Up for sale is our BMW M6 European. This is a 140+ mph 1985 European version known as the M635csi.  The car was purchased by a customer of ours in the 90's in Georgia. We are mechanics and not car dealers.  He is a doctor and after storing the vehicle for 8 years, moved the car to San Diego. At that time the money was spent to register and smog the car in California. In 2011 over $2000 was spent on tune up parts as well as many items such as new brakes, battery etc. We have quite a bit of documentation on the maintenance of this vehicle.  It has been beautifully maintained and is a very reliable and clean car inside and out. Mechanically it is very sound, and could be a daily driver if that is desired. The car has current registration and a clear title in the state of California. The miles are at 146,185. The car is in remarkable condition. It is an original car.  We have found no rust on the vehicle, and as can be seen in the photos the interior is well preserved also.  The car is in great shape, but it is not a #1 car.

The paint shines well, the chrome and stainless shows well.  The headliner is in good condition, but a steam clean would freshen it up. The interior chrome and stainless steel pieces are in very good condition, showing little to no signs of age/wear.  The carpet is not faded, and is in excellent condition.  The overall condition is excellent, but there are a couple of areas to mention. The dash has a few common cracks, as evidenced by the pictures. The A/C system was redone and by the previous owner.  It needs to be charged as the car has been in storage for awhile.  The heat works well.  The tires have plenty of tread, but have some cracking due to the length of storage. They will need to be changed out in the near future.  All of the glass is in good condition.  The only exception is the front windshield, which has a small crack in the lower left corner.
All of the power windows and power options are in good working condition. The car has power steering, power brakes, factory A/C and factory rear defrost.

The car is in great shape, but it is not a #1 car.  It is a car that is in very good condition that is meant to drive.  You are bidding on a 28 year old vehicle!   Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding. This is a NO RESERVE auction, so bid to win!  $1500 non-refundable deposit due with in 48 hours of the close of the auction. Paypal is acceptable for the deposit. Cash, certified check of wire transfer for the balance is due with in 7 days of the close of the auction. Paypal may be used for the final payment IF the buyer is willing to pay Paypal fees.  Sold as is.  The vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to sell it outside of the auction. I have the title in hand. Call or email with questions: 858-353-9959 or coachsremodel@gmail.com.  Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.

BMW planning Chinese recall for engine part issue [w/video]

Mon, 17 Mar 2014

After receiving an unspecified number of complaints in China, BMW has reportedly started a "full investigation" into what may be a defective part in its VANOS engine control system. BMW said via a Chinese blog that it would file a recall application with the the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in China.
BMW has not yet announced how many vehicles will be recalled, or which models the potential recall might cover. We're also curious as to whether the VANOS issue could extend into markets outside of China.
We've placed a call with BMW in the United States, and will update this post as soon as we hear back. Stay tuned for more, and if you're curious about what VANOS is and how it works, scroll down below for a video animation.

BMW's DTM champ swaps rides with Mini's Dakar winner

Tue, May 5 2015

BMW may not race in F1 any longer, and it doesn't compete with Audi and Porsche in the LMP1 class at Le Mans. It even shut down Mini's short-lived effort on the World Rally Championship. But that doesn't mean it doesn't race at all. In fact it's the current reigning champion both in DTM and at Dakar. So to highlight its varied motorsport programs, the German automaker had two of its top drivers swap rides. German driver Martin Tomczyk, who won the DTM title in 2011 and now drives for BMW, took to Nasser Al-Attiyah's Mini All4Racing Countryman on the sand dunes of Dubai. Meanwhile the Qatari driver, who has won the Dakar Rally two times now, took to the wheel of Tomczyk's BMW M4 DTM around Oschersleben in Germany. They even repeated the game of musical chairs at Hockenheim over the weekend. If anything, the promo clip shot by Red Bull just goes to show how different the varied racing machinery can be, and the challenges posed to racing drivers switching between disciplines. But lessons aside, it's a cool clip, so check it out above. Two champions swap cockpits: Martin Tomczyk drives the MINI ALL4 Racing, Nasser Al-Attiyah the BMW M4 DTM. Munich (DE), 1st May 2015. From asphalt to sand and back again: BMW DTM driver Martin Tomczyk (DE) and MINI ALL4 Racing ace Nasser Al-Attiyah (QA) both entered unfamiliar territory and took each other's cars for a test drive. As part of a video shoot for BMW Motorsport Premium Partner Red Bull in Dubai (AE), Tomczyk, a proven master of his trade on asphalt as the 2011 DTM Champion, took the wheel of the MINI ALL4 Racing, with which X-raid has won the famous Rally Dakar the last four years. During DTM testing in Oschersleben (DE), Al-Attiyah was given the opportunity to drive Tomczyk's BMW M Performance Parts M4 DTM. Two wins at the Rally Dakar are just some of the successes the rally driver from Qatar has had to date. He followed up his first victory in 2011 by winning in the MINI ALL4 Racing in January 2015. "Driving the MINI ALL4 Racing through the sand and over the dunes in Dubai was a fascinating experience and was so much fun," said Tomczyk. "The car has an incredible amount of torwue – and the test in the dunes was an amazing adrenalin rush even for an experienced race driver such as myself. It's totally different to driving on a circuit.

Creative minds build lightweight Lambos and Bugattis with cardboard and pedals

Fri, May 1 2020

As manufacturers continue their quests to reduce the weight of their vehicles, they switch out heavy steel for lighter materials such as aluminum, carbon fiber, titanium, and sometimes even magnesium. But they've been ignoring a cheap alternative that is widely available: cardboard. Leave it to two visionaries from Vietnam to crack the code and build supercars and superbikes out of the versatile paper product. Vietnamese YouTube channel NHET TV, via CarScoops, might only have a year under its belt, but in that short amount of time, it has amassed more than 350,000 subscribers. What initially started out as a random collection of harmless pranks, trolls, and makeshift time-killers has blossomed into an entertaining channel of ultra-low-budget car and motorcycle builds.  The first video posted is a paper plane competition, but the second video shows the first appearance of a vehicle, a Ducati Panigale made out of cardboard and a bicycle. This isn't like Paper Mario with a two-dimensional silhouette, it's a close-enough three-dimensional replica. That project was admittedly pretty rough, but the work has only improved as the channel has matured.  Throughout the past year, NHET TV has stuck with high-performance transportation for inspiration. They've built projects that mimic a Lamborghini Sian, a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, a Ferrari LaFerrari FXX K, a Bugatti Chiron, a BMW S 1000 RR, and a Yamaha YZF-R6, among others. Some of the builds, such as the Bugatti, go beyond the typical cardboard-body-on-bicycle-frame. As seen in the video below, the NHET TV built a tubular frame for the car using spare bike parts that they welded together. The Bug even has a custom steering column and steering wheel, though the high-quality model continues to use bike chains and pedals for power. The SVJ might be the most advanced vehicle, as it has a real engine for power and has custom reverse gearing. These guys are creating fun out of the limited resources they do have, and that's what right now is all about. Enjoy the videos below and watch more on the full NHET TV channel.
