Backstory from the owner...

You are looking for the finest, best maintained BMW you can find.  You are here because the excellence found in your neck of the woods is a joke.  I know exactly how you feel.  I attend specialty and dealer-only auctions every week searching for the best of the best in what I like to call "niche autos."  I scan lists of over 3,000 vehicles locally each week and select cars I've come to know are hard to find and that fit my business model of marketing exclusively on eBay.  M series BMWs make the list whenever they show up but just a tiny fraction end up being worth my hard earned money.  I see dozens or more every year (25-years in the business/doing this online last 7 years) and what that means for you is; I have looked at, touched, smelled and walked away from a lot of Bimmers.  I am extremely picky and this convertible is one of a precious handful nice enough to justify the considerable efforts of me and my staff.  Past ownership, service history and condition, condition, condition are what matters.  High performance vehicles are not always treated well, but a precious few are taken care of and given proper respect.  Beautiful paint, spectacular interior, service history and an absolute knock-out to see in person - as good as these pictures are, they can't possibly convey the awesome visual impact this car has in real life.  What else could you want?  A great deal?  I have that covered too but you will not be purchasing this  automobile for wholesale or even low book value.  You already know you get what you pay for and if you want true excellence, service quality and exceptional condition, this 2000 BMW M Roadster represents an extremely rare opportunity.  Read everything, examine every picture in detail, see the amazing quality up close and personal and then make your call and give me an offer.  I promise, you will not be disappointed.

Doug - Viva Las Vegas Autos, Inc.

2000 BMW M Roadster with 76,950 softly driven miles and no accident history.  Fully serviced and wearing its original (beautiful) Cosmos Black paint, this sports car benchmark is in brilliant condition with a straight, undamaged body, showroom interior and near functional perfection.  Some M Roadster driver's indulge a secret sense of superiority when seeing other Z3s on the highway.  About 300,000 normal Z3s were sold worldwide from 1998 to 2002.  With North American S52/S54 powered cars totaling just 10,538, an M Roadster owner may experience mild-to-moderate euphoria upon seeing a "2.5" or "2.8" badge on the skinny fendered rump of lesser Z3s . . .

The shapely rear of your Roadster carries an "M" with fenders swelling seductively to accept a wider track and race-ready rubber.  This version Z3 is not BMW's answer to the cute little Miata.  This is serious performance DNA, the soul of what a sports car is supposed to be.  "Sporty handling" or "sports car-like style" may describe other 2-passenger convertibles but the M Roadster is a sports car. This carefully maintained gem starts instantly, steers and stops flawlessly and tracks smoothly at all speeds with no vibration or pulling . . .

Because it is a true sports car, it goes, stops and corners extremely well.  And because it is a performance car, all design considerations are secondary to explosive acceleration, powerful brakes and spine tingling handling.  That's what a fast car is supposed to do.  Tight panel gaps, sparkling lenses and trim and gorgeous paint . . .

The unapologetic nature of an M Roadster is an absolute thrill for both driver and passenger.  The tach spins up quick and the power comes on immediately and keeps on coming on in a steep rush all the way to redline.  The rare quality condition of this rare car (just 9,800 CK93s produced) can easily be seen here and is even more evident in person, standing next to the vehicle . . .

The M Roadster communicates precise road surface and vehicle dynamics information through each point of entry; ears, eyes, hands, fingertips, your body pressing against seat and bolster, all connecting driver to car.  Critical receptors accurately connect man, machine and macadam.  This car looks so crisp and nice, most folks will guess it years newer than it is . . .

How many "pocket rockets" are actually rockets?  The steering has weight but doesn't mask road surface feel.  The shifter connects your other hand to a heavenly 5-speed that dutifully passes along a fire hose of seamless power with short throws and buttery smooth engagements.  A predictable clutch, linear throttle and easily modulated brakes combine to create a harmonious dollop of wicked go-kart bedlam.  You can't drive the way you want all the time however and therein lies the real value of a cultured high performance vehicle.  Thrilling sports car capabilities in a dependable package that can breeze up a summer night's canyon road as comfortably as it inhales vast stretches of interstate.  The shared experience in a swift convertible is a catharsis of sorts.  The person next to you becomes immediately more attractive with the top down.  BMW didn't build many of these and top quality examples like this are nearly impossible to find.  With low mileage, superb maintenance and exquisite condition, it will definitely be a seller's market . . .

This little rocket is my current driver and I've formed a bond with it unlike just about any car in recent memory.  At just 3,000 lbs., the ferocious 3.2 liter inline six delivers blistering acceleration.  Responses to steering and braking inputs are instantaneous, throttle response is immediate and nothing happens at road surface that isn't communicated with piercing accuracy through fingers, feet and seat of the pants.  This is a driver's car first and always.  Everything else is secondary but the M Roadster is an easy performance car to live with.  A surprise thundershower (above left) last week had me racing ahead to the next overpass to put the top up.  A single button push accomplishes this in less than 10-seconds with no fuss, latching easily from the driver's seat.  And, it was love at first sight for my wife.  Date night last Friday began with a trip to the cemetery (right) before some great food containing a politically incorrect quantity of grease.  A summer night's drive concluded with a sugar load stopover at Dairy Queen. (one Blizzard each)  Like awesome food and a willing mate, the M Roadster makes perfect sense.

