears grow
Wed, Sep 26 2018LONDON — Carmakers in Britain have triggered some Brexit contingency plans, such as certifying models in the EU, and are working on redrawing production schedules and stockpiling more parts to defend against any loss of unfettered trade after Brexit. The moves are aimed at ensuring plants, which rely on the just-in-time delivery of tens of thousands of components, can keep operating after Brexit on March 29, but will add costs and bureaucracy which could risk their long-term viability. London and Brussels hope to agree a deal by the end of the year to avoid tariffs and trade barriers, but Prime Minister Theresa May's proposals have been criticized by both Brexiteers, who want a cleaner break from the bloc, and the European Union. McLaren Automotive is looking at having its cars certified by both a British and an EU agency to smooth sales. It is also planning to stockpile critical components and change shipments into the EU around Brexit if there is disruption. "I will sell a little more in January and February and plan to pick the volume up in May and give us a leaner period through the change point," Chief Executive Mike Flewitt told Reuters. BMW, which said last week it would move the annual summer-time shutdown of its British Mini plant next year to April, is looking for lorry parking areas and warehousing on both sides of the channel and is seeking to sign contracts to lease certain locations, a spokesman said. It is also investing in IT systems to handle any new red tape as carmakers estimate tens of thousands of new documents could be needed if tariffs and customs are imposed. The German carmaker's Brexit plans are costing millions of pounds, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters. But Honda, which builds 10 percent of Britain's 1.67 million cars at its Swindon plant in southern England, is not in the market to buy "huge amounts of warehousing space," its Europe boss Ian Howells told Reuters. "It's been a very precise calculation or estimation of what components need to be brought in," he said, adding the firm could also alter its output to sell more into the EU at the start of next year. Waste of money? Many British carmakers have also asked suppliers to look into how they would handle delays at ports, executives told Reuters, as thousands of parts, engines and finished models move between Britain and the continent every day.
Popular Mechanics Breakthrough Awards honors GM Super Cruise, BMW i3
Wed, 16 Oct 2013Our friends at Popular Mechanics have announced the winners of their 2013 Breakthrough Awards, which honor innovations and new technologies in a variety of fields, ranging from medicine to electronics to space travel. Among the winners were a pair of automakers.
The BMW i3 was named one of PM's product breakthroughs, and while the diminutive city car has a range comparable to other electrics, Popular Mechanics was impressed the i3's use of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, which allows the i3 to tip the scales at just 2,800 pounds. But the i3's space-age materials wouldn't have been such a smash if it were priced beyond what the general public could afford. BMW's ability to offer a vehicle with such an advanced construction for around $42,000 (nearly half the price of the Cadillac ELR and only about $7,000 more than a Chevrolet Volt or Ford Focus Electric) is wildly impressive and speaks volumes about the future of ultra-light composites in the auto industry.
The other big winner comes from General Motors, which was named an Innovator this year for its semi-autonomous Super Cruise technology that's currently being tested on a Cadillac SRX. The technology, which we've reported on before, combines adaptive cruise control and lane centering into a super system that will allow hands-free driving under certain conditions.
30th Anniversary BMW M5 information leaks out
Mon, 05 May 2014BMW hasn't kept its 30th Anniversary M5 a very big secret. It even hinted that "a surprise" was coming while celebrating its Autobahn-storming sedan's 30th birthday. However, what exactly was on the way has been a mystery... until now. The folks over at Bimmerpost have found some leaked details about the new model, and it's definitely more than just some badges special paint.
The biggest upgrade for the M5 is that power allegedly increases to 592 horsepower (600PS) and 516 pound-feet of torque (700 Newton-meters). That is a 32-hp and 14-lb-ft increase over the standard M5 and 17 ponies more than models with the Competition Package. The forum claims that all of the cars come with a dual-clutch gearbox, even in the US.
Styling also sees an upgrade with BMW Individual Frozen Dark Silver Metallic exterior paint, special 20-inch wheels, dark chrome trim and 30th Anniversary badges. The interior mixes Merino leather and Alcantara upholstery with dark aluminum trim and more celebratory badges.
