For your consideration,  an E39 2001 BMW M5.  Title in hand! Two owner car!  Original owner was a prominent business man who had the car meticulously maintained.  Purchased the car 2yrs ago from Chicago.
 List of what I did:
-Wrapped Interior Trim
-Re-wrapped Steering wheel (Leather and Alcantera)
-Both MAF sensors
-Vanos Solenoids tested and repaired
-Door lock solenoid
-Pixels repaired on instrument cluster
-Fuel Pump and Filter

This car is a BMW icon.  In many opinions,  the E39 M5 was the best M5 built to date!  Perfect combination of style and performance.  The 4l V8 produces 400hp,  and takes this car from 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.  You will not be unsatisfied with this cars performance,  I assure you!

Car notes:
The e39 M5 like e46 M3's have noisy vanos units.  This noisy is what the describe as "diesel rattle!"  I can provide more information if needed.  See link from Dr Vanos below.
These units are also well known for the annoying rattling or diesel sound heard at idle and low RPM's. It needs mentioning that the rattling noise is not related to the failing seals or solenoids, and is a separate issue of it's own. It will not harm the engine and is not an indication of the health of the vanos, but is simply an engineering oversight that can be easily fixed with some minor internal modifications.
The common M5 'diesel rattle' can be attributed to the splined gears that fit at the back of the vanos, connecting the vanos to the cam gears. Each splined gear has a bearing assembly inside which allows it to spin freely with the camshaft. These bearing assemblies are designed with a very loose tolerance from the manufacturer, causing them to rattle or resonate at certain RPM's. At DrVanos we slightly modify these bearings to bring the tolerances much closer together for a tighter fit. By reducing the tolerances in the bearing assembly, the gears no longer resonate and the diesel rattling is reduced considerably. This is a permanent modification that will last the life of the car.
There is an oil pan leak(small).  Either lower pan or oil sending solenoids
There is one dent that needs to be removed
Fender liner was previously scraped on the front lower valence.

Car is located in Economy Borough PA,  a northern Pittsburgh, PA suburb.

This BMW 2 Series ad has run afoul of Aussie ad watchdogs [w/poll]

Tue, 29 Apr 2014

A complaint by an Australian movie-goer has put the brakes on an extended in-theater ad campaign by BMW, and drawn the attention of the country's Advertising Standards Board. According to the anonymous complaint, the ad "portrays an unfavorable message, contrary to safe and sensible driving."
The ASB upheld the complaint, which said the ad for the new M235i showed driving "typical of hoon activity," thanks to the burnouts, dusty drifts and runs up to redline. It's that last one that seems to have gotten the spot in the most trouble, with the ASB acknowledging that even though the car wasn't shown breaking the speed limit, the ad was in violation of a voluntary code of conduct for automotive advertising, according to Australia's Go Auto.
BMW doesn't seem to agree, pointing out that the ad uses creative editing, aggressive camera angles and other filming tricks to "add visual impact."

BMW: Newfangled Idea

Mon, Feb 2 2015

Former Today Show hosts Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel joined the all-new BMW i3 for its 2015 Super Bowl spot. The 60-second spot harkens back to the pair's bewilderment over the Internet way back in 1994, before cutting to the revolutionary electric Bimmer, which elicits a similarly perplexed reaction. It's a clever spot for BMW, tying its perhaps misunderstood EV to another formerly unfamiliar piece of tech. We're no strangers to the i3, but if you are, check out our detailed review on the electric hatch.

BMW readying impressive track-focused M Power App

Thu, 06 Jun 2013

There are a lot of questionable automotive apps that people put on their smartphones these days, but BMW has created what could be one of the most useful and integrated car apps ever. The new M Power App, which will be available this summer only for Apple iPhones, allows BMW owners a whole new way to record their performance on the street or on a track. During the launch of the recent BMW M6 Gran Coupe, BimmerPost was able to get a full demonstration of how this new app works.
Far more involved than the current M Power Meter, the M Power App records data from in-car sensors and acts as a telemetry tool to allow drivers to see how they did on a particular track. Aside from an overlay on a track map showing acceleration and braking applications as well as head-to-head comparisons, the app also shows a line graph of everything from brake and throttle inputs to g-force, fuel mileage and engine speed. A small visual on the screen also shows steering angle, and lap times and speeds can all be stored as well. The data can even be shared with others, whether for bragging rights or instruction purposes.
This app works on any newer BMW equipped with the BMW Apps option, but the phone must be tethered to the car and the data understandably cannot be viewed while driving. Scroll down for the video demonstration recorded recently at Austin's Circuit of the Americas.