                                                 -Foy

This is where fun happens.  And here is where serious driving takes place.  All the tools of a professional are here too, helping you get the job done.  This is also where beautiful music comes from a harman/kardon sound system, complete with 6-disc CD changer.  There's also two front air bags and side air bags . . .

Think your wife (or whatever) will look good in here?  She (or whatever) gets a power seat too.  Air conditioning, cruise control, leather, power windows/mirrors/locks and heated seats . . .

3.2 Liter DOHC Inline 6-Cylinder Engine  (S52)

240 horsepower @ 6,000/236 ft-lb torque @ 3,800 RPM

How do they do it?  An M engine benefits from special attention above BMW's already high standards.  Not merely bigger and more powerful, the S52 features retuned 2 stage VANOS variable valve timing for greater high RPM power, better balanced camshafts, and a ported and polished cylinder head with heavy duty valve springs.  With a smoother intake and freer flowing exhaust it all combines to make this power plant much greater than the sum of its parts.  BMW builds this precision instrument in Munich then ships the entire drive train to Spartanburg, South Carolina for careful installation in a wide body Z3 where it becomes an Roadster . . .

Clean, dry and beautiful, like a brand new car . . .

Real dual exhaust and a factory new undercarriage . . .

It all began in a James Bond film with Pierce Brosnan famously driving a little BMW no one had ever seen.  At product launch the Z3 could be ordered from the Nieman Marcus Christmas catalog.  The original 4-cylinder Z3 is as much like the M Roadster as a mud puddle is to the Pacific Ocean.  Z3s are cute.  M Roadsters are ferocious.

A note from the owner.

I am a “used car dealer” but before that, I’m an automobile enthusiast.  I love original rare and high quality modified vintage cars and over the past decade I’ve been in business, have come to appreciate an expanding selection of high-demand, high value vehicles.  I specialize in and am always on the lookout for cars and trucks that were cherished by their previous owners.  I have an experienced eye for quality but I’ve discovered that my preferred buyer can instantly discern such a vehicle and I have therefore, built my business and reputation around finding these kinds of cars for this type of customer.  Super low miles and/or gentle ownership are strict requirements but a car must do something for me on a personal level if there is any hope of convincing you, the bidder, that this is an above average, exceptional vehicle.  If nothing about the car excites me, it probably won’t do much for you either and I would soon be out of business.

With just four employees and no sales people, I realize how unusual a “dealership” like mine may at first glance appear.  It has taken great care and effort to create such an organization and often, an unusually high investment in a particular car we are about to list.  To sell the best it is critical to have a trusted expert in my corner and Chris, owner of A-Best Auto Repair in Henderson, Nevada has my back.  He and his crew can fix anything; from a low budget beater to the absolute most expensive exotic you can name, no job is too big and no small detail unimportant.  They do an exhaustive 130 point inspection on each and every vehicle and nothing escapes their methodical investigation.  Experience has shown that everything I spend making a car truly “right” will come back to me not only with a higher selling price, but a happy customer that says good things about me.  Moreover; it allows my writer to describe the car with ease and confidence, something that simply is not possible unless he thinks it is true.  If major issues are found or the cost of fixing the car the way it should be makes it too expensive to sell, my choice is an easy one.  I simply absorb a few hundred dollars loss for my trouble and sell it at auction.

After the vehicle is fully sorted it arrives at our facility where it encounters the suspicious eye of Tom, my writer that creates the presentations you see on eBay.  He believes absolutely nothing I or anyone else tells him about the car as he combs over every inch, researches its history and documents originality and authenticity.  Historical significance, rarity, special features, possible modifications and much more are used to accurately describe the vehicle with integrity and honesty.  Most important for the potential buyer are the 100 to 150 high resolution pictures that I take myself.  The pricey equipment I use would be right at home in the hands of the very best professional photographers and I’ve developed a logical format that walks you around the entire vehicle with close-up shots of every square inch.  I provide detailed views of the interior, under the hood and then put it on a lift to show the undercarriage and confirm that the beauty of the car you are considering is not merely skin deep.  Even our detailers are enthusiastic about the cars they so meticulously clean.  This reconditioning can sometimes take several days and I’ve converted a paint booth, especially prepared for the professional clay bar and polishing each car lovingly receives.

Usually, I’ll also include a high definition video that shows the car doing its thing.  If it’s a fast car, we film it going fast.  If it’s a 4x4 you’ll see it crawling up a hill.  In every case you will hear things like a rumbling exhaust, working sound system and watch the temperature fall on a digital, laser thermometer pointed at an air conditioning vent.  How many “dealers” will video a Lotus Esprit doing a buck-eighty?  We do.

No “dealer,” on-line or in the real world, takes it to this level.  No other seller or organization provides you, the buyer, with so much information.  I do this because it is the only way I can convince a person; often a world away, unable to touch or feel their purchase, that my vehicle is for real and what I say is the truth.  All the above is necessary for me to stay in business while keeping integrity intact.  I want every buyer to be happy and I need glowing feedback on eBay.  To accomplish that I need satisfied customers that are as thrilled with their purchase as I was when I bought it.

