Here is a fun car that could use alittle TLC!!

This is my 1997 BMW Z3 Roadster.  In need of some TLC. first with the GOOD: Motor runs strong, no smoke or valve noise or piston slap, was serviced EVERY 3000 miles, religiously (video of engine running) and still gets 30MPG!!  Transmission is perfect, no slipping or noises. REAR - no rear noise. BODY - no rust, no bad dents except for 1 up front next to the D/S grille, typical road rash on the roackers, not bad though.  hood has some stone chipping, again, not bad. INTERIOR - decent, all gauges work, the "airbag" light is on, i had the seats reworked ( the typical seat slap back and forth) never had that cleared out, non issue.

THE BAD - PAINT - Clear coat is coming off the paint, car needs paint job for sure. INTERIOR - the only issue is that the drivers seat needs restitching, carpet needs deep clean. Center console, all the clear plastic chipped off, re stained and polyurethane, actually looks really nice!!  Rear storage cover missing. All 4 tires need replace for inspection, plus needs front brakes and rotors, the rims are starting to get pitted. Top needs to be replaced (rear window leaks at the seams)

Speakers and amp in the trunk NOT INCLUDED. Has Great stereo up front, all speakers 1 year old.

This is a luiggage rack car, i still have the rack and the leather straps.

This would make a great custom car, just like Fast and Furious!!

This is the BMW Z4 GTE that will wear the Roundel in ALMS

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

The Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway are a month of racing and reveals, with the season's metal going for the flag at races like the Rolex 24 at Daytona and other cars being introduced to the public. In the latter category is the BMW Z4 GTE (click the image above to enlarge) joining the American Le Mans Series GT class this year with BMW Team RLL (Rahal, Letterman and Lanigan). This machine replaces the M3 GT that completed four years of service and won the class title in 2010 and 2011. Naturally, the team is tempering expectations for the Z4 GTE by repeating the fact that it sees this season as a development year.
BMW Team RLL drivers for its two cars will be Bill Auberlen and series rookie Maxime Martin in the No. 55, aided by Jörg Müller for the endurance races at Sebring and Road Atlanta. The No. 56 car gets Dirk Müller on a full-time basis, Joey Hand when he's not competing in the DTM series, and John Edwards when Hand isn't available. Uwe Alzen will help out with driving duties in the No. 56 at endurance races.

BMW M5 turns 30, celebrates sideways

Sun, 13 Apr 2014

BMW has a secret, and it's not telling. The brand's M Power blog is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the M5 and is taking a look back at previous models of its Autobahn-storming sedan, but it says that it will end "with a surprise." The celebration kicks off with a short video showing the latest M5 making some smoky donuts.
The original M5 debuted in 1985 and was the company's most expensive model at the time. Still, it packed a 3.5-liter six-cylinder generating a claimed 282 horsepower (286 PS), which was rather potent in its day. The company touted it as the world's fastest production four-door sports sedan at the time.
BMW won't reveal the surprise until it has chronicled all five generations of the M5, but it wouldn't be shocking to see an anniversary edition model appear sometime later this year. Scroll down to check out the video of the muscle sedan celebrating its birthday the only way it knows how.

Foreign automakers pay from $38 to $65 per hour to non-union workers

Sun, Mar 29 2015

As leaders for the United Auto Workers gather in Detroit for their Special Convention on Collective Bargaining to work out the negotiating stance for this year's new labor agreements with the Detroit 3 automakers, what they most want to do is figure out how to eliminate the two-tier wage scale. However, the lower Tier 2 wage has allowed the domestic automakers to reduce their labor costs, hire more workers, and compete better with their import competition. As it stands, per-hour labor rates including benefits are $58 at General Motors, $57 at Ford, and $48 at Fiat-Chrysler – a reflection of FCA's much greater number of Tier 2 workers. The Center for Automotive Research released a study of labor rates (including benefits) that put numbers to what the imports pay: Mercedes-Benz pays the most, at an average of $65 per hour, Volkswagen pays the least, at $38 per hour, and BMW is just a hair above that at $39 per hour. Among the Detroit competitors, Honda workers earn an average of $49 per hour, at Toyota it's $48 per hour, Nissan is $42 per hour, and Hyundai-Kia pays $41 per hour. The lower import wages are aided by their greater use of temporary workers compared to the domestics. Automotive News says the ten-dollar gap between those foreign camakers and the domestics turns out to about an extra $250 per car in labor, which adds up quickly when you're pumping out many millions of cars. That $250-per-car number is one that, come negotiating time, the Detroit 3 will want to reduce, as the UAW is trying to raise both Tier 1 and Tier 2 wages. Another wrinkle is that the domestic carmakers are considering the wide adoption of a third wage level lower than Tier 2. Some workers who do minor tasks like assembling parts trays kits and battery packs already make less than Tier 2, but the UAW will be quite wary about cementing yet another wage scale at the bottom of the system while it's trying to fight a bigger battle at the top.
