2006 Bmw X5, Excellent Condition, Mechanic Cleared, Incl Extended Warranty on 2040-cars
Fairfax, Virginia, United States
I have LOTS more pictures, but I can only post 4 for free, and if I post a bunch and it doesn't sell . . I've just wasted more money. I am happy to send all 30 or so I have tho!
This beautiful car has just under 103,000 miles on it, which
is low considering how durable and long lasting these cars are! My Volvo is 13 yrs old and has over 253,000
miles on it! It is a speed automatic, AWD, 4.4 L, V8, 32V Valvetronic. It is black exterior with roof rack. I have
the Car Fax for it and it’s been well maintained, having regular oil changes
and inspections. Never been wrecked. It includes the extended warranty that covers an additional 100k miles or 5 years - will expire May 2019 or 202,780 miles, whichever comes first. Its features include A huge panoramic sun roof, which is one of my favorite things about it. Self-leveling rear axle w air springs Traction control Four wheel independent suspension Speed-sensing steering wheel Anti-theft, AM/FM stereo with CD & radio 10 speakers Radio data system 4-wheel disc brakes (which were just changed at about 82K miles) Electronic stability control (I must say it does feel like a very safe car) ABS brakes Brake assist Dual front impact airbags and side impact airbags as well Front anti-roll bar Low tire pressure warning Occupant sensing airbag Overhead airbag Panic alarm Rear anti-roll bar Reverse sensing system Security system Dakota leather upholstery Split folding rear seat Steering wheel memory Steering wheel also has audio controls Tilt steering wheel (and it moves up when you go to get out of the car) Trip computer Air conditioning (works REALLY Well), each passenger has their own temp control, too Front bucket seats Leather shift knob Tachometer Driver door bin – actually lots of really good storage space Vanity mirrors for front passengers, with lighting 18 x 8.5 double spoke alloy wheels Variably intermittent wipers Speed sensitive wipers High-intensity discharge headlights Spoiler Bodyside moldings Delayed headlights Front fog lights Fully automated headlights Heated door mirrors Power door mirrors Power trunk closing assist Rain sensing wipers Rear window wiper Roof rack – rails The back also lifts open with part of the tailgate still closed (see photo). This is great so things don’t shift and fall out the back when you open the back hatch after traveling.
Just passed inspection and emissions.
I was so excited when I bought this car because BMW is my all-time favorite car. It’s been a long and difficult 5 1/2 years after a divorce that left me as the sole support of our 2 kids, so getting this to replace my 13 yr old, 253K mile Volvo felt like a real accomplishment. Especially on the heels of earning my master’s degree just over a month ago. I am the 3rd owner of this car, I believe, and it originated in Hawaii! It then moved to NC before settling here in NoVA. It wasn’t really planned but more like something that fell into place, or so I thought. There was a light on the dashboard when I got it but my son and I thought it had to do with the 4x4 being disengaged . . until two more lights came on. I called the dealer and took it in, and a few days later they returned my vehicle with a new alternator. Being a little nervous, I took it to the mechanic I trust completely for a good once over, in case there were other lurking issues. He cleared it and, in fact, said it was a good car. He also told me it was a V8. Therein lies my problem. The salesperson at Pohanka told me it was a V8, AWD vehicle. After looking briefly at a sedan and this one, and from what I was told, this would get a little less gas mileage due to the AWD. I asked about this before we even test drove it, and the sales person looked it up on his phone right there in the parking lot to tell me the difference between AWD and a regular vehicle with only two wheels really doing the work. There was NO mention of it being an 8 cylinder. Since he initially said V6, I didn’t ask more about that. I simply cannot afford to keep a V8 car . . . . .despite having an advanced education, I’m still supporting my family on a lower income salary because, at the time of my divorce, I had been a stay-home mom for 10 years. I had to start all over. Had the sales person told me it was a V8, I would have kept looking. There are smaller engine SUVs out there. I used to own one until the ex took it, promised to bring it back and trade, but traded it in on a sporty model instead. It will sit in my parking lot until it sells and I will only use it when I need to take my kids to activities that are further out, because my Volvo has a transmission problem and it worries me to get stuck on the road somewhere, at some point. I bought an extended warranty for 5 yrs/ 100K miles that is included. It was the best policy by an A+ BBB rated company I could find after much research. I can put you in touch with the warranty people if you have questions about what it covers. There is a $100 deductible for each covered expense, but no limits or caps on covered items. This is great if you’re hauling a boat or a trailer, but it’s too much car for me. Even if I made twice as much and the gasoline wasn’t an issue, a V6 is all the more car I need. That’s what I will look for once I sell this to someone who can truly appreciate it.

