1998 Bmw Z3 Roadster Convertible W/hardtop - Only 88k Miles! Automatic on 2040-cars
Dripping Springs, Texas, United States
I purchased from the original owner in 2013 and the following have been performed by me since:
- New head gasket - Head professionally machined by a local machine shop - New radiator, hoses, & plastic thermostat housing and rear plastic coolant 90 (a must for any BMW this age) - New spark plugs About the car: I purchased the car in 2013 from the original owner (a school teacher). The car had just been repainted a few months prior to my purchase. After doing so, they had the head gasket issue and did not want to invest more money in repairs. The car was purchased new at BMW of Austin. The interior is in good condition and I just ordered a brand new set of floor mats from BMW. The driver seat has some wear on the leather and the passenger seat is in very good condition. Tires are Michelin and in good amount of tread left on all. Features: - Keyless entry/alarm with BOTH factory keys and BOTH remotes - Optional computer display for average MPG, MPH, fuel range, etc. - Power seats, cruise, windows - CD changer in trunk and cassette player in day - FACTORY HARDTOP - valued at $2,500 to $3,000 from recent eBay sales INCLUDED Minor issues/notes: - As with many BMW's of this age, the odometer backlight is dim and it is hard to read the odometer reading in full sun, but it is fully functional and readable. - The back window in the convertible soft top has been removed and would need to be replaced if desired. I have included a new piece of convertible top clear plastic that can be used for this. I was quoted $500 from one upholstery shop owner to take the top off and sew in the clear vinyl. The cloth of the top is in good condition. Personally - If I drive with the top down it is only for a day or afternoon and then I put the hardtop back on. I am open to trades of equal or lesser value. If less, you will have to come up with the difference in cash. I am not interested in junk, but would consider a project vehicle. Call or email with questions. NO CALLS AFTER 9 PM please. |

BMW i Collection puts upscale treehugging in the palm of your hand
Sun, 22 Sep 2013If BMW's new i sub-brand sounds more like it belongs to consumer electronics than it does to automobiles, that's probably no mistake. After all, electric vehicles bridge the gap between conventional automobile and electronic gadget - just ask our compatriots over at Engadget that report on them all the time. But to drive the point home even greener, BMW has, together with the new i3, launched a new collection of electronics accessories that make the Bavarian automaker as much a competitor with companies like Belkin or Griffin as it is with Audi or Mercedes-Benz.
The new BMW i Collection includes items like a solar charger for phones and MP3 players, a laptop bag made from felt-like recycled PET plastic and vegetable-tanned leather, and of course the requisite USB dongle. Other items include keyfobs, a shopping bag, notebook and ballpoint pen.
All the items, of course, are designed to extend the i3's upscale tree-hugging image to items you can hold and use while your EV is charging in the driveway. They go on sale starting next month with prices ranging from 15 euros ($20) for the pen or lanyard to 99 euros ($135) for the shopping bag. Details in the press release below and images of the whole collection in the gallery above.
BMW sees shortage of crossovers in the United States
Tue, May 19 2015BMW of North America CEO Ludwig Willisch is anxious to get the Bavarian brand's $1-billion upgrade at the Spartanburg, SC, factory done because the automaker can't keep up with demand for its crossovers. The expansion should boost total capacity there to 450,000 units a year and support production of the upcoming X7. Still, Willisch would love to have more crossovers as soon as possible. "That is a constant battle now, to get more X3s and X5s," he said in an interview about the company's future in North America to Automotive News. If they the supply were available, Willisch predicts he could sell at least another 10,000 of the CUVs. Willisch sees getting the X7 on the market as a big win for the brand, too. "We were able to convince the company that this is exactly what we need in the United States," he said to Automotive News. However, there is a bit of a wait. The model rides on BMW's next-gen platform, and is at least two years away from challenging the Land Rover Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz's renamed GLS-Class (previously the GL-Class). The fullsize CUV reportedly shares development with Rolls-Royce and might offer the best interior of any model bearing the blue and white roundel. The boss also talked about other future product plans for this continent. For example, Willisch reiterated BMW will not bring the 2 Series hatchbacks here, citing a lack of a market for them. There will be plenty more plug-in hybrids available at dealers, though. Due to "legal requirements" and popularity, Willlisch says PHEV versions will be offered throughout the lineup by 2017. Although, the i sub-brand will stick with the i3 and i8 through that time.
BMW X4 slantback is nearly here
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Another day, another new BMW spied. Sometimes it feels like Bimmer is developing so many new models that in the future, every buyer will get their own unique car. The latest one spied is the upcoming BMW X4 that was launched as a concept nearly a year ago. The Bavarians still see a need to camouflage the rear end of its prototypes, though.
As you can see, the production version is hewing very closely to the concept. If you peer around the camo, the headlights have the same shape, but the foglights are a new addition. The rear roofline seems quite similar to concept, too, but the back end is still somewhat more mysterious because the masking and dirt hide a lot. Still, it doesn't seem like the production model is going to be radically different from the concept based on the previous test cars we spied in the past. It also strikes us as very similar in size and form to the already available 3 Series Gran Turismo, with which it is expected to share a great deal.
Our wait might not be very long to see the midsize German CUV undisguised, because the X4's debut is rumored for the New York Auto Show on April 16 with a reveal as early as March 14.
