for sale is my 2004 bmw z4 3.0 litre with sport package and sport button 6 spd. manual and bmw aero bumper.

this is THE best z4.

this car has every desirable option - the big ones:

3.0 litre m54 engine - check pics, it is CLEAN
6 spd. manual transmission
bmw sport springs
sport button (changes throttle mapping and steering response)
bmw aero bumper professionally color matched
steering wheel controls
bmw bluetooth and bmw assist (subscription required to activate assist.  bluetooth works without subscription)
heated seats
tasteful wheels with high performance all season tires - good tread
roll bar hoops are color-matched to the car color - i had this done professionally.  this is very rare.  they are usually a lighter silver color.

i am meticulous about my bmw's.  filter changes ONLY with Mann or Mahle filters (whoever is OEM) and only mobil 1 0w 40 (meets bmw longlife oil specs) but i change every 5k miles.

i have noted that there are a couple of blemishes on the car.  most people don't notice but again i am meticulous so i will call these out.  i also took pictures of the affected areas.  a couple of 2-3" scratches in the passenger side rear bumper which have touch up paint.  also 2 chips over drivers side rear wheel and 2-3 chips on drivers side fender.  which have all been touched up.  these were highlighted in the pictures loaded.

this is  a clean car.  this is one of the last years with REAL LEATHER seats and door panel inserts. i owned a 2006 as well and i can tell you that the 2004 is faster (more HP), lighter (by 15 lbs. or so) and with the more refined M54 engine, this 2004 is way more fun.  also, with the bmw aero front bumper, this car COMMONLY gets confused as NEW.  this is truly a timeless design.

i have the title in hand - this is a simple sale.  the car is in the back of my garage - come to see it rain or shine.

please do not hesitate to send or call with any questions.

Is BMW ready to increase i8 production?

Fri, Nov 21 2014

The BMW i8 plug-in hybrid is really fast. But the car is getting to customers really slowly. The German automaker might be doing something about that. Bimmer executive Ian Robertson, speaking with reports at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week, commented on the high demand for the super-PHEV and said the company may step up production in Germany, Automotive News Europe says. That's because the wait list for the i8 is approaching 18 months in some global markets. And Robertson would like to get that timeframe down to about six months. No details were disclosed about how fast the i8 is being produced or how much faster that production rate may get. The i8, which retails for about $135,000, started sales in Europe in June and in the US two months later. As for the smaller, slower i3 electric vehicle, BMW is making about 2,000 units a month, and wait lists are down to about four months. Part of the reason for that is because BMW shifted distribution rates for that model towards the US to meet higher-than-expected demand from stateside consumers and slow German sales. Through the end of October in the US, BMW had sold almost 4,300 i3 vehicles and 271 i8 models, including 204 i8 units last month alone.

BMW to offer carbon fiber wheels in a year or two

Sun, 23 Feb 2014

The Citroën SM sat on the first set of production glass fiber and resin wheels in 1972 when parent company Michelin developed the exotic hoops in order to take the SM rallying. It wasn't until 2008 that we got the first all-carbon-fiber wheel for passenger cars in the form of a prototype model from Weds Sports in Japan that remained a prototype. Australian company Carbon Revolution followed that a year later with its CR-9 all-CF wheel, first introduced on the Shelby Ultimate Aero and now available for independent purchase for about $15,000 per set. BMW could be the first OEM to offer entire wheels in carbon fiber reinforced plastic in two years.
The wheels - either all-CFRP or using a CFRP rim and alloy spokes - were shown off during BMW's Innovation Days in Munich and are products of the development work done on its i-branded cars. The full-CFRP wheel is 35-percent lighter than a forged alloy wheel, the hybrid alloy and CFRP wheel is 25-percent lighter, making for a decent drop in unsprung rotating weight. As demonstrators during a tech day the wheels aren't yet in the pipeline for production and EU approval, but an article in Auto Express claims that they could be on the market as soon as two years from now.
Other possible parts include a full carbon fiber steering wheel and propeller shaft, the latter of which is coming as a single-piece component on the new M3 and M4. BMW is also talking up its use of secondary carbon fiber - waste material from i3 and i8 production - that can be used for items like IP support structures, seat frames and spare wheels in place of traditional metals like aluminum and magnesium. There's an excerpt of the Innovation Day press release below with more details.

She's just a girl... who's an E28 fanatic

Tue, 02 Apr 2013

Ashley Rodriguez has a thing for the BMW E28. The amateur train photographer has owned over 15 of the cars in her brief lifetime, and says she's attracted to the old 5 Series because of how rare they are. All told, she's owned every variation of the E28 with the exception of the 2.4td, and the crew from Petrolicious recently stopped by to train their lenses on her most recent acquisition: a lovely M535i. The site's latest video, Rare Things, takes a closer look at just what draws Rodriguez to the E28 and how her passion for the cars has evolved over the years.
As usual, Petrolicious serves up plenty of gorgeous footage of the vintage German sedan, and anyone who's ever harbored an obsession over any one particular model can certainly hear a few chords ring true in Rodriguez's words. Check out the clip below to see what we mean.
