This beautiful 1996 BMW Z3 is in very, very nice condition. There are no dents or dings; only one or two very minor imperfections in the paint and the car presents itself very nicely. Looks nearly new.
56k original miles; top was new when I bought the car in 2008 and it has been garage-kept since then. I'm pretty sure it has always been garage-kept given the condition of the paint, but I can only report that it has been since I've owned the car. Car is not driven in snow or rain either. The interior is in very good condition and the car drives perfectly. In the past week, it has passed Maryland's rigorous vehicle emissions test and safety inspection needing nothing to pass either test. Original cassette radio was replaced with AM/FM/CD unit; this is the only modification from new. Also includes a top cover, complete tool kit, all keys and owner's manual. Color is dunklegreun (dark green) - a non-metallic color that looks great with tan interior. Buy with complete confidence that you can drive this car anywhere. 5 speed transmission makes this car fun to drive and delivers great fuel economy. BMW planning Chinese recall for engine part issue [w/video]
Mon, 17 Mar 2014After receiving an unspecified number of complaints in China, BMW has reportedly started a "full investigation" into what may be a defective part in its VANOS engine control system. BMW said via a Chinese blog that it would file a recall application with the the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in China.
BMW has not yet announced how many vehicles will be recalled, or which models the potential recall might cover. We're also curious as to whether the VANOS issue could extend into markets outside of China.

2014 BMW X5 recalled over faulty child-safety locks
Tue, 27 May 2014BMW is set to recall some 6,400 of its new-for-2014 X5 SUVs built between December 12, 2013 and March 10, 2014 due to concerns that the child safety locks, if set, might deactivate without warning. The problem affects only those vehicles with the automatic soft-closing option.
According to the bulletin issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the lock mechanism on the rear doors "may not have been manufactured to correct tolerances," meaning the safety locks could disengage with a simple pull of the door handle. Basically, with a pair of tugs, the rear doors could be opened from the inside, regardless of child safety locks.
BMW is in the process of notifying owners of affected vehicles. Any necessary repairs will be conducted free of charge. Take a look below for the official press release from NHTSA.
DC fast charging standard on 2015 BMW i3 EV
Mon, Dec 1 2014The BMW i3 is about to get a lot cooler. No, wait, a lot warmer. That's because there will a few new standard features in the i3 plug-in vehicles sold in the US, including seat heaters and satellite radio. Oh, and DC fast charging. The department head of BMW i USA, Jacob Harb, told BMW Blog that the company is, "now confident enough that in 2015 we will have the right infrastructure for DC fast charging, so it makes to include it standard in the MY2015." We can expect more details at the Detroit Auto Show in January and Harb told BMW Blog that, "you will be pleasantly surprised" by the announcement. There are a few other potential changes in store for the i3, including a configurable keyfob (like European i3 drivers get) and a heated steering wheel. It's unlikely that a sunroof or Lane Departure Warning will be offered, but Harb said BMW is always open to suggestions.
