Free maintenance by BMW until 50,000 miles or 4 years. I've never owned a car that received so many stares or so many compliments! That has been almost as much fun as driving the Z4! I've had more than one person tell me it is the most beautiful BMW they have ever seen. I truly hate to sell it. However, just the other day a 3" scratch on the front passenger side bumper (see photo) occurred and I realized I do not need the added stress of being obsessed with keeping this car perfect. I am selling it and getting something that I will covet less and that I can see allowing my daughter to drive. I'm told it is about $500 to fix it the scratch on the bumper at a great local body shop we have used for our Mercedes and our VW in the past, but I thought the new owner might prefer to choose who makes the minor repair. I've priced the car according to the "very good" condition instead of "excellent" because of the scratch. The Orion Silver, which is not silver at all, but a rich, classic color that has more of a gold tone, is the color BMW used to launch this new Z4 body style in the BMW advertising campaign. There is no wonder why they chose it. It is a beautiful color and it is rare to find one at least in my area where black, red and white are so common they are boring. This color really shows off the lines of the Z4 like no other! I believe the Z4 in this color is destined to become a classic. It is as elegant as a luxury roadster can get. Regularly serviced by my BMW dealer, this car has never given me any trouble and remains under warranty. I've been impressed with the MPG both in town and on the highway. The leather interior upholstery is Beige with the dash and trim pieces are made of ash wood ($500). Options include the Premium Package ($3900) which includes Leather upholstery, Auto-Dimming Exterior and Rear-view Mirrors, Dual Zone Automatic Climate Control, Eight Way Power Seats with Lumbar Adjustment, Driver's Seat Memory, Driver's Mirrors Memory, BMW Assist with Bluetooth, Universal Garage Door-Opener and Ambient Lighting. The Cold Weather Package($1,000) included heated seats, heated steering wheel, headlight washers, and a trunk pass-through. The SIRIUS Satellite Radio Tuner requires a subscription. Once you use the optional Keyless Start you will never go back to a regular key again. Dynamic Cruise Control is another added option. Enjoy the magnificent weather riding around with the top down in this stunning-looking and fun 2011 BMW Z4 convertible. Some things that come standard include interior air filter, cruise control, power retractable hardtop, heated power mirrors and rear window, power windows and locks, remote keyless entry, tilt/telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, rain-sensing wipers, AM/FM/CD stereo with HD radio, auxiliary input jack, trip computer, automatic adaptive bi-Xenon headlamps. The Z4 came with the standard run-flat tires, P225/45R17 on alloy wheels. I replaced the rear tires with Falken ZE912 tires. I am the 2nd owner having purchased it from an at least equally obsessive owner in December 2012. I have had it in FL and it has been garage kept the entire time I have owned it. I have all the records for the time I have owned it as well. When you see this very clean Z4, you will know why I pampered it from day 1. The folding hardtop offers the best of coupe and roadster forms. The BMW Z4 has the classic two-seat roadster look, but features a modern two-piece power retractable hardtop. The result is an elegant looking car that blends the sportiness of a coupe with the enjoyment of a convertible. Engine Information: 3.0L 255 HP at 6600 rpm and 220 pound-feet of torque at 2600 rpm, Dual Overhead Cam - DOHC Inline 24-Valve 6-Cylinder Engine - 6 Speed Sport Automatic with Shift Paddles on the steering wheel ($1,375) A $500 deposit is due immediately upon taking the Buy It Now option with the balance to be paid within 7 days. BMW 1 Series GT spied in 7-seat trim
Mon, 20 May 2013As BMW prepares to introduce its first-ever front-wheel drive car, the upcoming 1 Series GT, it looks like there will be at least two versions of the car. A conventional-looking hatchback was spotted testing late last year, but now we see an extended-length version in order to accommodate a third row of seats.
Judging by these spy shots, this 1 Series GT prototype has received an extended wheelbase, larger rear doors and more upright D-pillars compared to our previous spy shots (show in the gallery below) all with the aim of creating additional passenger and cargo space. Like the smaller 1 Series GT, this longer model would likely carry over the same powertrain options, which are expected to consist of three- and four-cylinder engines, a hybrid system and the choice of front- or all-wheel drive. The 1 Series GT could make its debut this fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but we might have to wait until next year to see the people mover.
BMW 02 Series mini-documentary makes us fall in love all over again
Sun, 24 Mar 2013BMW's current reputation of building Ultimate Driving Machines can be traced back through history all the way to 1966, when the German automaker introduced the world to its 1600-2 two-door at the Geneva Motor Show. The car's name was simplified in 1971 to BMW 1602, and it went on to spawn the 2002, one of the most famous BMW models of all time.
BMW looks back on its past successes in a video that you can see below. As the automaker itself says in the video description, "This series was extraordinarily successful in reinterpreting the concept of the sports saloon and played a major role in motor sport long after production had come to an end." The 2002 would be replaced in 1975 by another legendary model from BMW: the 3 Series.
We'd be lying if we said we didn't long for something along the lines of the classic 2002 from BMW today. Since that doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon, join us in remembering the cars that helped make BMW a household name by scrolling down below.