2023 CES Editors' Picks
Mon, Jan 9 2023Over the past few years, it has become more and more clear that the Consumer Electronics Show is a car show. And this year that reality is more clear than ever. Not only did established automakers show off seriously important vehicles, but a traditional electronics company brought a car that gives an idea of its intents (with the help of establishment car company). With so many car reveals, we had to rank our favorites. Our picks for this show are entirely electric. Or at least, they are on paper, since many are concepts. Considering the name of the show, it would be a little strange if they weren't. In fact, not only are many of our favorites concepts, they all are save for one. See how they shook out below. VW ID7 camo View 28 Photos 5. Volkswagen ID.7 "The ID.7 definitely got lost in the crowd at CES. That it was camouflaged definitely didn't help, even if that camo was electroluminescent (BMW trumped it big time with its color-changing Dee). Nevertheless, this is a close-to-production hatchback-ed sedan, not unlike today's Arteon, with an extra-long wheelbase courtesy its EV architecture. It should be a solid answer to the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6, and even if people obviously prefer SUVs now, VW says there is still a market for sedans. I know I'd probably prefer one." –Senior Editor, West Coast and Reviews, James Riswick Peugeot Inception concept View 12 Photos 4. Peugeot Inception "It's not often that show debuts surprise us. While Peugeot teased the Inception ahead of CES, its unveiling seemed almost incidental. But just look at this thing; it's like an electric French Mustang with someplace important to be. I don't buy into the stupid 'It's not a wheel!' thing that Peugeot CEO Linda Jackson described as providing a video-game-like drive experience, but that bit of silliness aside, this is a really promising design study. Give us more of these and fewer tall boxes, please." –Associate Editor Byron Hurd Afeela prototype from Sony Honda Mobility View 11 Photos 3. Afeela by Sony Honda “Ever since Sony showed off an impressively put-together concept car at CES a few years ago, IÂ’ve been anticipating the companyÂ’s next move. Apparently, that next move is “Afeela.” No, I donÂ’t love the name. The specs from SonyÂ’s original concept car give me hope that this prototype sportback (itÂ’s a hatchback!) will be fun to drive, though.
Here's how Detroit is selling more luxury vehicles than Germany and Japan
Sun, Dec 14 2014Now there's an attention-grabbing headline, eh? Although the answer to the riddle - pickup trucks and SUVs - might be somehow deflating, the numbers involved deserve a going over. According to TrueCar's figures (click on the table to enlarge), six of the year's ten best-selling vehicles in the US that sell for a transaction price above $50,000 are body-on-frame, and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the only foreigner to crack the top five. Every enthusiast knows that pickup trucks are 'Murica's most popular vehicle by a colossal margin, and there have been plenty of reports about the popularity of luxuriously appointed trucks and SUVs, but compare these figures from TrueCar: 70 percent of Chevrolet Tahoe sales have a transaction price above $50K, and The Bowtie is expected to make $3.9 billion in revenue on 66,945 predicted high-dollar sales; 95.1 percent of E-Class sales break $50K, so the German company will make $4.0 billion on 67,006 predicted sales in that pricing sphere. It's about the only time you'll see the Tahoe ranked right next to Mercedes' bread-and-butter sedan. Ram is ahead of those two with $4.2B coming from $50K-plus sales. The Ford F-Series does almost as much revenue as the next three combined, with an expected $10.8 billion coming from sales of trucks over $50K - more than a quarter of the model's total sales, when a base F-150 can be had for about $26,000. Yes, the Germans make a lot more money on fewer sales, but considering the comparison, the bottom line isn't too troubled by such facts. Weighing like-for-like, the full-size Ford walks it in every category; elsewhere, the Chevrolet Silverado outsells the Ram, but the Ram outsells the Chevy by 6.7 percent above $50K. And for all the flak GMC takes over swapping out grilles, the Sierra also outsells the Chevy in the well-appointed segment, 16.1 percent of sales versus 11 percent – the Professional Grade brand is a huge profit center for The General. You'll find more info in the TrueCar press release below. TrueCar finds pickup trucks far outsell premium brands among top 10 vehicles over $50,000 Ford F-Series pickup sales over $50,000 surpass combined BMW 3, 5, 7 Series luxury car sales SANTA MONICA, Calif. (December 10, 2014) - TrueCar, Inc., the negotiation-free car buying and selling platform, finds mainstream pickup trucks and sport-utility vehicles dominate U.S.
BMW predicts 2 Series Active Tourer will have 75% conquest rate
Wed, 23 Jul 2014In the last few years, BMW has definitively proven that it wasn't a slave to its legacy. In the US, the 3 Series was generally associated with smooth, flat-six engines, but the Bavarian brand dropped a four-cylinder turbo into it. The company was also known for its sports sedans, and it went green with the i3 and i8. Now, rear-wheel drive is off the table as defining its vehicles, as well. With the imminent launch of the 2 Series Active Tourer, the Bavarian's models are going front drive and opening up themselves to a whole new group of customers, so the thinking goes.
"We are expecting the Active Tourer will have a conquest rate of around 75 percent," said Frank Niederlaender, a BMW product manger, to Automotive News Europe. If you're not hip to the lingo, that means three quarters of the hatchback's buyers would come from other brands - an impressive figure, if accurate.
When it hits the road, the 2 Series Active Tourer will be the first BMW-branded vehicle to use the company's UKL front-wheel drive platform, already on the current Mini Cooper. The roomy hatchback is aimed at young families looking for a car that is luxurious but can still tote around the tots. It launches in Europe in September to compete against similar models like the Mercedes-Benz B-Class, but the Bimmer isn't crossing the Atlantic to the US until early 2015, according to ANE.
