Helm, California, United States
Re-listing because previous winner had a family emergency and change of time frame, so lucky new buyer! I've also added a few pictures under the hood. I'm selling my beautiful 1991 V-12 BMW 850i. I've owned the owned the car for nearly four years, but my work has kept me almost completely in New York and the car has been garaged. In the past four years, I've only put 3,500 miles on the car and maintained upkeep. It's time to pass the torch and let someone else enjoy this classic. I have all documents pertaining to the service that was performed to the vehicle. Clean title in hand. Clean Car Fax. Clean Inside. Regular oil changes, no accidents. Car has always been garaged or covered. Besides the BBS rims and an 500w Kenwood amplifier the car is stock. Average wear on the leather interior for a that's 20 yrs old. Check out the pictures, and I have more to send if requested. Currently insured and registered. All original owner's manuals. 3 sets of keys. Clifford Alarm System with two remotes. Thanks for your interest. •12 cylinder (V-12) •5.0 L •296 HP •100,020 miles •2 door coupe •premium wheels (BBS Rims) •automatic transmission • twelve-speaker stereo with cassette player and cd changer with amplifier •A/C, heated seats, sunroof, dark tinted glass •Always garaged, hand washed and hand waxed •pop-up head lamps *no smoking •I am the 3RD owner of this car. Work that I've done in the last 1000 miles: *two brand new ZR-18 tires *new water pump •new serpentine belts •new thermostat *new fan clutch *new fuel pump Work that needs to be done: Driver side door actuator Oil Leak in Timing Chain Tensioner Loose Front Suspension This is well on it's way to being an incredible car. It will continue to need love as any classic car does. Want to find it a good home. There aren't many cars from the early '90s that could compete with the 850 in terms of performance or style, and the 850 still looks contemporary. The long hood and short deck emphasize the big V12 under the hood, and with folding headlights, the shark-like profile definitely looks the part of the king of the street. With a cost approaching six figures in 1991, you got paint that was far beyond basic assembly line and it was definitely worth it, because this coupe still looks fantastic. The exterior is diamond black with gray leather. BMW's reputation for being performance-oriented doesn't come by accident, and the sporting buckets are both supportive and all-day comfortable, designed to hammer from Paris to Munich at triple-digit speeds. Everything was standard, including power seats, windows, and locks, climate control, a trip computer, and a powerful stereo that still impresses today, it's a joy to run it through the gears. Some more info about the BMW 850i: The 850i was a technological showcase, boasting cutting-edge luxury features such as remote keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, a power tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, a twelve-speaker stereo, and windows that automatically closed at high speeds. An active five-link rear suspension helped steer the 850i at the limit, and an early form of electronic stability control helped keep the big coupe on course. Under the hood, an aluminum-block, 5.0-liter V-12 used the industry's only drive-by-wire electronic throttles. BMW's familiar "twin-kidney" grille was installed, but the hidden headlamps was a feature never before seen on BMW models in the U.S . A new 8 Series cost around US$100,000. The BMW 850i coupe is truly something special, with a V12 engine producing some 300 hp and a top speed of 186 mph. The engine itself is barely audible. No roaring, no screaming, just a soft, pleasant hum. Its 296-horsepower, 5.0-liter V12 engine came from the 750iL, the new 850i was created with a more sporty character. But driving a BMW 850CSi is relaxing as in no other car. Updated BMW X6 spied running the 'Ring in Germany
Tue, 22 Oct 2013Following the debut of the X5 earlier this year, it shouldn't come as a shock that BMW is testing an updated X6 in its homeland. The Munich-based manufacturer trekked to the Nürburgring to test the lifted, four-door coupe it calls a Sports Activity Vehicle, while also giving us our first peak as to what the future holds for one of the weirder models in the brand's stable.
Mainly, we can safely expect the next X6 to get the same range of refinements made to its platform-mate, the X5, which debuted earlier this year. If we're lucky, that could mean an X6 sDrive35i, complete with rear-wheel drive with which to fling the big SAV about. Adding a rear-drive option could also broaden its admittedly limited appeal by lowering the cost of entry, which could serve the pricier X6 well. As a point of reference, the X5 sDrive35i is priced at $2,300 below an xDrive all-wheel-drive-equipped model.
The X6's top-flight xDrive50i model should get the same 45-horsepower bump as the X5 xDrive50i, thanks to refinements to its twin-turbocharged, 4.4-liter V8, while the 3.0-liter, turbocharged six-pot should remain unchanged. We wouldn't hold our breath for an X6 diesel to arrive, although weirder stuff has happened. Like the X5, though, this should be a pretty slim refit that improves an already competent package to go along with an expected increase in price.
BMW i3 gets tuner treatment from Eve.Ryn
Sat, Oct 11 2014The BMW i3, especially when wearing its Capparis White paint job, already looks a bit like some sort of futuristic escape pod launched to Earth from a spaceship. It was only a matter of time until the electric car got touched by the eager hands of a tuner to make it even more eye-popping. It is, after all, a BMW. Japanese tuner Garage Eve.Ryn appears to be the first to give the i3 the inevitable once over. The result is a much more aggressive-looking EV, called the i3 EVO. We say aggressive-looking, because we have no information to suggest that the makeover was anything but cosmetic. The i3 EVO has slightly exaggerated fender flares, which stand out with their strips of carbon fiber along the edge. The redesigned front bumper looks like it could have been fashioned out of Star Wars stormtrooper armor, complete with fake air intakes and, of course, a helping of carbon. The rear end gets a diffuser, too. The large wheels feature blue accents, which help to highlight the Ice Blue bits already on the vehicle. For a closer look, check out the i3 EVO photos in the gallery and there are more like it on Eve.Ryn's Facebook page, in galleries here, here and here, as well as a more recent set of images showing the car emblazoned with Energy Motor Sport (a company that appears closely related to Eve.Ryn, on the distribution end) decals on the sides. There's no telling what the body kit does for the aerodynamics of the car, but it would be interesting to find out what effect Eve.Ryn's handiwork has on the i3's range. Either way, this surely won't be the last time a tuner finds a way to reimagine the BMW i3, so, love it or hate it, you might as well get used to it.
What happens when you take an engineer sliding in a BMW i8
Fri, Sep 19 2014The BMW i8 is a pretty impressive car, and a highly visible one at that. It's a great brand ambassador, but not just for BMW. It's really no surprise that Formula E chose it as the safety car from the electric racing series. And, for its duties at tracks around the word, the i8 safety car got some slick upgrades, including wireless charging capabilities courtesy of Qualcomm. It's not your regular, cut-and-dry technology presentation. In the video below, Qualcomm engineers explain a little bit about what they do to enhance electric vehicles. But it's not your regular, cut-and-dry technology presentation. The engineers are forced to answer questions about Qualcomm's technology while riding along in the BMW i8 Qualcomm Safety Car driven by none other than Formula E driver Nelson Piquet, Jr. Sure, riding shotgun for hot laps at Donnington Park in an i8 sounds like a lot of fun, but these guys have a job to do, and Mr. Piquet isn't making it easy for them. The Qualcomm guys talk about taking technology and beefing it up for automotive use, explain the benefits of wireless charging and discuss some other stuff that's hard to pay attention to while watching the i8 get totally sideways in a smoky powerslide. See for yourself in the video below. If you miss something, don't worry; Qualcomm provides more explanation about its automotive technologies at its website, including safety, communication and, of course, inductive charging.