If you have any questions at all, please call me on my cell at: 702-353-7500.  If your inquiry is sincere and your offer  serious, you’ll find me the most accommodating business partner you’ve ever dealt with.  If you call or e-mail asking for my reserve or “what is my bottom line” I will be looking for ways to politely end the conversation.  Until you are ready to actually pull the trigger, I will happily quote you the absolute highest nationally advertised suggested retail price I can find – a number we both know will not buy the car so, don’t waste your time, or mine.  I am after all, a “used car dealer.”

Serious buyers know the maximum they can offer.  I then must simply decide if I can sell for that number.

If you hit the reserve, the decision is no longer mine.  I must sell at that number.

Vorsteiner BMW M4 GTRS4 shows how to do a widebody at SEMA

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Part of the joy of the SEMA Show is that all of the best tuners in the world are competing to show off their wares, and the challenge often pushes the companies into some absolutely insane directions. Case in point: Vorsteiner and its ludicrous GTRS4 wide body kit with the BMW M4.
According to Auto Evolution, the kit reportedly adds 4 inches in the front to fit 10.5-inch-wide wheels and a massive 7-inches more in the rear to snug in 13.5-inch-wide wheels, but spinning around the BMW in these images makes the changes look even more extreme. Beyond just the extra room in the fenders, the lower air intakes are ready to suck in huge volumes of cool air, and there's a front splitter to keep things planted. The front and rear extensions are joined by side sills that grow the farther back they go. Finally, at the rear, the M4 gets a reworked diffuser with mesh inserts.
This is just the type of automotive craziness that makes SEMA interesting. Take a lot at it for yourself in the gallery.

First BMW i8 in US sells for $825,000

Mon, Aug 18 2014

Here are some numbers. The standard BMW i8 starts at starts at $135,700. The first i8 in the US was auctioned off at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance this past weekend and the auctioneers, Gooding & Company, said before the gavel was lifted the fist time that they expected the i8 with unique Frozen Grey Metallic and other upgrades to raise between $150,000 and $200,000 for the Pebble Beach Company Foundation. Turns out, the car eventually sold for $825,000 to an unnamed buyer. Along with the honor of having the first i8 on these shores, the special plug-in hybrid comes with Dalbergia Brown leather upholstery, a set of Louis Vuitton luggage and something called a "professional edition" charging station along with laser headlights (subject to regulator approval). A number of other i8s were delivered to a few wealthy car shoppers who managed to make their way to Pebble Beach over the weekend, including automotive guru Roger Penske and Nest CEO Tony Fadell. The special edition was presented at the auction by Jay Leno and BMW North America president and CEO, Ludwig Willisch. You can't put a price on that. Just kidding. You can, and it's apparently $825,000.

Drive like a prince: Join us for a walk through Monaco's car collection

Fri, Dec 29 2023

Small, crowded, and a royal pain in the trunk lid to drive into during rush hour, Monaco sounds like an improbable location for a huge car museum. And yet, this tiny city-state has been closely linked to car culture for over a century. It hosts two major racing events every year, many of its residents would qualify for a frequent shopper card if Rolls-Royce issued one, and Prince Rainier III began assembling a collection of cars in the late 1950s. He opened his collection to the public in 1993 and the museum quickly turned into a popular tourist attraction. The collection continued to grow after his death in April 2005; it moved to a new facility located right on Hercules Port in July 2022. Monaco being Monaco, you'd expect to walk into a room full of the latest, shiniest, and most powerful supercars ever to shred a tire. That's not the case: while there is no shortage of high-horsepower machines, the first cars you see after paying ˆ10 (approximately $11) to get in are pre-war models. In that era, the template for the car as we know it in 2023 hadn't been created, so an eclectic assortment of expensive and dauntingly experimental machines roamed whatever roads were available to them. One is the Leyat Helica, which was built in France in 1921 with a 1.2-liter air-cooled flat-twin sourced from the world of aviation. Fittingly, the two-cylinder spun a massive, plane-like propeller. Government vehicles get a special spot in the museum. They range from a Cadillac Series 6700 with an amusing blend of period-correct French-market yellow headlights and massive fins to a 2011 Lexus LS 600h with a custom-made transparent roof panel that was built by Belgian coachbuilder Carat Duchatelet for Prince Albert II's wedding. Here's where it all gets a little weird: you've got a 1952 Austin FX3, a Ghia-bodied 1959 Fiat 500 Jolly, a 1960 BMW Isetta, and a 1971 Lotus Seven. That has to be someone's idea of a perfect four-car garage.  One of the most significant cars in the collection lurks in the far corner of the main hall, which is located a level below the entrance. At first glance, it's a kitted-out Renault 4CV with auxiliary lights, a racing number on the front end, and a period-correct registration number issued in the Bouches-du-Rhone department of France. It doesn't look all that different than the later, unmodified 4CV parked right next to it. Here's what's special about it: this is one of the small handful of Type 1063 models built by Renault for competition.
