1988 BMW M5
For sale is my M5, I purchased this vehicle with the intention of restoring it, I have since purchased another car and something has to go, unfortunately its the M5. The Car has been driven about 1000 miles since I have owned it and has been reliable. The car is very original and complete with the exception of bilstein struts/shocks. It still retains all of its VIN stickers on all the body panels so im confident it has never been in an accident. It is in need of a restoration as it is a high mileage vehicle. The odometer says 284k and is not working-- mileage is unknown, unfortunately I did not get any history on the vehicle I don't know if engine has been rebuilt/replaced , But it runs good doesn't blow any smoke, doesn't have any typical s38 start up noise and has plenty of power. Everything works a/c, lights, sunroof, door locks. I have had some mechanical work done on the car consisting of: Valve adjustment, new radiator , clutch fan and coolant flush, new pedal box, clutch master, Brake system flush, some new vacuum lines, cam cover gasket. and a recommended cleaning of all the underhood electrical plugs. and connections.
As a whole the body is straight the paint is glossy and nice- but is original and should be redone, it has rock chips, scratches small dings and dents . Interior should also be redone seats have some cracking dash has a few cracks ,ash tray is missing
What needs immediate attention:
Brake system needs to be gone through front caliper is sticking
shifter is sloppy and should have bushings replaced.
Trunk has an issue : if you open the trunk you have to play with the hinge to get it to close again , the hinge is bent and causes the trunk lid to be out of alignment.
Overall the car needs a complete restoration- however I considered turning it into a daily driver and just re doing the brakes, but I cant get myself to do this to the car. It should go to someone who's going to restore it.
Feel free to ask any questions , if you would like to come see the car that's fine let me know we'll set up a time.
I reserve the right to end the auction early

Next-gen BMW 5 Series sedan spotted with production body, possible PHEV
Fri, Dec 12 2014The current BMW 5 Series is just a few years old since its 2009 debut, but the Bavarians are already preparing to put the model out to pasture. Here's our first glimpse at the production bodywork for the next-gen sedan after spotting the wagon version during testing – twice. While the cladding and swirling camouflage make specific details difficult to discern, it doesn't look like we should expect any massive changes in design language from the new model. The nose appears to dip a bit more at the tip of the front end, but otherwise there's no way to mistake this as anything other than a 5 Series. Squint hard enough at the front left fender and you can notice what seems to be a small door. Our spies think that this might be hiding the charging port for a plug-in hybrid version. While the styling doesn't appear to be changing much, the next 5er reportedly has a new platform underneath the skin that supposedly will help it shed around 220 pounds. The debut for this lighter but likely similar looking BMW is expected sometime in 2016.
2014 BMW 4 Series drops its top, priced from $48,750*
Sat, 12 Oct 2013BMW will debut its new 2014 4 Series Convertible at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, and after seeing plenty of spy shots and, most recently, some leaked images, we now have all the official details. To no one's surprise, the 4 Series convertible is, essentially, a topless version of BMW's new-for-2014 4 Series coupe, and will be offered in the United States in the same 428i and 435i guises.
On the base end, that means the 428i Convertible arrives with the company's 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, good for 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, and available with either rear- or all-wheel drive. BMW says the 428i will sprint to 60 miles per hour in a respectable 6.2 seconds. For folks in need of more thrust, BMW will happily sell you a 435i Convertible, available only with rear-wheel drive, powered by a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline-six that produces 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of twist. Hitting 60 mph in the 435i will take roughly five and a half seconds with the standard eight-speed auto. Curiously, BMW did not mention anything about a six-speed manual transmission for either model, so looks like this droptop might be an auto-only affair. We've contacted BMW for confirmation, so we'll keep you posted.
Like the 3 Series Convertible it replaces, the 4 Series uses a three-piece folding hardtop configuration, and BMW says that added sound deadening reduces audible wind noise by about two decibels. Folding the automatic roof takes just 20 seconds, and can be done at speeds up to roughly 11 mph. For chilly, top-down driving (something we're big fans of), there are now three-temperature neck warmers for the front seats - just like what Mercedes-Benz offers with its AirScarf system.
Mercedes leads in US luxury car thefts
Wed, 31 Jul 2013Mercedes-Benz makes some fine automobiles. The Silver Arrow'd cars are so good, apparently, that thieves can't help but try to steal them. The German brand is at the top of the charts for luxury car thefts in the US, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, with New York City leading the way. (And those New Yorkers complain about Detroit being bad!)
The C-Class was the most stolen model, with 485 ganked between 2009 and 2012 in NYC alone, while the E-Class and S-Class (which also boasted the worst recovery rate, at 59 percent) both finished in the top ten. Following the C-Class was the BMW 3 Series and Infiniti G. Not surprisingly, each of these were the most common models in their respective lineups. Los Angeles and Miami are also prime hotspots for luxury car thefts, according to the Detroit News report.
While getting your car stolen is pretty awful, there was one inspiring statistic compiled by the NICB - the average recovery rate across the board was 84 percent, with the Cadillac CTS getting recovered 91 percent of the time.
