For sale is a meticulously well maintained 2009 BMW X5 xDrive30i. It came from the factory with just about every option available: Premium Package, Technology Package, Sport Package, Cold Weather Package, etc.. Everything on the car is in perfect working condition, with the exception of one of the two right rear brake lights (went out last week and haven't gotten around to changing it) and the manual sun shade on the rear drivers side window (crack in the plastic support bar). Still handles and drives like new (it gets hand washed and detailed every Saturday morning, if the weather cooperates). Never smoked in (still has the new car smell), and never taken off-road. The windows have been tinted all the way around (20% rear, 35% front) and are covered under a lifetime warranty from the installer (can provide contact information after auction-end).
If you're in the market for a well maintained X5, I think you'll be hard-pressed to find a better deal. Edmunds.com values it at $29,465 Retail and $24,497 Trade-In (the Buy-It-Now is closer to current average black book values). I'm currently in the market for a new vehicle and considered trading this one in, but wanted to give an individual, rather than the dealer, a chance to get into it at well below market. Clear title (no accidents or fender benders), ready for a new home. As mentioned above, please keep in mind that the vehicle is used and no used vehicle is perfect, as such there may be signs of normal cosmetic and mechanical wear. BMW tests M Lap Timer App with M4 Coupe at Brands Hatch
Fri, 21 Mar 2014The 2015 BMW M4 looks to include all the necessary ingredients to offer dynamite driving experience. It's an M car after all. But in today's constantly connected world, the experience of hurtling a car around a track isn't always enough.
We want data, and while there are some solid telemetry apps available for smartphones (notably Harry's GPS LapTimer), manufacturers have been a bit slower to develop their own dedicated mobile telemetry trackers for their performance cars. With the new M4, though, BMW is taking the plunge, allowing drivers to track their lap progress through a new app, creatively called the M Lap Timer.
To show off the program, BMW has recruited touring car racer Andy Priaulx to perform a fast lap in an M4 at the UK's Brands Hatch circuit. The accompanying video doesn't do much to show off the app in action. Rather, it give us a stylized look at the metrics as Priaulx hustles BMW's hottest 4 Series coupe around the circuit.
Drifting can be dangerous for spectators, too
Fri, 02 May 2014Okay kids, here's your lesson for the day. When you go to a motorsports event (that isn't a rally), there are these things called walls. They're big and hard. There might be stacks of tires in front of them. There are also these things called barriers, catch fences and run-off areas. They exist to protect you, the spectator, when something inevitably goes wrong on the track.
If you don't have these things, you probably shouldn't be watching whatever four-wheeled mayhem is taking place. This gentleman learned that the hard way, after getting a bit too close while some hoon drifts his BMW 3 Series.
