Up for auction with NO RESERVE is a really clean and beautiful 2001 BMW E39 M5 4-door sedan. The car is completely stock and has never had any modifications. Only two owners since new and the current owner has owned it since 2005. It has been meticulously maintained and cared for. This has always been a California car and does not have any rust anywhere. It has never been in any accidents, never smoked it, always responsibly driven by an adult. Never abused, never raced or recklessly handled. Always garaged, still with its original paint. Over ninety percent of the miles were accumulated with highway driving often averaging around 30,000 miles a year due to work being significantly far from home. This is documented and is reflected in the Carfax history report listed below. According to Carfax there is an added $2,420 value to the current book value due to the documented history. The car has mostly been maintained at a BMW dealership and other maintenance performed by a specialized German technician and shop. Some service records are available including the last documented clutch and fly wheel replacement which was done at about 210,000 miles. Currently the car is in very good condition and has plenty of life left in it. All major service is up to date. Mechanically everything is in great working order with no imminent maintenance required. The only thing recommended by the mechanic for the next service is to change the front brakes and rear tires. It drives smoothly and handles fantastically well. It does not emit any noises, no squeaking or rattling of any kind. The ride is the perfect combination of quite, very powerful and responsive.

This M5 is fully loaded with all available options including Premium M Audio with  navigation and a 6 disc CD changer, Alcantara headliner, two tone gray and black leather interior, parking distance sensors, remote keyless entry and alarm, heated seats, dual zone climate control, angel eyes with Xenon leveling headlights, 60/40 split rear fold down seats with ski bag section, rear sun shades, traction control, adaptive stability control, 6 speed manual transmission with pre lit shift knob, universal garage door opener, moon roof, this list goes on and on. On many forums and amongst BMW enthusiasts this is considered to be the best M5 every made often referred to as "The Beast".

All electronics are in great working order, with ice cold air conditioning, all buttons, windows, functions operating nicely. No spots, scratches or blotches on the navigation screen. The rearview mirror is in excellent shape and did not leak or turn blurry, which is very common in the E39 M5. The rear sunshade needs to be replaced and has already been purchased. It's included and is boxed brand new in the trunk.

There is a small crack in the lower lip of the front bumper, a minor dent and scratch on driver's side rear panel. Driver's seat backrest has some visible ware but is in good overall shape with no tares in the lower cushion. Small chips in the front in a few places from lots of highway driving. Faded clear coat on rear bumper. Curb rash on some of the wheels.

Clean California title in hand, currently 263,833 miles on the car, the California registration expires in September of 2014. Also included in the auction are the two BMW keys, both with remote and alarm access, original owner manuals. ***Where the manuals are pictured it looks like there is a quart of oil next to them. This is just a leaflet explaining what oil is recommended for the M5 in the shape of an oil bottle.***

I can help arrange shipping the car anywhere to the national 48 states in the US. Shipping price will vary according to your location and will be added on top of final end price of the car. I just shipped a BMW SUV to my mother in Chicago from Los Angeles for $700. That should give you a rough idea of pricing.

I have plenty of feedback as a seller and have sold many valuable and expensive items. My descriptions are accurate, honest and supported by plenty of recent pictures. A $500 deposit is due 24 hours of auction end and the remainder must be satisfied via certified cashiers check or cash. Vehicle must be pickup up within 7 days of auction end. Please let me know if you have any questions. Local bidders are welcome to come and see the car first hand.

ABSOLUTELY NO BIDDERS WITH 0 FEEDBACK! YOUR BID WILL BE CANCELED UNLESS YOU CONTACT ME FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO BIDDING.

BMW X4 M probably not in the cards

Thu, 26 Sep 2013

BMW is preparing to exploit its latest market niche - those that find themselves unable to choose between the 3 Series, 4 Series and X3 - with the X4. If you're looking for an M product, though, you'll remain limited to the 3 and 4 Series. BMW's Bernhard Ederer, at the Australian launch of the X5, told Car Advice he wouldn't "bet on it," when asked about a hotter X4.
Oddly, Ederer's reasoning, according to the Aussies, is out of concern for the X6 M, whose sales the X4 M would apparently cannibalize. That's like saying the M3 doesn't make sense because it will cannibalize M5 sales - the logic just doesn't really hold up. "The question is what customers are we talking to? And are we talking to someone that is willing and able to afford [an X6 M]?" Ederer told Car Advice.
Car Advice seems to feel the same way, claiming the X3-based X4 will share its powertrains with its donor platform, and will eventually spawn an M variant, albeit a few years down the line.

2015 BMW M4 Coupe ditches some doors, gains some grunt

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

If you saw our earlier post about the hot new BMW M3 Sedan and were about to call blasphemy for no coupe version, just settle down, silly. Remember: BMW now badges its two-door 3 Series models with the number four, and thus, meet the 2015 M4 Coupe. Looks hot, right?
So yeah, it's pretty much just the M3 with two less doors, but that doesn't make it any less important - or potent. Power comes from a turbocharged, 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, sending 425 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels via either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. You know, the usual.
Not only is the M4 more powerful than the M3 Coupe it replaces, it's a good deal lighter, too. BMW has managed to cut 176 pounds of weight out of the M4, and that means, with the increased output numbers, that the M4 will scoot to 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds with the DCT or 4.1 seconds with the do-it-yourself tranny. Either way, that's not what we'd call slow.

2015 BMW 228i xDrive

Wed, Apr 22 2015

Has BMW lost its edge? The answer to that depends on what vehicle you're discussing. The company's products, while still quick and agile, are softer and more forgiving than they've ever been. And while this change may be worrying if we're talking about an M3 or an M5, is it necessarily a bad thing for more mainstream models? That's our question after a week behind the wheel of the BMW 228i xDrive, a vehicle that succeeds the beloved, driver-focused BMW 1 Series. In some ways this new car is a let-down, but in many other areas the new 2 Series is just plain better. The latter is particularly true if we're talking about the new sheet metal. While the 1 Series was a great source of compact, rear-drive entertainment, it wasn't a pretty car. The new 2 still isn't a stunner, but it benefits from BMW's latest design language. It looks wider and more muscular than the squat 1 Series, although certain elements, like the daylight opening and rear taillights, look like they were plucked right from the old car. Overall, BMW has crafted a more premium aesthetic for the exterior of its entry-level coupe. A weak spot for the 1er, the 2 Series cabin sports a similarly upscale redo. Like the last-gen car, the top of the dash is home to a master display for the iDrive system (a neutered, non-navigation version on our test car), while the lower half of the center stack is dedicated to analog controls for the HVAC and audio. The dash layout is similar to the 1 Series, but the execution feels more upscale. The trim around the radio and climate controls includes aluminum and gloss accents. The passenger side dash and center console ditch soft-touch plastic for authentic materials – our car uses real brushed aluminum, although piano black and wood are also available. As with all recent BMWs, the combination of the automatic gear lever, the knob and buttons of the iDrive system, and the toggle switch for the Driving Dynamics Control system mean there's a lot of clutter where the driver's right hand falls. What hasn't changed with the 2 Series is the excellent relationship between the driver and the primary controls. Our test car wears the Sport Line package, which does without BMW's obnoxious, too-large-diameter M Sport steering wheel. Instead, there's a thick-rimmed wheel with textured leather and red contrast stitching. It feels more natural than the oversized M wheel, while this car's large paddle shifters have a solid, well-damped action.
