VEHICLE RELISTED - Buyer had second thoughts on buying car he had never seen before so I returned deposit to him and canceled the deal.  I can understand his situation, but please do not bid on vehicle if you are not serious about purchasing.

This is a very clean 1997 BMW M3 with vader seats, 11-button OBC, fresh oil change and comes with stock E36 wheels and BBS replicas (Currently on car). Car is in great condition and very clean considering it is a 1997.  Recently the headliner, radiator, and radiator fan clutch have been replaced.  New brake pads and rotors in the front due to warped rotor (previous owner put on cheap slotted rotors).  Rear brakes are in good shape.  Paint is in good condition.  Minor blemish near front right fog lamp (small debris must have popped up and scraped paint while driving.  I am not in a rush to sale this car, but I will entertain reasonable offers.  I relocated back to Nashville from LA (car was shipped back, not driven) and would like to get a bigger vehicle at this point.  Car is fun to drive and never been tracked.  Please email me with any questions on the car.

On Aug-24-14 at 06:18:40 PDT, seller added the following information:

I realized that the questions and answers from the original ad here on eBay are not posted here.  Wanted to get them copy and pasted here for additional info about this M3:

Q: Nice looking M3! A couple of questions: Has the car been smoked in (very important)? What kind of suspension is on the car? Does the car have 2 kinds of wheels or am I just mistaken? Are any check engine or codes being thrown on the dash or check control screen? Condition of the headliner? Many thanks.Aug-10-14
A: Thanks for your interest. Car has never been smoked in. Konis suspension on the car. 2 sets of wheels come with the car, stock set and BBS reps. No check engine lights or codes. Headliner was replaced last year except for cover on sunroof which is still holding up.
Q: Hi, i have a few questions. Does the A/C work? Does the power steering pump leak? Have you had any issues with the rear shock towers breaking? Have you ever replaced the shocks and struts? Do you have the maintenance records? Are the spare wheels staggered or all one size? Are they mounted with tires? Condition? Thanks, I am very interested in the car.Aug-10-14
A: A/C works great. The HVAC blower was replaced shortly after I bought the car. No issues with the power steering pump that I am aware of. Rear shock towers are good. Previous owner had koni's installed on all 4 corners. Spare wheels are staggered. I will include all maintenance records that I have with the car. Previous owner gave me everything he had regarding maintenance records. Some of which goes back to the original owner. Plus I have some additional parts (OEM kidney grilles, taillights and turn signal lamps to name a few) and I will be including with the car. Stock wheels have tires, but the tires will need to be replaced before too long. Tires on BBS replicas are in good condition, only have about 10000 miles on them at the very most.
Q: Any issues with the car? How's the paint?Aug-09-14
A: Thanks for your interest in the car. Only issues regarding the car that I am aware of are some burned out pixels in the OBC (a typical issue with the OBC on the e36) and occasionally some speakers cut in and out. The original owner had an aftermarket radio installed in the trunk of car. I was told by the person I purchased the car from that he was a lawyer in Northern California and had a sound system installed for classical music... seemed strange in my book, but to each his own. I am a bit of a purist, so the first thing I did was have an audio shop in LA take it out of the trunk. Ever since then, the speaker wiring seems to have a bit of trouble from time to time. As for the paint it seems to be in great shape for a 1997. I had the car detail earlier this year and I was amazed at how good the car looked. On the front right corner near the fog lamp there is a spot where something must have popped up while driving and put a minor spot on the car. Aside from that nothing out of the ordinary other than what you would expect for a 1997. I go back and forth on even wanting to sell this car, but if I do I will probably get another e36 somewhere down the line. I had an e46 m3 prior to this one and although that is still my favorite body style of m3, I can say without question I have enjoyed driving this e36 much more. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

The 2016 Pebble Beach Concept Lawn was nuts as always

Mon, Aug 22 2016

The Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is like the smallest, most expensive car show you can imagine. A bunch of unobtanium concepts and almost-production models line an irregularly shaped putting green for people to stare at while on their way to see other, older insane cars. This year's crop was a particularly good one. We'll walk through the gallery above in order: That's a new Ford GT. Not quite a concept, but it's not in production yet, so we'll let it slide. Then there's the one-of-a-kind Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo that was recently bought by a Saudi Prince along with a matching Chiron. Next up is the Lamborghini Centenario Roadster, which was unveiled last week and is already sold out. This orange automobile is BMW's 2002 Hommage with its latest livery, a Jagermeister-themed affair called Turbomeister. This silver Infiniti, the Q80 Inspiration Concept, is an oldie but a goodie. It first appeared in Paris in 2014. The extremely long automobile after that is the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, which was unveiled in Monterey this year. The 6 in the name is because it's 6 meters, or about 18 feet, long. Most of that's the hood. Next we have the one-of-99 Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato coupe, which continues to be beautiful. After that is a Fisker Karma with a V8, the VLF Destino. Thank you, Bob Lutz. The black sedan you see after that is the Cadillac Escala Concept, which also made its debut in Monterey this year. Then we have a Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge. Not a concept, but exclusive enough to join the others. Next is the McLaren 570GT customized by MSO that arrived for Pebble 2016. It has special design touches plus an electrochromic panel to replace the normal glass roof. The light blue car is the Genesis New York concept. The name didn't change even though it was in Monterey. Then we have the large and in charge Lincoln Navigator concept, taking up two regulation concept spots. The red car with suicide doors is Acura's Precision Concept, which we first saw at the Detroit show this year. Another non-concept, the Lexus LC 500h at least looks futuristic enough to be a show-specific car. And here's a 2017 Maserati Quattroporte, which is definitely not a concept. A Bentley Mulsanne EWB, because why not? It's not available in the US, so that almost qualifies for concept status. Then there's a reproduction Lister Knobbly, which we could stare at all day.

Preserving automotive history costs big bucks

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

$1.8 million is spent each year to maintain GM's fleet of 600 production and concept cars.
When at least two of the Detroit Three were on the verge of death a few years back, one of the tough questions that was asked of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler execs - outside of why execs were still taking private planes to meetings - was why each company maintained huge archives of old production and concept vehicles. GM, for example, had an 1,100-vehicle collection when talk of a federal bailout began.

BMW 2 Series to wear 230i, M240i nameplates

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

BMW might not be done tweaking its naming scheme quite yet. Of course, at this point, the jumble of numbers on the back of the Bavarian models has no connection to what's under the hood. So there's not much reason to stop changing the monikers now.
As Autoblog reported a few months ago, BMW is slotting upgraded, turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines called the B48 and B58, respectively, into the 3 and 4 Series. If this happens, the 328i/428i would become the 330i/430i, and the 335i/435i would turn into the 340i/440i.
Obviously, this change hasn't happened yet, but the same member of 2Addicts, a portion of the larger Bimmerpost community has now claimed that the 228i and M235i would get the same treatment. They would become the 230i and M240i, respectively, with the new engines.
