Overall
the car is pretty clean. There's a few scratches on the paint all around, and
rock chips on the bumper, definitely need a nice wax/polish/claybar
treatment. |
Interior is clean too, driver
side door arm rest is worn and passenger side a pillar at the bottom starting
to wrinkle a little, but nothing torn. |
I bought this car here in
Houston from the 3rd owner, iirc on carfax it only lists 2 owners before me.
(I have the carfax pdf I can email) |
But PO used to travel a lot
and put highway miles on the car, and sold it to me cause he was moving to
Canada. |
My plan was to prep this car
to compete in NASA Time Trials (TTB), and may have over extended myself on
this project….considering a few options now. |
To be competitive in TTB, car
will need a few more parts to maximize points and I have the breakdown of
what can be added, depending on your driving style. |
I can of course add/subtract
any mods from the list….except the engine work. |
The rod bearing upgrade was
done as preventive maintenance, as I knew I would be tracking a lot. |
I've only done 1 track day
with the car, car has a lot of top end power, pulls strong till 8000 rpms,
suspension will need fine tuning, I'm going to add more negative camber up
front to see if the midturn/exit understeer goes away. |
Everything works on the
car…there's a few rattles here and there with such a stiff suspension. |
Car was recently aligned and
corner balanced - car weighs 3362lbs with half tank gas, front/rear balance
50/50, cross balance 49.9/50.1. |
Most of the main work (engine
and reinforcements) were done at Greg Smith Racing @ Dallas, TX. |
All parts installed above are
brand new - except for the kidney/side grille. There are other small parts
replaced too like screws/clips/clamps etc. |

BMW has made it official - there will be a flagship crossover called X7, and it will be built right here in the US of A. The announcement was made today, confirming rumors of the new model at the Spartanburg, SC factory that broke earlier this week. "Plant Spartanburg was built to enhance and expand the BMW lineup, underscoring the BMW Group commitment to the United States" said Dr. Norbert Reithofer, chairman of the BMW board of management in a statement. "In addition to the X3, X5, X6, and the new X4, we are today announcing another all-new, larger X model to be manufactured exclusively at this plant for our world markets: the X7." BMW will spend $1 billion by 2016 upgrading its South Carolina factory, which already produces the X3, X5 and X6. The plant is currently capable of producing 300,000 units per year, but with the big investment from BMW, capacity will climb to 450,000 units. 800 jobs will be added as a result of the investment and new and upcoming models.

A month after the official curtain was dropped, BMW has seen fit to release pricing information on its new 2014 X5 crossover. The X5 sDrive35i, which is the first rear-wheel-drive version of the X5, will begin at $53,725 (*including $925 for destination and handling) while the traditional all-wheel-drive X5 xDrive35i will begin at $56,025. Both feature BMW's well-regarded 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo N55 engine with 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. The 2014 BMW X5 xDrive35d (Have these convoluted names confused you yet?) is priced at $57,525 with its 3.0-liter diesel engine (255 hp and 413 lb-ft), and, finally, the TwinPower Turbo V8-powered X5 xDrive50i (445 hp and 480 lb-ft) will start at $69,125. Buyers looking to customize their X5 experience can choose from the Luxury Line, xLine or M Sport packages, plus Ivory White and Mocha Interior Design Packages. Regardless of which engine is chosen, the X5 will come equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission. For comparison, the 2013 X5 xDrive35i started at $48,425. That means the price has increased by over $5,000 despite not including standard all-wheel drive or by $7,600 when comparing apples to apples with similar six-cylinder engines and power to all four wheels. The V8 model increased by $4,000 and the diesel, interestingly enough, dropped by $100.

Weddings are often joyous, fun-filled occasions full of revelry and some serious celebrating. And while we appreciate the fact that a couple is being joined together, we have a feeling a video like this could have very easily ruined said couple's big day. It stars a bride, a groom and a BMW M3. But rather than the couple being in the car and laying down some rubber, the E46 M3 is doing donuts around the couple. We shouldn't have to explain why this is a bad idea - even if the driver is competent, this could have gone wrong pretty easily. Still, it didn't, and the end result is pretty cool. Take a look below and let us know what you think in Comments.
