This race car was built by Treehouse racing in Tennessee and originally campaigned in BMW CCA and PBOC. At the time it had a Euro S50B32 engine. I bought the car last year and completed a S54 engine swap from a 2003 BMW M3. It makes 292 RWHP (345hp flywheel)on a Dynojet (2 weeks ago) with a stock tune. More power is available with an Epic Tune. Here is a summary of the parts:
1995 e36 m3 chassis with a full 1.75x0.95 DOM cage, NASA/BMWCCA legal, painted body color. Nascar bars drivers and passenger side
2003 e46 m3 engine with new water pump, thermostat, VAC rod bearings and ARP rod bolts, pulleys, intake, welded oil pump nut.
Runs on factory ECU with stock tune and 8000rpm redline
Blanton Performance Gearing 3.64:1 differential with diff cooler
Ground Control full coilovers with Koni SPGC shocks
X-brace
Ground control camber plates and rear toe adjustment arms
Powerflex black subframe / trailing arm bushings
JB racing flywheel with 6 puck clutch, sachs pressure plate
e36 5 speed transmission
3.5" exhaust with header, borla muffler, and resonator
e36 m3 ltw euro rotors, bronze bushings in calipers, SS lines, hawk ht14 pads F/R
bimmerworld dual fuel pump
aluminum radiator
electric fan
Momo steering wheel with quick disconnect hub
18" BBS RK wheels
Sparco EVO passenger seat
MA Shaw LTW rear wing
Vorshlag motor and Trans mounts
Current belts (10/2010)
2012 Recaro SPG XL drivers seat ( I also have another 03 Evo that could be swapped in place)
Approximate weight 2750
Great paint and super straight body
The M3 runs outstanding and fires up instantly. I ran two days in the car last year at Atlanta Motorsports Park and Barber. I have video from another car for the AMP day and also have video from the dyno.
My plan was the run this car in the NASA GTS series. However, the closest track (Road Atlanta) is 5 hours away and I just do not have the time with my business and young kids. Feel free to email or call with questions. Porsche 911/Cayman and Nissan GTR trades considers. Thanks for your interest. 615-3oo three nine 88

Here's what else you could buy for the average new-car price of $40,573
Fri, Jan 22 2021Autoblog may receive a share from purchases made via links on this page. Pricing and availability are subject to change. The average price of a new car in America hit a new record in December 2020: $40,573. Not that we're surprised — the average has been over $35,000 for the past few years — but seeing that baseline figure crest 40 large is still a sticker-shock to the system. So, as we do every once in a while, we put our collective heads together and came up with a list of alternatives that you could choose to buy for that sum, new or old, classic or practical. Now, let's be crystal clear about one thing here. We're not actually recommending you make this type of decision. That said, we wouldn't blame you if you did. Managing Editor Greg Rasa: $40,000 will buy a fully loaded Camry or moderately equipped crossover. Or, for $39,997, to be exact, one could go motoring in a fine British automobile. This 2006 Aston Martin DB9 Volante in Alabama has 21,452 miles on it, and depreciation has worked its cruel magic: It is listed for less than one-quarter of its $168,000 starting MSRP when it was new. A check of other used DB9s nationwide indicates this is a fair price. This Aston's CarFax reveals two owners. (One, really, as the second was a dealership. Looks like it got traded in for a Porsche.) If you're understandably concerned about reliability, its service history indicates no surprises to date. Remember, it has a 450-horsepower 5.9-liter V12. And spring is coming. Of course a used Aston Martin is riskier than a new Camry. But as Louis Prima sang, "Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think." What price beauty? Less than $40 grand. Associate Editor Byron Hurd: This price point opens up a ton of options in the "nearly new" luxury space, including a few good enthusiast picks, but my nod here goes to the Cadillac ATS-V. The discontinued, M3/M4-rivaling, 465-horsepower sport sedan and coupe can be had all day long in this price range with low miles. In fact, the real challenge is finding one in the spec you want, since it's one of those old-fashioned cars that actually presented the buyer with choices. Here's a clean, six-speed sedan in an actual color for less than our target price, for example. Coupes are more plentiful than sedans, especially in interesting colors, but there are plenty of them out there.
BMW mulled ten, eight, and six-cylinder engines for i8 before going hybrid
Wed, 09 Oct 2013There's little doubt that the 2015 BMW i8 is one of the most radical and groundbreaking performance cars this industry has seen in a long time. From its unique carbon-intensive construction to its 1.5-liter, three-cylinder and electric motor plug-in powertrain to its concept-car appearance, the flagbearer for BMW's new i venture challenges the very notion of what it takes to be a supercar.
Yet apparently the i8 almost didn't do that at all. Yes, it probably still would've had innovative assembly techniques, serious performance and come-hither bodywork, but according to a new report in the Telegraaf, it was very nearly a much more conventional beast, drawing its power from a V10 engine. According to the report, that line of development never got much beyond the drawing board, but BMW engineers then shifted their focus to both V8 and six-cylinder motivation, going so far as to build prototype cars. The higher cylinder-count engines were eventually dropped altogether after BMW decided to turn the i8 into a hybrid, with the six-cylinder reportedly nixed due to heat management and weight issues. In the end, of course, BMW went with the PHEV powertrain that offers a total system output of 362 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque - plenty of thrust for this lightweight, all-wheel drive coupe while still enabling an incredible 94 miles to the gallon on the EU cycle. Regardless of how it turned out, it's still fascinating to think that BMW didn't have a much firmer conceptual idea of what it was after when it started the i8's development.
Here at Autoblog, we're genuinely thrilled about this new generation of greener hybrid super- and hypercars, a movement spearheaded by the i8, Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1. But even so, our inner-gearheads can't help but wonder what might have been had BMW pursued a more conventional i8, either in place of, or in addition to, the car they did build. What do you think? Have your say in Comments.
2015 BMW M3 and M4 configurator launched, no lunch hour safe
Thu, 03 Apr 2014BMW has just made your lunch break a little more interesting by launching the configurators for the M3 and M4. Pricing and options for the new sports coupe and sedan was revealed just a few days ago, but it's always more fun to see the visual effect your personalizations have on the bottom line.
The M3 and M4 start at $62,000 and $64,200, respectively, without a $925 destination charge. However, as soon as the configurator is opened, both models default with metallic paint ($550) and the M Double-clutch Transmission ($2900), plus extended leather on the M3 ($950) and full leather on the M4 ($3,500). This is basically the way they were shown when displayed at auto shows. Of course, there's nothing preventing users from setting up these performance machines however they like.
So sit down at your desk with a cup of coffee or a sandwich and create your perfect German sport sedan or coupe. It's always fun to see how much money can be spent on a dream car.
