this car is being sold with a salvage title. It is a flood damaged car. It runs and drives. The power seats don't work. The engine light is on and the air bag light is on. It has a small dent on the very front of the hood. This car would be salvage exempt in most states because of its age. But you will need to check with your local registry to see what is needed to register it in your state. Please look closely at the pics and ask questions. 508 865 7470. This is really a nice car with very low original well kept miles. The tires are like new.

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING

I strive to have satisfied Buyers and am providing important information below.  By bidding on my item, you acknowledge and agree as below.  (These statements will be repeated on the Bill of Sale, which must be signed by you before taking possession of the car.)

1.  This car is a salvage title and is sold “as is” with no warranties of any kind, either express or implied.  (Please be sure you understand what this means.  In the past, I have received negative feedback because a Buyer tried to save money by purchasing a vehicle with a fully-disclosed salvage title but did not understand what “salvage” actually meant.)   I normally do not take the cars apart.   I cannot predict  what problems could arise after purchase or what you will find if/when the car is taken apart.   I assume no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle or any incorrect assumptions made by Buyer.

2.  Consumer organizations recommend having an independent inspection of a used car before purchasing.  EBay usually provides a link for you to arrange such an inspection, regardless of where you live.

3.  This car is located in Massachusetts.  This sale shall be governed by and under the laws of Massachusetts.  Any dispute or action arising out of this sale must be brought and resolved in Massachusetts, and the parties agree that Massachusetts shall have personal jurisdiction over them and be the exclusive venue.

4.  Buyer is responsible for shipping/pick-up of the vehicle.  I can help to arrange shipping, but Buyer must pay all costs and enter the final arrangements with the shipper.  I cannot be held responsible for any damage or other problem associated with shipping.

5.  Winning Bidder must contact me within 24 hours of auction end and make arrangements for payment at that time.  If no contact is made within 24 hours, I reserve the right to relist the vehicle, sell it  to the next highest bidder or otherwise.  Full balance is due within 5 business days of auction end and signed Bill of Sale must be received before the car will be released.

6.  Any car not picked-up within 90 days after auction end will be subject to a $50 per day storage charge, unless I approve another arrangement in writing.

7.   Buyer’s electronic bid is a binding agreement.  Buyer intends to be bound by this agreement  and to pay for any item purchased.

10 automakers sued over keyless ignitions

Thu, Aug 27 2015

Keyless ignition has rapidly proliferated throughout the auto industry to become a fairly normal feature on new cars. It's supposed to offer the convenience of keeping the fob in your pocket and just pressing a button to drive away. However, ten major automakers are now being sued in US District Court over claims that the system is dangerous, Reuters reports. The suit alleges that people are forgetting to shut off the engine, and the lack of an idle timer is the cause for 13 deaths by carbon monoxide poisoning and multiple injuries. The suit currently includes 28 plaintiffs, according to Reuters, but the lawyers are asking for class-action status to potentially add many more. The case goes after a major swath of the industry, including BMW, Daimler, FCA, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen, plus their related brands like Acura, Infiniti, Mini, and Lexus. In all, over five million vehicles are affected. The assertion here is that people walk away from their vehicle without shutting it off because they believe the engine shuts off automatically. If parked in a garage, carbon monoxide can build up, leading to poisoning. The lawyers claim automakers know this is a problem and also cite 27 complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the issue, according to Reuters. The plaintiffs are asking for an automatic shut-off and damages from the companies. These concerns have come up before, though. Toyota previously faced a lawsuit over a carbon monoxide death after a woman accidentally left her Lexus running. Also earlier this year, GM recalled 64,186 examples of the 2011-2013 Chevrolet Volt because owners weren't shutting them off. The problem resulted in two injuries, and the company released a software update to limit the idling time.

Tesla, BMW and Nissan meeting in secret to discuss charging tech

Tue, Jun 17 2014

It's interesting what's happening in the electric vehicle field. It used to be that BMW and Tesla were competitors. Then – and of course they're still competing, especially in the public mind – they were working together on ... something. Maybe. And now, the Financial Times reports that the two luxury automakers are meeting with Nissan. Again, maybe. The scuttlebutt is that the three companies are interested in working together on something to do with charging electric vehicles, potentially a global recharging standard. Currently, when it comes to fast charging, BMW uses the SAE Combo standard, Nissan uses CHAdeMO and Tesla uses its own Superchargers. The meeting was prompted by Tesla opening of all of its patents the other day, FT says. Speaking during the recent annual shareholder meeting, Musk said he was "more than happy to have other manufacturers" use Tesla's Superchargers but that, "there is no other electric car that can accept anything close to 135 kilowatts." Let's assume the technical hurdle can be overcome. With any potential patent/licensing problems out of the way, these discussions with BMW and Nissan might be revolving around this other angle that Musk mentioned: "They (other automakers) just have to contribute to the capital cost, so figure out what percentage of the time are their cars using the Supercharger network and then they can make a contribution proportionate to their customer usage of the Supercharger network." That certainly sounds like something that could take some time to figure out. Forget about greenlighting it, BMW is already testing the M2

Thu, 08 May 2014

One week ago, we reported, with some skepticism, that BMW had greenlit a car we've been waiting for since the 1 Series M Coupe was discontinued - the M2. Now, we have the first images of that new hotshot underoing testing in Germany.
What's our reasoning here? After all, this just looks like an M235i. Well, that camo is disguising swollen fenders designed to conceal wider tires. Now, these aren't production changes, and it's very likely that the eventual M2's fenders will look quite a bit different. According to our spy, the front fenders have been borrowed from the M235i Racing, while the rears are from an unknown source.
Our spies are also quick to point out a few other high-performance items on this mule. The cross-drilled brakes and blue M calipers are one such item, although we aren't sure how much they differ from the optional stoppers on the production M235i. The black wheels are borrowed from the M3 and M4, and are shod in what look like a sticky set of Michelin tires.
