2011 Bmw M3 Sedan E90 on 2040-cars
Jersey City, New Jersey, United States
2011 M3 4 Door Sedan.
This vehicle retails for $60k in excellent condition.. You are looking at a 2011 BMW M3 Sedan. The car has less than 15000 miles. Call or text show contact info When the dealer purchased this M3, the computer module and navigation did not work. He replaced the computer modules and reprogrammed the navigation and everything worked. This M3 had a Florida rebuilt title, Now a NJ TITLE. Upon inspection of the title, it says potential flood damage. We looked under the carpet, inside the engine bay and did not see any water marks. Usually a flood will leave a mark, but this had no marks what so ever. We also examined the underside of the vehicle and it's in pristine condition. He thought it might have been an insurance scam, because the car started right up and all he needed was to replace the module and re program the navigation. Mechanically, the power button in the side console does not light up. It works fine; just does not light up. I have the dealer inspection report from BMW of Tenafly showing that it's working fine.. I can email to anyone interested. Now about the car.. It's an M3..The car drives like a dream. The engine is silky smooth and has tremendous power. It responds to every gear promptly and sticks to the road like glue.. It has tremendous acceleration. This car is one of the best vehicles I've ever driven. I would describe it as driving a 4 wheel motorcycle. It goes where I want it to go when I press the gas pedal. The car feels super light and has tremendous torque. The engine has a distince M humm; I would describe it as a jet engine winding noise. It is a beautiful vehicle. I've driven brand new 2012 M3's from the dealer and it drives just like it. The vehicle has less than 15000 miles on it. This is the last year of the M3 Sedan with the New Rim design and it's a highly collectible vehicle. I get tremendous compliments about the vehicle where ever I go. BMW hires Ferrari chief engineer Fedeli
Wed, 08 Oct 2014There's going to be a little bit more Prancing Horse in some future BMWs because the Bavarian brand is hiring Ferrari chief engineer Roberto Fedeli to join the company in November. Fedeli's new position is still somewhat of a mystery though, and he reportedly might be lending his talents to the high performance M division or possibly even Rolls-Royce. When asked by Automotive News Europe, BMW said that it "currently can't say what his role will be."
Regardless of his new job, Fedeli was a big get for BMW because of his strong résumé. He has been with Ferrari since 1988 and led the engineering for the famous Italian automaker's vehicles since 2007. Fedeli tendered his resignation in September at around the same time that chairman Luca di Montezemolo announced his decision to leave the company. However, Ferrari told ANE that there was no connection between the two events.
BMW reacquires original factory as classic center
Thu, 27 Feb 2014BMW was barely two years old when it started manufacturing airplane engines in a factory on Moosacher Strasse in Munich. Two years after that, it sold the factory to Knorr-Bremse AG, a leading manufacturer of brakes for trains and commercial vehicles, and BMW moved into a new facility on Lerchenauer Strasse. There it expanded into the industrial giant we know today, building engines for cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats and planes. It's taken the better part of a century to get that original factory back, but that's exactly what BMW has done, reacquiring the expanded facility from Knorr-Bremse this month.
The factory on Moonsacher Strasse will now serve as the headquarters for BMW Group Classic, the division that handles archives and historical vehicles for BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce. From there, just a stone's throw from corporate headquarters and its main plant (as well as BMW Welt and the BMW Museum), the classic division's operations will include a restoration workshop, vintage parts store, the company's archives, administration as well as a place to hold events. In addition, there will be an exhibition space for historical vehicles from the company's considerable collection.
At the heart of the new/old campus is the gatehouse, which is a protected heritage site and will serve as a gateway into the company's history. Read the full details in the press release below.
Why won't automakers slap on a turbo badge anymore?
Thu, Sep 10 2015Where have all the turbos gone? Not the actual pieces that go in the engine, mind you, those are everywhere these days as automakers downsize cylinder counts and boost efficiency and CO2 claims. But the turbo badges and fanfare are missing. Back when turbos were something to get excited about there was "turbo-driven," "turbonium," and "The Turbo Zone," among other silly lines. But now that basically every car is getting some sort of boost even on the lowliest trims, automakers are almost sliding in the turbos under the radar. Or if you look at some of the nomenclature, pretending they don't exist at all. The 911 Turbo badge shows where the car goes from being sane to lunatic. It's an important border. The latest automaker to hide that it has boosted the turbo presence is Porsche with the 2017 911 lineup. Even the standard Carrera models now get turbocharged flat-six engines, meaning the 911 Turbo models aren't quite as special as they once were. Porsche is in a sticky situation with this. The 911 Turbo, after all, signifies where the 911 family takes off from being a sports car and becomes the Ferrari fighter. The 911 Turbo badge shows where the car goes from being sane to lunatic. It's an important border, but now Porsche has crossed it and is trying to downplay the fact. There are a lot of exaggerations with displacement badges today, with claims the 2.0-liter turbo four in a Mercedes C Class equates to a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter six to make a C300. Volvo is pretty far up there, too, saying an XC90 T8 means V8 power, even though it's a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged four with electric assist. I don't know why BMW can't just call the car a 330i Turbo, rather than inflating the numbers up to 340i. Saab tried all of this back in the '90s when it decided to turbocharge its entire lineup, from light pressure units all the way up to models actually called "Saab 9-3 HOT" (for high-output turbo). But then the brand deleted any external reference to the turbo under the hood and people wondered why they were buying a $42,000 four-cylinder convertible. And that didn't turn out well. Even though these turbo replacements often make more power than their naturally aspirated predecessors, they're very different engines. People knew something changed when they exchanged their leased 328i with a 3.0-liter six for a 328i with a 2.0-liter turbo four.
