2004 BMW M3 E46 with SMG transmission for sale. Imola Red (color exclusive to M vehicles). 90,500 miles on the odometer. I purchased this car in August 2011 with approximately 84,000 miles. Vehicle is in excellent running order. Car has been well maintained, garage kept, weekend driven only, never a daily driver vehicle. It has always been a non-smoker's vehicle. I never raced it, and it was always driven carefully.

What's Right:
• Car is mechanically sound and is an excellent example of an E46 M3. It is extraordinarily fast and performs as it was intended. It shows some minor signs of wear and tear, but the important things on this car work very well.
• When I bought the car I had the usual filters, drive belts, spark plugs and fluids inspected and swapped. I have had the car professionally maintained since then and have copies of these records.

What's wrong:
• The cigarette lighter is missing. The socket still works for phone chargers, etc.
• The driver's side power door lock has never worked for unlocking. It does work for locking. I simply use the key to unlock the driver's side door after I disarm the alarm.
• There is a trim rail missing on the roof. This rail conceals mounting holes for a ski rack.
• The tire sensor light on the dash board is always on, no matter how the tire pressures are set.
• The body and wheels have some scratches from the previous owner. Some of them were repaired, and evidently not by a professional.
• The driver's floor mat was missing when I purchased this car. Same for some of the factory tools in the car's trunk lid.
• The fuel gauge is consistent, but a little off. This is apparently common for this vehicle. When the gauge reads 1/4 full, I start looking for gas stations.
• It leaks windshield wiper fluid.
• Both fog lamps have cracks on the lenses. They both work fine despite the cracks.
Rear tires will need to be changed soon. Front tires are in great condition.

Aftermarket parts:
• The front struts were replaced. Initially I was going to buy stock struts, however Koni adjustable struts were available and actually cheaper than factory stock. They work amazingly well. The softest setting performs like the factory struts, leaving room to tighten them up for a more performance oriented feel.
• The factory stereo was pretty pathetic, and was replaced with a Kenwood CD player (Excelon KDC-X796), professionally installed by CARTOYS. CARTOYS also hardwired and routed a radar detector cord to the top of the dashboard, so that a cord would no longer be required at the cigarette lighter or draped across the heater and stereo controls. CARTOYS also installed an aftermarket alarm system (Clifford Model 320.3X).
• The factory auto-dimming rearview mirror was replaced by a more reliable and safer electronic version. The stock mirrors have a tendency to fail, and leak corrosive liquid.

Included:
• Full set of Cooper studded snow tires mounted on 17" alloy wheels. 225 45 R17 tires, the size recommended by BMW for winter tires.
• 2 BMW keys.
• 2 alarm remotes and instructions for alarm system.
• Box for the Kenwood stereo system, remote and instructions.
• Koni front strut adjusting knob.
• Instructions for alarm system
• Original BMW Business CD player/radio
• Bentley Mechanic's Manual

Features:
• Power Steering
• Power Door Locks
• Cruise Control
• Traction Control
• Anti-Lock Brakes
• Keyless Entry
• Power Windows
• Automatic Climate Control
• Leather Seats
• Stability Control
• Limited Slip Differential
• Lightweight Domed Aluminum Hood
• 3.2L Inline 6 cylinder engine; 7900 Rpm Redline and 333 Horsepower
• Steering column mounted Shifting Paddles, in addition to the center console mounted gearshift.
• Automatic shifting mode

Options:
• Heated Seats
• 19" Alloy "M" Wheels
• Power Sunroof
• Bi-Xenon Headlamps
• M Leather Steering Wheel
• Front Center Armrest
• Auto-Dimming Interior Mirror
• Park Distance Control
• Rain Sensor Windshield Wipers
• Auto Headlights

BMW 2 Series Active Tourer corners surprisingly flat on 'Ring

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

With seven seats and front-wheel drive, you might not expect the upcoming long-wheelbase version of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer to live up to the Ultimate Driving Machine reputation that BMW has fostered over the years. But the latest spy clip from the Nürburgring suggests otherwise.
The Bavarian automaker has apparently been testing its new people mover on the Nordschleife, getting it ready to join the growing 2 Series family. And though it's wearing heavy camouflage, we can clearly see from the video below that it's cornering impressively flat - which bodes well for those who'll need to transport their expanding family but aren't prepared to give up on handling.

Genesis G70 vs sport sedan rivals: How it compares on paper

Fri, Sep 15 2017

We got our first look at the Genesis G70 sport sedan today. We think it looks good, with enough ties to its fellow Genesises (Geneses?) to further establish the brand and just enough distinction to help it stand out from the crowd. But ah yes, the crowd. Although Genesis didn't release the G70's full spec sheet, it revealed just enough for us to start sizing it up to its future competition. There are certainly others with which to compare (Lexus IS, Cadillac ATS, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Jaguar XE just to name a few), but we decided to take a look at the best sellers and most competitive luxury sport sedans. (And hey, if you like this, we can always do a follow up) So, here we have the Genesis G70 vs BMW 3 Series vs Audi A4 / S4 vs Mercedes-Benz C-Class vs Infiniti Q50. Nothing like a good chart to dig your teeth into on a Friday. Note that we only compared those models that line up with the G70. So, we left out the BMW 320i and Audi A4 Ultra entry level models as well as the Q50 3.0t mid-grade model that's considerably cheaper than the German performance upgrade models we listed. All 0-60 figures are rough estimates based on several sources, models/drivetrains and OEM figures. A Tasty Bit Of Old School For The New School
Against the backdrop of fervent hand-wringing from brand purists, BMW is on the cusp of finally offering front-wheel-drive vehicles. While that's a shock to the constitution, many are pointing to the company's fine-handling Mini offerings as an article of faith that it can get this drivetrain paradigm shift right. That may be true, but there's an even more important lesson that Mini has taught the decision-makers in Munich: how to make real money on small cars.
Before Mini came along, BMW - along with seemingly every other premium European automaker - never really figured out how to coax big dollars out of American wallets without developing cars that had large footprints, at least those other than sports cars. While the automaker really got rolling in America on the strength of little bantamweights like the 2002, it veered away from small cars sometime in the '80s. BMW subsequently crashed and burned with the cut-and-shut 318ti built off its E36 3 Series and, good as it is, the 1 Series hasn't given the company meaty volume or profits, either. Among other brands, the Audi A3 has never rung up big numbers, and the less said about the painful sales figures of the Volvo C30, the better. But Mini has beat the odds, blazing a more affordable and evidently compelling trail. As of late, the company's Countryman softroader has been a massive hit worldwide. No surprise then that BMW has reconsidered bringing over its smallest softroader, the X1, to the US.
