History: This car was found in a Bay Area garage and has not been driven for 7 or so years. This car was has received upgrades from DINAN. I do not have any of the past invoices or documentation to this car. This car was regular serviced at H&B before it sat.

Exterior: This car still retains its original paint. The paint does show nicely, however it needs a proper polish/detail. This car does not have any rust, accidents, chassis damage. All of the glass is in good shape and the doors open and close correctly. This car does have a small dent on the drivers side fender(as seen in the pictures).

Interior: This car still has its original all leather interior. The leather is showing its age however it is still usable for a driver. This car still has its original M6 sport seats, leather headliner, leather dash, M6 Gauge cluster etc.

Engine/Transmission. This car fires right up and sounds great. It shifts through all 5 gears smoothly and makes very nice power. This is a very strong drivetrain.

DINAN Upgrades:

Here is a list of the DINAN upgrades that I was told by the previous owner it had done to it.

Short Shift

ECU Chip

Exhaust

Full Suspension

Differential

Rebuilt Transmission

Performance Engine Package.

Overall: This car does need work and I would call this a running project car. This car has very good bones and would make a very nice driver with some attention to details. Here is a quick list of what the cars needs.

-This car does need a service.

- The interior driver side door handle is broken.

- Not all of the head lights, brake lights, electrical work. (I have not looked into fixing any of these. It may be a simple rely or fuse or perhaps bad bulbs).

-The steering rack does wine on occasion.

-The tires are very old and need to be replaced.

- Not all of the power seat functions work.

-For California buyers it needs the registration to be current and current smog.

etc.  You can see that the list is lots of small, relatively simple repairs. It would make a great car for an experienced BMW owner.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I can be reach at 925.876.1281 or via email.

Beverly Hills road rage incident ends with BMW driver ramming bicyclist

Fri, 26 Apr 2013

An instance of road rage turned mortally dangerous in Beverly Hills, CA, recently, when an incident between a cyclist and a BMW driver took a scary turn in front of a rolling security camera.
LA Weekly reports that the person on the bicycle and the driver of the 2008 BMW 328i in the video had some kind of altercation, resulting in the cyclist punching the driver. The driver then followed the biker to an alley on the 9000 block of Wilshire Blvd and, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department, "Intentionally rammed the bicyclist with his vehicle pinning him to a metal rolling trash bin."
That the act was intentional is clearly evident in the video footage below, captured on a security camera. Police have published the video in the hopes of tracking down the driver, who is said to be in his mid-30s with dark hair, dark eyes and a thin build. BMW owners across the country can thank him - for reinforcing certain stereotypes - by helping to turn him in. Do your part, Bimmer Nation.

LA Design Challenge invokes biology for 2025 concepts [w/poll]

Wed, 13 Nov 2013

Participants in the annual LA Design Challenge always manage to come up with edgy, wacky designs for future vehicles, but with a theme of "Biomimicry and Mobility: 2025" this year's crop of cars might be the quirkiest we've ever seen. As usual, automotive designers from around the world participated in this year's competition, and all the designs will all be unveiled next week during the LA Auto Show with a winner being announced on November 21.
Chinese automakers made a strong showing with Qoros, SAIC Motor, JAC Motors (the company responsible for the Ford F-150 clone) and Changfeng all bringing interesting takes on the biology, human intelligence and sustainability theme. One of the more innovative ideas among these automakers is the Qoros Silk Road System allows autonomous vehicles to drive in packs similar to how ants travel. Speaking of ants, the SAIC Motor Mobiliant (shown above) gets its design from the shape of an ant's body, and, like the insect, it can climb building acting as a personal elevator as well. The JAC Motors design also merges vehicle and building design, while the Changfeng LaBrea inspired by the design of muscle fibers.
Other entrants include Subaru and US-based design teams for BMW, Toyota and Mazda. BMW's duo of concepts mimic plant and animal life. The LA Subways concept acts as a submersible, single-person vehicle to take advantage of the LA river, with a shape similar to an Ocean Sunfish. The Sustainable Efficient Exploratory Device (SEED) imitates the shape of a seed pod, and uses propulsion methods inspired by a shark, dragonfly and a water bug. Mazda's Auto Adapt might be the most car-like concept of the bunch, while the Subaru Suba-Roo and the Calty-designed, Toyota e-grus are the most mind-blowingly awesome.

BMW sets Guinness record for longest drift with new M5 [w/video]

Wed, 15 May 2013

In September of 2011, Chinese drifter Wang Qi broke the Guinness record for the world's longest sustained drift, doing 13 laps inside the Olympic Center Stadium in Tianlin, China for 5,802.3 meters. That was broken in February of this year by Abdo Feghali in Abu Dhabi drifting a new Chevrolet Camaro around a skidpad for 11,180 meters - almost seven miles. In March, BMW decided it wanted the record "back in the US," and set up a course at its BMW Performance Driving School near Greenville, South Carolina to get the job done. On May, 11 it was Mission Accomplished when Performance Center driver Johan Schwartz drifted an M5 around a skidpad continuously for 51.3 miles.
Despite that accomplishment, we're pretty sure that professional drifter Vaughn Gittin, Jr. isn't impressed. The way Guinness defines "drifting" can also describe a donut, which is effectively the kind of drifting that's been done for these last three records. BMW went even further by watering down the surface of the track, reducing the skill required and the need to change tires during the effort. On the other hand, you can't drift a car for long in a straight line, but perhaps there should be some clarification or classifications added to the milestones.
There's a short video below taken during the record-breaking run, and a press release from the company that did it.
