1991 Bmw M5 Base Sedan 4-door 3.6l on 2040-cars
Knoxville, Tennessee, United States
For sale is my beautiful and well-maintained 1991 E34 M5. The car was recently purchased from a BMW master mechanic and race technician who owned the car for the past 20 years. During his ownership he performed extensive work on the engine to increase the horsepower, such as custom ported and polished head. He also installed a custom cam and Dinan cam gear, which required a custom Dinan ECU chip. A custom exhaust system was also installed and it sounds great. Acccording to the previous owner, the motor is now pushing close to 400 BHP. A custom built high pressure clutch was installed to handle the additional HP generated by the upgraded engine. I had my mechanic go over the car and transmission and the only thing he found was a leaking clutch slave cylinder, which has been replaced. To improve the handling of the car the previous owner installed a Koni suspension on all four with Eibach sway bars. To keep the car under control a set of BMW 850 CI Euro brakes were installed along with stainless steel brake lines. The interior of the car is in excellent condition, the previous owner had a suede headliner and door panels professionally intstalled. He also installed a 10'' subwoofer and amp. After I bought the car I installed a new Alpine radio faceplate with CD/AUX/Pandora connections along with a full set of Kenwood speakers. The leather seats are in great condition and all interior controls work properly. The exterior paint is original and in excellent condition because the cars has always been garaged. The paint is bright and there has never been any body damaged whatsoever. All body panels are original with matching VIN. The previous owner had the original M wheels powder coated black and he also installed a set of Hella smoked tail lights. The tires are in good condition with plenty of tread and grip. The reason I'm selling it is because I honestly need something smaller and a little bit better on fuel. This M5 would make a great trackday car, although, it has never seen any track time. These 2nd Gen. M5's are super rare and definitley an open opener. This car is my DD and miles may change. Please feel free to message with additional questions or requests.

Automotive April Fools' joke roundup [w/videos]
Mon, 01 Apr 2013Happy April, everyone. And we all know what this first day of the month means: April Fools' Day. Today is a national holiday for pranksters with the Internet acting as a serious enabler, and it's always fun to see what kind of vivid imaginations exist out there in the automotive world. The abundance of fake news gets a little old as the day rolls on, but we did manage to get in a few chuckles thanks to a handful of major automakers and automotive news outlets that got into the pranking spirit this year
Some of our favorites this year includes Subaru showing what happens when you combine a bunch of rumors, a Corvette some may have already thought was a joke or Honda providing some in-car innovation circa the late 1980s. Honestly, we're still waiting for official confirmation from Mitsubishi that the recently introduced 2014 Mirage is an elaborate April Fools' joke using a failed design intended for the 1995 Geo Metro. We dug up as much "official" OEM foolishness we could find, as well as some of our other favorites, and posted them all below.

Toyota GT86 engineers explored shooting brake and sedan variants, are they still in the cards?
Wed, 13 Mar 2013According to the Toyota UK blog, engineers for the automaker were so excited developing the GT86 coupe that they investigated producing a whole family of models based on the rear-wheel drive sports car. And at least one engineer - product chief Tetsuya Tada - still hopes it can happen, even if not everyone at Toyota is onboard. Tada: "Actually we tried to do this secretly but the executives found us out. They said: 'What are you doing? Will you please focus on the coupe.'"
Those mooted variants included both a four-door sedan and a shooting brake. Why? Aside from the pure excellence of a lightweight, brilliantly handling hatchback, Toyota was keenly aware of the fact that it may need to spread the cost of development out across several models. Tada says that's part of the reason why it was so easy to create the convertible. The company knew from the outset that a softtop version was in the cards, and built the machine's structure to accommodate having the roof sliced off.
Tada also made mention of the already-announced collaboration between Toyota and BMW. The engineer said that the GT86 was particularly helpful because it demonstrated just how successful a product conceived and designed by two different companies can be. While he didn't say exactly what Toyota and BMW are up to, it's clear the two are looking into a number of possibilities. It's an interesting read with a lot of
